whats the final word on new headlights?
silverton replied to captandy's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Talking about bulbs? Osram and Phillips are quality. As with most things of this nature, your mileage may vary. What I like might be something you don't. But I recommend the Osram Nightbreaker. -
Picture is too small, I can't tell what it is other than a fat bloke next to a Heep.

I've done a gravity bleed on empty calipers. It takes a whole lot longer for it to seem like it's doing something but, as long as you notice the level of fluid in the master cylinder is dropping, it is working.

The VIN won't tell you what options it has. I generally like to sit in the driver seat and look around to see what gadgets I have. Being a 1990, is it a four door, or a two door? If you have a two door, HOLD ON TO IT! They reckon less than 1000 were made. Is it an SE or an XE? It should say so on the liftgate. As far as options, heres what I can rattle off the top of my head. The SE model is usually outfitted pretty well; sunroof, adjustable suspension dampening, rear disc brakes with a limited slip differential and 31x10.50 tires. Other options include a swing away tire carrier, alarm/keyless entry, front fog lights, heated side mirrors, heated (leather is rare) seats, cruise control, and a 6 speaker stereo system which all, excluding the heated seats, came standard on the SE. The XE model is generally pretty bare with chintsier interior. Rear drum brakes and a limited slip IF you're lucky. Along with any, or all, of the optional equipment that came standard on the SE but with 235/75 sized tires.

There are only two types of Jeep owners. Those that have rolled their Jeep, and those that will.

Now that you mention it! I do remember there being two blue wires in the factory harness to connect to the single blue coming from the deck. You wouldn't even be aware of this issue if the amps were bypassed though. The way I did it is by making jumper wires to stick in to the factory plugs to the same effect but without cutting the truck's harness.

I heard of dyno proof that the VG30DE doesn't make any more power than a VG30E up to a certain RPM, 4000 or 4500 or something like that. And it will not fit without cutting in to the frame.
-
At least in 1995 models, both amps are in the rear right next to each other.

door lock timer?

I think it's more of a heritage thing. Willy's didn't have doors! Most interiors of Wranglers have I've seen you can just hose them out anyway. I wouldn't dare take a hose to my truck!

Steering wheel doesn't stay aligned after alignment
silverton replied to AtvStalker's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
If you can find solid or polyurethane bushings... that's what I would do. But $13 a pop from the dealer for rubber, that's pretty good. If poly is available though... -
So the old speakers were getting power and the new ones are not? Have you pulled the speakers from the roof and checked to make sure they are wired up? Also, with an aftermarket deck and speakers it is highly recommend to bypass the factory amps.

If vehicle speed sensor is your only code, the O2 is unrelated. I recommend putting a speedometer cable in it and see if the code goes away.

Car50... if with a car like steering system... steering rack mount bushings? I know my SE-V6 200sx, oil from the filter would drip on the rack bushing which then causes it to wear out faster. the VG33 doesn't have that problem though as the filters in a different place. Something to look at though. -
Nissan didn't switch the Pathfinder to the round tooth cam gears until 94?
-
And Mr.510's 88, and my friends 94 just BARELY works. So, kudos for you two that have working hand brakes.
-
Yeah, but the cool thing about Super Blue, if it were still being available, is that you get to run the same spec'd brake fluid, but know positively when the old stuff is out. Start with blue, replace with amber. Start with amber, replace with blue, etc etc
-
Under the same name even!
-
Just because someone claims they are older than I am, does not make them more knowledgeable.
-
Well, 100% of my Pathfinder's have not had working handbrakes, and it seems to be a fairly common thing. What's the percentage of statistics that are made up anyway?
-
You do them one at a time just like a regular bleed, and it works on all five of the bleeders. Set it up like you're about to bleed them normally, but instead of pumping the pedal, leave the bleeder open until the bubbles stop. Once you don't see bubbles, close the valve and move to the next in line.
-
Seriously try a gravity bleed. And probably 98% of Pathfinders don't have a working hand brake.
-
So people keep telling me.
-
How are you bleeding? I recommend a gravity bleed as the brake pumping on/off thing has given me mixed results across several vehicles. Gravity bleed has never failed me and usually gives you a firmer pedal, only downside is that it takes much longer.
-
Those systems are wired to bypass a starter safety if equipped, which is why it's imperative if you have one, you leave it out of gear when you plan to use it.
