  1. Come down here and drive mine, then you'll be happy with yours. Jim Wolf cams are supposed to be the best. The S1s are close to the motorsport cams used in the Project Pathfinder truck. In this article you can read about a VG34 too. James
  2. I was told 7 weeks and it took 10. Yea the freight was like $105 and that was sent to where I work. To my home it would have been more. I'm very happy with it though. James
  3. When it comes to packing bearings you cant beat this tool Lisle Handy Packer It's not messy like the cones. You leave it filled with grease so it's always ready to go, it has a dust cover to save it with so crap doesn't get in it. I've owned one since 1990 and used it alot back in the day and never had a problem with it. James
  4. I bought mine back when they were still KMA. Love the bumper, it looks good and is very solid. I made a video dragging the truck with the winch and the bumper never even flexed. OffTourRoadie has one on a 96 R50 looks awesome. James
  5. The VG34 is a built up engine using parts from different engines. Nismo cams aren't available anymore. You can get Jim Wolf cams but they are expensive. The S1 would be the best option for a mostly stock engine. You can get reground cams from a few other manufactures too. James
  6. My 87 TBI gets around 13 to 14 in town too. I have also replaced everything I could, wires, cap, rotor, plugs, O2 sensor, T belt. It runs great just doesn't have much power but then again I'm used to driving a titan. It kind of sucks though that the pathy is a slug and drinks the same amount of gas as the titan. James
  7. Glad I could help. I have the whole FSM for an 89 hardbody in pdf, most of the info is the same for the pathfinder. If you are interested pm me an email and I'll send you a link to my dropbox so you can download it. It's almost 100 meg, too much to email. James
  8. My mistake, I don't know much about the 4 cylinders because I don't have one. James
  9. just a wild guess pulled out of my ___! The throttle body has passages for air to pass over the sensor, if they are plugged up with sludge and preventing the air from passing by the sensor it will not read right. These old throttle body setups are bad for building up deposits. Other than that you would need to start testing with a meter. Here are the two pages from the FSM on testing the sensor James
  10. There are a few that have been on here. The only problem if it came with the KA24 it will have smaller drive drain components. The axles are smaller, I'm not sure about the trans and transfer case. If you plan to put a KA in place of a VG you should just have to replace the transsmission with a different bell housing. Member 12A is the one that blew up his KA and is planning on putting a FJ20ET replacement in it. James
  11. Get yourself a copy of the FSM for a 94 http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/pathfinder/ There isn't a digital copy for a 91 but I'm sure most of the truck is the same. Then put that haynes manual in the bathroom and use the pages to wipe with. It will be more use to you that way than as a manual. James
  12. yes the button turns it off. The only times you need to turn it off is if you are towing something more than 50% of the rated towing capacity. I always turn it off in town when you are constantly speeding up and down. It make one less shift it has to go through over and over again. Also it will shift into over drive at low speeds and lug the motor burning more gas. It wont hurt anything if you never turn it off in town, my wife doesn't even know about that button on her quest van and she is up to 150K so far with no troubles. James
  13. You can run rotella in anything! I have personally seen big trucks with 3406 cats go over a million miles on rotella. When I was in fleet maintenance we ran it in everything from the forklifts to the push mower they cut the yard with. Dodge vans, chevys, fords they all got the same oil from a drum. I hear on the boulevard forums many people use it in there bikes. My brother works for a survey company and they run it in everything including honda four wheelers. I have never seen a properly maintained engine go down with rotella in it. I even had a clark forklift that developed a bad oil leak. My boss from New Orleans kept promising to come swap it out for me but was always too busy. I finally quit putting oil in it and it ran for 3 weeks with no oil pressure on the gauge until he finally came pick it up. I was hoping it would lock up but it never did. I run rotella in my four wheeler but still use mobile one in my other vehicles. James
  14. No they wont settle, I had the same problem. That is why I pulled mine off and got some jeep springs like I should have done in the first place. You won't be able to get the front even close to leveling it out. Even with 1/2" ball joint spacers in the front with the control arms on the rubber stoppers mine was 2 inches lower in the front. The axle were at a steep angle too. James
  15. The braided wire is a shielding for two of the sensor wires. It is grounded at the ECM but doesn't connect to anything at the sensor. The injectors and several other sensors have this shielding to protect them from electrical interference from other fields around them. If you look in the FSM for 94 on page EF & EC 10 you can see the shielding is around two of the wires and connects to the ECM on terminal 39. James
  16. Its too long for our trucks anyway, once you cut the front to length the hight is right for the step in the roof. James
  17. this happened on my 06 titan too. I just replaced the amp and it has been good so far but that was only around 5K ago. James
  18. I have that exact problem with mine. I haven't had the time to check it yet but I'm pretty sure it's either the motor or trans mount. It doesn't pop out much just driving around but when I pulled a trailer it popped out alot. It feels like something is pushing it out and not the trans disengaging its self. and it only does it if I let off the throttle for a turn and then start accelerating again. If I just put it in third, accelerate and shift to 4th it won't pop out. I am planning to get some mounts from rugged rock for the motor, and just a stock trans mount. James
  19. Titan's VK56 calls for the same filter number as the quest VG33. There isn't much room in there for a bigger filter either. I almost buried my KMA into the side of my supervisors ford at lunch yesterday. He decided to run a stop sign to cut in front of me and for some reason I instinctively hit the gas instead of the brake. Last minute he stopped in the middle of the road, he must have realize who I was and that I wasn't going to stop! Several guys at the shop told me they would have payed for the damage. James
  20. I love it when they feel the need to put "don't drop" on the part. Like someone was going to drop it on purpose. They should put "If you just dropped it your probably screwed". James
  21. I bought my WD21 because it is smaller to fit in tight trails. I could have gotten a r50 cheaper than what I paid for my 87. James
  22. I'm not sure on this system but I fought an EGR problem on a chevy because of too little back pressure in the exhaust. I think the BPT samples the exhaust back pressure to close the EGR when you let off the throttle. If the engine returns to an idle with the EGR still open it will stall. When you let off the throttle you will get a temporary vacuum in the exhaust system. This tells the BPT to cut vacuum to the EGR so it will close. Removing the converter can screw up this operation by giving the exhaust system too little back pressure for the BPT to close and send vacuum to the EGR. Then you will probably get a check engine light. This is the problem I had with the chevy. New EGR and EGR solenoid, and lots of testing and still had problems. Put two new converters on the exhaust and problem was gone. James
  23. I was eyeballin a 4 door frontier at work a couple of days ago. They have some pretty big flares, I wonder if they would fit on a WD21? James
  24. That is good to know. I'm slowly working on putting the MPFI fuel injection from a 94 on my 87. I would have fought problems for a while not knowing about the different O2. Sucks though that I bought a new $130 O2 last year for the 87 and won't be able to use it. Good thing I have the whole 94 to rob parts from. James
  25. Ok got some pics The KMA isn't a one piece bumper, they probably make a generic bumper and make brackets for different vehicles. My camera apparently didn't want to wake up this morning because all the pics I tried of the full bracket came out like this. You can still see how the bracket is made and bolts up. I don't have a body lift and apparently they never made brackets for no body lift because they were too high, that is why I have the flat bar between the bracket and frame. I also used longer bolts than the ones they supplied. The good thing about this design is if I go with a body lift later I just need to make spacers to go between the bumper and brackets. Here's a underside shot of the factory brackets bolted to the blank tab on the bumper And top side I see I got some rust going on under there, maybe I should wash it more often. Lol! James
