Cant determine my no crank, no start issue
silverton replied to RickWill's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I've heard of the relay itself, just didn't know they were notorious for failing. -
Your profile picture is very tiny. Can't really tell what I'm looking at.

Never heard of that. I'd check the connection at the starter, and if that's good, replace the starter. Sounds to me like the solenoid has gone tits up. -
I stand corrected! A quick look at the FSM and it appears the Y-pipe is later on down the stream in to a resonator.

One reason I won't buy a new'ish Pathfinder

Good luck even making it to a mud hole -
Are these tires any good on the street? Curious
silverton replied to mikestewart395's topic in General Forums
Yeah, those are diggin tires! a WD21 on 33's worth nightmare to be honest. -
I could be mistaken but I'm fairly certain that the Y-pipe runs under where the engine and transmission mate, so if the rear main was leaking...
-
There are a few places where these engines could leak oil on to the exhaust. It could just be the valve cover gaskets on the heads, which can happen they do go bad. Or it could be the rear main seal which is farther down and much harder to replace as the transmission needs to be separated from the engine. Hard to say if the axle and ABS light are connected, there should be a procedure for checking ABS codes in the FSM which is linked in a pinned post in the garage section.

New here. New owner. Xterra tranny swap question.
silverton replied to v8_ranch's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
wow! Even cooler! Are they heated? Though who knows, someone could have swapped them in from an LE. Hard to say! -
We did, he had made two topics, both in TBI and MPFI WD21 sections.

In theory, it should work as even the 2WD use a RE4R01A. I wouldn't try to put a 4wd trans in a 2wd truck or visa-versa but both the Pathfinder and the Xterra being 2WD models, it should bolt and plug in. On a side note, you got a 1995 SE-V6 with leather and 2WD? I bet it's the only one! lol. -
With the old O2 sensor, it would just barely get a 6th or 7th flash in the ten seconds. With the "new" O2 sensor is flashed more than 10 times.
-
Could also be the ignitor, when they go bad they aren't too happy when hot.
-
Out of curiosity, how fast did the red/green lights flash? Did they lazily flash together, or did they strobe? In one of my VG powered vehicles I thought the O2 might be going bad even after verifying that the lights flashed together. At some point I swapped it for another O2 sensor because it still didn't seem like it was running quite right, but with the other O2 sensor the lights flashed very fast together.

Moog is an excellent brand. 10/10 would recommend.

The final word on using "the final word" in a topic title.
silverton replied to adamzan's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
I only see it three times on the first page, it can't be much of a pandemic? -
You can't use a lift from the rear of a D21 in a WD21 because the springs are different. D21 uses leafs while the WD21 uses coils. Lift springs and extended shocks can be had for relatively cheap though.

My luck abounds... Is it common for fuel tanks to leak?
silverton replied to MrEviLDeD's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I bet if you were to pull the carpet back and remove the fuel pump access plate, you'll find the leak The best way to siphon 99.99% of the fuel is through the big hole in the top of the tank anyway. -
Easiest way to check toe is with a tape measure or, even better, two! Make sure you measure from the same lugs on both front and rear of the tire as close to center as possible. I know when I do it on the rear of the front tire it's almost touching the torsion bars.

When I did a manual swap in my 1987 200SX, I made a jumper plug so the car thought it was always in P or N so it would start. Basically went through the plug and jumped two pins until I found the correct pair for the starter to engage. The reverse lights were on a separate plug and that just plugged in.

Probably leaking at the fuel pump or filler hose hook up. -
It's a tool called a Tie Rod End Puller.

whats the final word on new headlights?
silverton replied to captandy's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Two of you that are running H4's, does your housing call for H4's? Or do they call for 9003? 9003 is better than H4 because the filament placement is much more strict. So if you're running H4's in a 9003 housing, you could have even better output if you used the correct bulb. Basically the government took the H4, loved it, but hated the lax attitude with filament placement which required the headlights to be re-aimed with every new bulb. So they made the filament placement stricter and called it 9003/HB2.
