  1. Always hone with new rings. Do you really want to risk having to pull the whole thing apart again if u find failing compression some time after install? Sounds like B has a seriously good offer on the table. I would take him up on that one if i were you. The man knows what he is talking about with this stuff!
  2. I would personally just swap out the whole axle...look around. I ended up finding a great shape low KM rear axle from a pathy with a rotten frame. Went from open diff/drum brakes to LSD/disc brakes. The swap took literally about 3 hours after the brakes were bled and it only cost me 50$.
  3. I run the bronco 2 front shocks with 1" bj spacers and ES ultra low profile bump stops. no problems after 2 years with this setup and my truck is mostly used for wheeling aside from winter DD duty

  5. 2 inch extended shocks will be fine at stock height. Just check the compressed length and compare it to stock just to make sure u won't bottom them out but I highly doubt it.
  6. Replaced the alternator in the pathy. Got my new silicone rad hoses and new rad cap for the 240sx
  7. Found a used alternator to swap in. Gotta get my rig back on the road! She will be alive again on Friday!
  8. U use the vg30 waterpump but u have to cut a piece off to make it fit the vg33.
  9. Well that makes sense as my pathys are 93 and they had a rusted old ngk with a Nissan stamp on it when I pulled them out. Guess Nissan switched to Bosch with the round dash trucks!
  10. Definitely clean out the egr and test its function per the fsm before blindly replacing parts though!
  11. I would use only ngk for the o2 sensor. Even though it is just a discrete sensor (on/off), the set point reliability of the ngk is oem spec. Ngk supplied the factory pathy sensor. I got mine and my gfs for about 50$ shipped for the direct fit. The splice in models would work just fine as well, just make sure they are ngk. Bosch would probably be fine as well since they supplied the oem vg30de o2 sensors.
  12. I run a flowmaster 40 2.5", but I have a full 2.5" exhaust. Just to let you know, it will be loud!
  13. Test the maf VIA the factory service manual. Sounds like maf issue...
  14. Make sure u attached all the electrical connectors in the back of the plenum properly. There's one for the IACV wayyyy at the back that you can't really see once the plenum is in place,
  15. 3.6 was the original level. A later technical service bulletin from Nissan states that the fluid amount is revised to 5.1 litres to help with bearing starvation
  16. I haven't gotten to it yet, as I ended up moving for a second year of college and was daily driving my truck up until this last week. My car is back on the road now and the truck is parked and ready to go under the knife again. I'll keep updated when I dig in again.
  17. Just fyi I always grease both the inside and outside diameter of engine and transmission seals when I install them, for both reasons mentioned here. Been doing it this way for years without issue and that's how I was taught to do it by a mechanic of 50 years. My 2 c.
  18. Man, that is a nice truck. Slightly jealous! Parked my 93 path into the back and pulled the battery. It is now ready for some engine surgery. R50 manifold/throttle body and N60 maf, along with a set of early vg30 cams and a tune. See what can be had from a basic healthy vg33e. Should be fun!
  19. Oh almost forgot! Literally all of the main suspension bushings... front upper and lower control arm bushings. rear upper, lower and panhard arm bushings....and possibly new body mount bushings if I find the right price... not looking forward to this part of the rebuild..lol
  20. Alternator packed it in and died. Good thing I run a deep cycle battery so I had lots of time to get it home after the battery light came on. Weighed the pros and cons and decided its time to take the pathy off the road. 240SX is going back on the road now and the pathfinder is going under the knife for another round of heavy modifications. New tentative mod list for the pathy this spring/summer; -Quest 140 amp alternator. -Full timing job with all new main seals. -Custom a/c bracket and convert the a/c to onboard air system. -Junk the auto trans and convert to manual trans. -Finish building my hybrid throttle body (vg30 guts/tps with vg33 housing and throttle plate). -Finish converting vg33 r50 intake manifold to work in a wd21 chassis. -Custom eeprom tune and install wideband O2 sensor for tuning. -Custom snorkel -Build a panhard drop bracket -1-1.5" more rear lift. -Install keyless entry alarm system -VHF/UHF radio install This should be a fun season!
  21. If there's oil on the heads of your motor than its the valve cover gaskets and they will have to be done anyway. Might as well just pull the plenum and re do all the gaskets up there. It's really not that bad of a job to pull the plenum. Takes about 30-40 mins if you have long needle nose pliers (for some of the tensioned hose clamps)
  22. 3M window weld is what you use for the seal of the glass and you use a special tool to cut the windshield out. I bought mine on eBay for about 15$. Works great and comes with 3 graduated blade sizes to work the glass out in stages. It has a handle with a pull cord and a blade with a 90 degree bend on the end. The right tools make all the difference!
