  1. I want a Mitsubishi Delica, that offroad van gets down man!

  3. I'm going to give you a link to the diesel engine section under The Garage / How to forums. If this doesn't work, just go into The Garage and then click on the arrow next to "Custom" and choose show all and save / update filter. That way you can see all the threads and topics that have come from years past. Just look around in here, just now I did a quick 5 second scan and saw multiple threads about the TD27. Okay I just tried it, it doesn't work, so when you go there you need to click the arrow next to custom and go down to the bottom filter where yours will probably say last 60 days, open that up to choose a different time frame and click "Show All" then you can find what you need. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/forum/30-diesel-engine-discussion/?changefilters=1
  4. Sorry, I forgot you asked what to move on to, depending on what you want it for, I prefer the WD21 but the R50 is also nice, I definitely wouldn't mind finding a good deal on a nice looking one, you mentioned there is a TD27 for sale near you, that's the one I'd be interested in. Oh yeah, you were asking where you can find a VQ model engine, those are used in the Infinity QX4 2000 and up year model, it's a 3.5 L 240 hp, has a timing chain instead of a belt and uses individual coil packs for each cylinder.
  5. Let me start by saying I'm not a skilled high level mechanic, I'm low on the totem pole wrench and socket. I can change brakes, oil, spark plugs, fuel filter, valve cover gasket..I had two years of auto tech in high school where I rebuilt several v8 heads, and I once pulled the head on an old Toyota celica that had a blown head gasket, I was 19 and hopeless, it took me atleast 6 months with that car in pieces in my garage, and ended in failure, had it towed. That's the extent of my experience, aside from the 15 or so cars I've owned over the last 23 years. I have knowledge about engines and how they work, transmissions to a much lesser degree and wiring even less..what you're describing I wouldn't prescribe to any but a well rounded experienced mechanic that had time, money and work space with tools and equipment, and an understand wife. If you are intent on this, I would move the operation back to the deer lease and set up shop there. You might be able to rent a large enough storage space where you can stash both trucks and do the work. Ofcourse anything is possible if you can read and you have the right tools and availability to do the work, some friendly support wouldn't hurt either...but I think this is a HUGE undertaking, not to be considered if your wife is going to complain about everything and you live in a deed restricted community. You will have two trucks in pieces spread around your property for the next two years. I think the TDI swap would be awesome, I wish my truck had a TD 27, they have more torque, get better mileage and will last longer if you take care of it. One of my many cars was a 81 Datsun 810 B / Nissan Maxima with I think an RD28 inline 6 cyl diesel and it was great, it was a pos but I loved it right up until I blew the motor because I didn't keep any oil in it, still makes me sad to think of it. And if you ever need to evacuate town, a diesel is a great tool because they sip fuel, especially a small one like ours, and you can run them on just about any kind of oil based liquid, bio diesel for one thing, vegetable oil too. Small diesel engines are cool, the big v8 diesels are nasty, like our other shop work truck F250 is lifted with 35" tires, rock hard suspension and 6.0 liter v8 diesel engine, I HATE driving that truck but I do appreciate the work it does for me..but man I can't WAIT to finally make it back to my shop so I can ditch the damned thing and get back in my Chevy silverado with a quiet v6 4.3L. Driving that ford across town is like having a washboard player from a Zydeco band sitting in the passenger seat just ripping away the entire time. The reason I bailed on you is (me in your position) I feel you'd save so much in time and headache and fights with the wife if you avoid the swamp route full of quicksand and other hazards that you're considering, out with the old and in with the also old in good condition and be done with it.
  6. Uhhggg...this changes everything, you never mentioned a wife factor before. Part out the old one, sell it for scrap metal and get whatever per pound they'll give you and by another used in decent condition. With what your saying now about your ability with the front end and the electronics and wiring, NOW i think you should just run away and head for safety. You don't want to get mired in this with your wife looking over your shoulder screaming at you..no no no no no...... Hey you don't happen to be involved with that new natural gas power plant going in at Temple do you? The Panda Temple energy what ever..Looks pretty interesting. Texas is going to lead the way with that new tech, I believe.
  7. A. It's not your daily driver so you can afford to take your time with it so that's cool. B. You already know that which ever route you take, it's going to be a lot of work regardless. C. The engine has high mileage and the tranny needs a rebuild. Personally, if it were me I'd pull the engine and tranny and sell for whatever you can get for it, and throw in a 2.7 TDI with a good manual trans and, slowly make your way through the truck from there. Hell, why not do an SAS while you're at it, you said the front end needs all kind of work, right? Perfect excuse to rip the whole damn thing out! You have to rebuild your truck regardless, why not make it worth while instead of going back with stock equipment? I'd ask Unccpathfinder for help, he seems to be able to speak this language. Yea, the more I think about it your situation is prime for a big rebuild like this. RC Crawlers

