Precisely, but there's nothing with two bolts under there so far as I can tell. It's a quandary.
-
Well that's the best part, I've called them before only to hear "bolt it up to the gas tank skid" by an ill spoken technician. I really don't want to have to do custom work on supposedly bolt on parts that I paid $550 for when all said and done. Not just now, but before. I bought them back in December and have been too lazy/unmotivated to put this final one on. If only it just bolted on.

The plate Bracket + Hardware Under- the 90* bend lines up with the center skidplate... But the bracket doesn't. In this position I would need to drill another hole in the skidplate, and potentially modify the gas tank skid mount. This is the view directly from the rear center hole.
-
I've tried lining it up, but the supplied bracket doesn't really line up with anything, even though supposedly it hooks up with the gas tank skid. Yes, I do have the mid mounted skid, and it does line up, but it need something to support the rear end of the skid, so it doesn't flop down.

Do above maintenance, take off the running boards and mudflaps, throw on some off road-y 245/75r16s, get a tow strap and wheel it! I've basically done that and out of the box its capability astounding IMO. See what you "need" for your area. In my case it's skids, upgraded shocks, recovery points, off road lights, manual hubs, tucked exhaust, a sleeping platform and some odds and ends. Never lifted it and it does very well.

So I've had the 4x4parts rear skidplate sitting around the garage for a while, and I'm wondering, how the f*** does it mount? I have the front and center skid mounted, plus all the hardware that came with it. Here's the skid, any help is much appreciated https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/pathfinder-rear-skid-plate-p-3454.html

From ExPo, and specifically Stioc. Factory WD21 transfer case skid, which fits R50s, cost reportedly $25 (Bottom post) http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/82167-My-2001-Pathfinder-(R50-)-mild-budget-build/page40 Skid Plate Part # 30409-33G00 Bolts 2 x 33201-33G10 2 x 08121-0201E

I just turned the rotors and drums, and put on Hawk Gold Ceramic front pads (Like them better than EBC, have had both) and standard Wagner rear pads. The ABS definitely works, I even felt it today coming down a loose dirt hill. (That and stopping for a moose ) It seems to engage at 75% pedal pressure and above, especially in rain, or anything slick. It's saved my bacon countless times.

I have 82,000 miles on mine right now- my trip to Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho should fix that Shooting for 200k, and have put on 10k in under 6 months...

Who would like a cheap rear lift option?
Karmann replied to linkinpark's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Very compelling find, now for a similarly cheap spacer in front... -
Thanks! Since tomorrow is Friday I figure I'll crawl under the pig and take a look.

My '02 is an SE and has the dead pedal... Couldn't you "fab" one out of wood or something and cover it with some matching carpet? Like a stereo cabinet? Is it that big of an issue? ahahaha
-
Right, I actually didn't, but the Pathy only has 79k so they should be alrightish... I think the rear suspension is weak by design anyway, I've seen many pathfinders with people in them sagging in the same way. Excellent, just what I was wanting to hear! Was your flex limited by them at all? I would like to do the same if I ever lift. And to others- I'm mainly looking to level out the rear when I have a load, I'm doing multiple 1000 mile+ roadtrips this summer, and would like to prevent the suspension sag.

How smooth are these R50 transmissions supposed to shift?
Karmann replied to PrecisionX's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
That's about where my tranny is, I'm not a huge fan of the way it shifts but that's about normal: 1-2 is hard, especially when cold, 3-4 smoother and downshifting from 4-3 is a little rough at all times. I'm getting the tranny flushed, we'll see if there's any change. I get the feeling the tranny is what holds back the power...I can't complain too much though, it's just not up to some of my other frequent drivers. -
I have a "Euro Style" replacement antenna on mine like this: http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-RM906R-Rubber-Antenna-Replacement/dp/B0018BOM7W/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1367990977&sr=1-1&keywords=flexible+antenna It's very flexible, has excellent reception, and I like the look, so for $13 I'm happy. Had several adapters that came with it, though I have no idea how it would work with the power original unit. I would think it could be a swap? But don't quote me on that.

I was just curious if you have had any experience with the in-coil style suspension airbags? Do they tear after off road use? Is the ride smooth? etc. etc. Like these: http://www.autoanything.com/suspension-systems/61A2966A0A0.aspx Only $97 I'm looking to beef up the rear end of my pathy- it squats way too much with only people in the back seat. With gear/supplies it's quite noticeable. I already have Bilstein 4600s which I bought a few months ago, so no shock upgrades for me... Thanks!

Pics of the late winter and early spring! All pics welcome
Karmann replied to DsR50's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Wow that thing is WIDE. Looks good though! -
Sorry for spacing out a bit... Tried that, they didn't move. It definitely still makes the noise on smooth pavement when cranking the wheel while reversing. And going over the cross-axle ditches creates the sound too. Thank you! I'll try that first trick. What exactly do they look like when they're cracked? I'll have to take the skidplate off to check, and the sway bar bushings looked a little iffy, could it be that? Thanks again!

Brand and style of Spare Tire on your R50s?
Karmann replied to borninabarn's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Not in Iowa, but I have the same one. Not to threadjack but does anyone know if a 245/75r16 would fit in the factory location (under rear) as a spare with a trailer hitch? -
So how would I check/replace these things? And to CV- they look good on the outside, and considering the noise still appears when I have the hubs unlocked and CVs not turning, that probably isn't it.

My 2002 Pathy 4x4 makes a popping noise when the wheel is fully cranked to the left, specifically at low speeds, and is highly audible when backing out of a parking space for instance. I would describe the sound as almost a creak, but mainly a pop with resonance. I can easily replicate it, and happens the most when in reverse, but also appears when moving forward. I have cranked the wheel fully to the right and left and I see no rubbing, and it seems to emanate from the front passenger suspension. It was there both before and after I installed Manual Hubs. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks -Karmann

As others have said, it's pretty much just the standard procedure. If you have the manual to the car, there's actually a how-to in there with all the torque specs and capacities, it's been really handy for me.
