Holy moly that's a lot of oil for such a little engine! a 4x4 VG30 equipped pathfinder only takes 3 5/8 quarts WITH filter change. I usually just dump the entire four quarts in it though.

New here. New owner. Xterra tranny swap question.
silverton replied to v8_ranch's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Possibly, but I don't think it's been done or there just isn't any benefit from hunting one down. Whereas with the automatics, they made them strong so they live longer. -
should be more gold than orange, but yes. the factory tint is in the middle of the glass instead of on either side you touch. You could put in the extra effort and find an XE in the junkyard and take all the glass from it.

The H to L points on the dip stick is 1 quart. Sounds like you're checking your oil wrong. You want to do it on a cold engine, or one that has been turned off for 10-15 minutes. Pull dipstick out, wipe clean, put dip stick back in and make sure it seats all the way down, pull it out and check the level.
-
It's normal if your truck leaks or burns oil. Change it, and check it. See where it's at on the stick.

Either double post or I was a bit too up in the clouds last night, cause I swear I responded to this. The voltage regulator inside of the alternator is defective and the entire unit needs to be replaced, hopefully it came with some kind of warranty.

Sounds like the voltage regulator inside of the alternator. Hopefully the place you got the alternator from has a warranty since the whole unit needs to be replaced.

take the line off at the pump and see if the pressure is still weak.
-
Could be a tired pump.

I can't imagine a WD21 seat being much better, but they do bolt in. The SE trim seats are far better than the XE trim seats, but they're both a plenty in the junkyard.

If you had a loose hose, you probably lost fluid, better check and make sure. Automatic's are finicky creatures and if the level isn't just right, well... they complain about it.
-
Well, Alkorahil you are right in a sense. But since us WD21 guys can swap in a 3.3 without changing ECU's it would work the other way as well, say put a 3.0 in a 96-99 Pathfinder or 00-04 Xterra or whatever years the 3.3 came in the WD22. You COULD run a 3.3 ECU in a WD21 as long as you took the entire engine harness and sensors from the donor vehicle. But probably not worth the effort.

I've done two transmission "flushes" this way. And it works really well and is very fast! You'd be surprised how much volume is being pumped at idle. Pictures used to work, but the words should be explanation enough. If not, let me know I'll try to make a picture how-to. http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8767

Well I can see how this could happen. It makes sense, in my head anyway, that if the cylinder was flooded with fuel and fuel leaks past the rings, that fluid transfer could happen. As the fuel is leaking past the rings, that has opened a "passageway" for oil to get through as well. But I could be wrong.. ?

that light flashing is akin to the CEL coming on. If you have the FSM for your Terrano you should be able to look up what the sequence means.

Would the hood still open all the way if it were mounted to the cowl? I'll see if I can talk David in to welding me some brackets, hahahaha.

2014 pathfinder vs 2014 kia sorento

Holy moly that review was pointless! How does it do on trips to soccer fields and the mall? That's what we need to know!! -
I've put at least 10,000 on my KM2's and love them, but I can't say anything about the KM's other than I have heard they are better off road than KM2's and louder on pavement.

Front shock installation: BUSHINGS are important!
silverton replied to gv280z's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
There are cups that hold the bushings welded to the shock mount so the need of washers are not necessary on one side of each bushing. -
Derek, you're funny! He goes through so many vehicles he probably doesn't remember and only drove on them 1000 miles.

Would have saved yourself a bunch of time and money if you had paid attention to the uninstall. The best lessons are the ones learned the hard way! -
my previous 87 200sx would read full until I pulled out of the gas station. sounds like most of you just need new sending units. My truck does, I know that for sure. it'll show full when it's full, then drop down to 1/2 tank after about 30 miles, then the needle will drop all the way til it's resting on the bezel around 80'ish miles. Right now, if I've done my fuel calculations correctly, I should be able to travel another 20-25 miles and it's showing 1/4 tank.

hints, tips, and tricks are not covered in the FSM. This info is readily available as long as you do some research.

Round dash trucks are notorious for RPM, fuel, and temperature gauge problems. I would have tried tightening the brass screws on the back of the cluster first.