I forgot to add the link! http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=58429 I just think that looks friggin awesome. Are there better crawlers to be had? Sure, of course, this is just one that I happened to know of, and thought interesting. Plus I love Tamiya products. This hobby is so wide open, there are a 1000 different ways it could go and it just comes down to one's particular taste, skill level and how much they want to spend.

    RC Crawlers

No, it's 30 year old r/c tech, there is no modding. This was just meant to be a scale model / Shelf Queen. Tamiya has the most detailed offroad-able / crawler chassis with die-cast metal bodies with this series here: The CR-01 chassis with many different licensed metal bodies, Toyota FJ Landcruiser, Jeep, Unimog but I don't think there is any Pathfinder body.

    RC Crawlers

Well, here are a couple links for the nitro versions but it's just FYI, not for sale..atleast you can see what's out there as far as old school scale Pathfinder / Terrano models. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-9-Kyosho-RV-Series-Nissan-Terrano-Pathfinder-with-CCVT-Transmission-/140999702038

    RC Crawlers

Kyosho made a great looking Pathfinder r/c truck like 25 years ago, it was highly detailed..that thing would be a nice prize if you could put your hands on one. I'll see if I can find any links for it and see what Ebay has.
  12. Man, nice truck...jeez...that's sharp. I likey.

    RC Crawlers

I used to dabble a little in some toy grade r/c rock crawling and was pretty heavy into r/c generally. I've sold all my equipment and the two trucks I'd built, so not really into it anymore. It takes a lot of spending money...there is some neat stuff out there though, if I were you I'd start small with this toy crawler, and believe me this thing has a lot more capability than even the toys my friends and I were modding a few years ago: http://www.rcmania.com/maisto-rock-crawler-extreme/ I would start with that, experiment with different bodies and tires and stuff, and just see if you like crawling before going big. I love that website too btw, tons of great toy grade r/c reviews.
  14. wow he looked great going through there just as calm as could be, nice job I've done roughly the same thing with my son, letting him drive offroad and eventually went solo. Good stuff man.
  15. If I understand you correctly, once you De-register your pathy, it's not legal to be driven on the road, correct? If I were there, in your place, with my vehicle just waiting in the underground parking garage until the day the tow truck comes, just wait for the day to come then once the tow truck arrives, like someone else said above, just drive it out to meet them in an adjacent parking lot in a safe area away from the street, where you can supervise the handling of your truck. If any authority happen to drive by and question you, show them your paperwork, you are shipping your vehicle, you followed the designated laws set in place by the Jurisdiction of Spain, you do have the supporting documentation / paperwork to show that you don't intend on driving the vehicle and obviously, the tow truck is right here..it's getting loaded up..so, I think you'll be okay. Here in the states occasionally at one time or another everyone has driven with out of date registration and inspection sticker, like 3 or 4 months old....it's kinda the same thing I'd guess.
  16. Actually I'd forgotten I've just finished "Rage" that also has oppressive totalitarian government types in mask and armor, (The Authority) they sound the same as the Combine so that was the actual memory knee jerk I'd had, BUT Half LIfe 2 and episodes 1 and 2 highly recommeneded.. And I did really enjoy Rage, the characters are completely twisted off psychos and so, very entertaining, along with a few really smokin hot game-Babes drawn in for good measure.
