What did you do to your Pathfinder today?
devonianwalk replied to RedRider3141's topic in The Garage
Yeah, me too. If I find the fix I'll be sure to let you know via PM. Also, replaced my horns from a Chevy van to get rid of my "eeeeeeep" sounding horn. Four minute install!!! -
I've had vines wrapped around my CV's from tooling around in my woods that made weird noises. Have you crawled under your rig to check for any thing like that? Shoot, I've even had a small rock get caught up in my disk break assembly that fskcd up my rotor before. Just shooting some ideas before you go looking at internal parts.

My buddies go about twice a month during the OHV trail season. I'd love to wheel with other Pathfinders. I live about thirty minutes south of Charlotte (approx. 2 hour drive from URE).
-
It does look like you too were suffering from the "saggy ass" syndrome.
-
Hellsss yeah! Welcome to the nose bleed club.
-
That would be interesting if you can swap for the face lift Pathy. I'd really like to see you make that happen.

The only way to get the HB bolt out is to remove the drive belts and radiator in order to get an impact wrench in there. I've been into mine a couple of times now. My biggest beef right now is the age of my HB itself. I just replaced it less than a year ago due to a terrible squeal.
-
FRACK! The squeeling sound is coming back. It's very intermittent and only starts when the engine is running steady at 2k rpm. Every time I get out and check it wont squeel. I can rev the engine slowly and it will have an occasional "chirp chirp chirp sqeeeeeeeeeel chirp". I will pull the belt again tomorrow and check the the other idler pulley. It dosen't seem to be coming from as low as the crank shaft pulley (HB). Curious, the fan seems to blow extra hard at start up and "calm down" before the cold idle dies down. Could a bad fan clutch squeel?

FINALLY FOUND A CUSTOM FABBER...

Nice! Keep us updated. -
Man, my Pathy has been nick-named by my wheeling friends as "La Blanca VaJayJay". It breaks down every time I go wheeling. I refuse to call her a "car50" in lieu of a "truck". However, I seem to be the only "car" climbing the rocks and hitting the mud holes to which I have gathered quite a "fan base".

And let's not forget to check your spare!

Maybe they were looking up another part? I found it really strange that both stores told me the same thing. Hmmm ... I made the same comment to the guy at the parts counter.
-
@!*%, you could buy something that already has a solid front axle for 5k.

Same here. In fact, I was unaware of an "installation" tool. -
Lord I hope this isn't my case. I just put a new HB on a few months ago. I am still getting the occasional squeal. Belt tension maybe?

Hehe ... misery loves company. I had to scrounge (spl?) for two bolts to pull mine off. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND REPLACING THE TENSIONER PULLEY while you are in the TB chamber. -

Went to the j/y and found a '96 R50. Picked a couple of interior clips, plugs, and various trinkets that were missing or broken on mine. Also yanked the rear sway bar off and reinstalled it on mine as I was an idiot and cut my original off. I'll probably leave this one on. -
Hey man, I just pulled some parts off of a '96 that still has the entire insrument cluster. It's located at the "U-Pull it" in Rock Hill, SC. I was thinking of you when I found it today.
-
It's the easiest pulley to get to. Open the hood and look past your upper fan shroud. It's the small pulley right on top. All you need is a #14 socket! I was just really dumbfounded that these to local auto parts stores couldn't even order it.
-
Get this, my idler pulley started making all sorts of sqeeling racket today while I was running errands. I got home and diagnosed the problem by removing the AC belt. I called a couple of "big box" auto parts stores (Autozone and Advanced Auto) and they both claimed that it was a discontinued item and that they couldn't even order one for me. I called NAPA and they have it in stock for $34. Rock Auto has to have it shipped from an "off site" warehouse and wants $32 for it. Looks like I'm taking the Miata back into town!

Town is on top of "it"!

I too have to join the ranks in the "NPORA change your wiper blades" day. I too chose the Bosch blades (first time using Bosch). I put them on my Miata as well.