  17. I believe this problem is caused by one of two different things. Option A states that you blew a head gasket, all of those symptoms you described would be indicative of a blown head gasket. A simple compression check will highlight this. Also, if you do have a cracked piston, but not a blown head gasket, then only that one cylinder would show low on compression, all the others would still be high. Your mechanic doesn't need to rip the engine apart to tell you if it's still intact or not. Compression check will tell all. Option B states that your EGR valve is clogged and this is causing the white smoke and causing to run rough. A friend of mine experienced the same problem on his 2005 Turbo diesel ford F250, it was the EGR valve. I believe you shouldn't do anything until getting a compression check on every cylinder first. If they all check out, then there's something else going on. A bad broken engine will not hold compression. Good luck
  18. same here..I'm thinking, uhh..there's no 3.5 badge..uh, there's no tire carrier...ummmm.....that's all I got. Lol..upside down wing..that one got me.
  19. {shudder} you just gave me chills. Shadows of Half Life 2 and the Combine. I mean I literally heard your voice through your amplified respirator / gas mask.
  20. Awesome drone and Go Pro camera tech for the private sector: (I just love this stuff and I get charge out of all of the many of gazillions of implications what will arise from this, and not all in a good way...but it is exciting) We already know how the Go Pro has revolutionized camera tech but this next vid is a true testament how frigging amazing the new tech is. I could go on and on about how truly amazing this is, I can't even wrap my brain around it. I hope we never get complacent to this Just consider this next one as 'An Ode to That Which we Shall never have the freedom to experience in the US' This is waaay too unregulated and free and fraught with dangerous implications for us to ever be able to have this here in our place. That looks sooo SWEET!!!! I love it! It's too bad we live in such a Nanny state, we can never have this here.
  21. Hey Unccpathfinder first off man you are one talented guy, I can't believe how cleanly you stripped the 95, I can't even figure out how to remove the front passenger fender to work on the antenna! 2ndly, I wanted to let you know that I also carry full coverage on my 94 even though I've got people around me saying "Don't waste the extra $600 a year on insuring that old thing, you can just cover it yourself, and get liability!" I tell em..ahh, no thank you I like having my vehicle completely covered and for only $60 a month, why not? About the tear down and build up of the 87, DON'T listen to the nay sayers, they're all gonna hate and they just don't get it. I understand your inspiration, it came from a place deep inside and one day you were like "Eureka! I have a dime a dozen 4 door 95 that's average, and a cool vintage 2 door that could be cherry and I could make it really sweet with the new parts in place of the old ones! YES!" And then you tried to explain it to your friends and family.... You know I guess for most people, myself included, that might have wanted to try to do this, it would just end in disaster with two gimpy half built / torn apart vehicles laying around for God knows how long, but for you I think you've got the stones to see it through to a final stomping crescendo that you'll be really happy with. GODSPEED.
  22. Kingman 1st tire looks like a Kumho HT, and the 2nd one looks like Mastercraft courser AT. Skibum Brian those look like Hi-flys AT, I forget if that is the tire name or brand name. Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
  23. That first one, the Yokohama Mud Digger looks like it were inspired by Tetris, and I thought the 2nd one, the Super Digger, was a General Grabber AT.
  24. We still have hand collected tolls here in Houston as well for every one of our toll plaza, there are only a few places where it's electronic tag only, but you know you're not supposed to be on that specific stretch of toll highway if you don't have an ez tag. Many MANY people in town still pay their $1.50 or $1.75 or $2.00 (ship channel toll bridge) by hand everyday. It's like .25 cents less if you do have a tag. We Just recently had a major stretch of toll road open that I guess is tag only, and before it opened, they tested the camera with a Hennessy developed 2013 Corvette which ran the 20 something mile stretch at 200 mph and clocked by a state trooper to verify that the toll camera could keep up with speeding vehicles. What a job.
  25. I'm still rocking and rollin on mine, the one I posted up works great and plus it gives me another place to throw my stuff, i.e.: cell phone, wallet, extra change, pens, order of frys...
