  1. The owners manual for a 88 states both sizes, 15 7/8 Gal - 60 liters or 21 1/8 gal - 80 liters. Since all WDs are the same if my 87 has a 15 gal and my 94 parts truck has a 21 I could just swap them out right? James
  2. The only comments I found on cardone axles were that they were crappy chinese axles, but I've seen quite a few guys on here using them with no problems. I did read one comment that they would bind up sooner than the OEM axles be the guy said they may have just been tight because they were new. The main problem I'm worried about is the rep the chinese have for using inferior steel. I read some post on a toyota board about advance auto's line of axles where the guy kept twisting the splines off the differential end of the axles. Obviously not hard enough steel. The toyota front axle has splines that go into the differential, I much prefer our flange type axle than having to pull the shaft out of the differential and worry about damaging the seal. Of course it's easier to change the seal on that style to so I guess there are good points either way. The rockauto axles are lifetime warranty? I may still get the O'reilly axles so if I have a problem I just go throw them on the counter instead of having to ship them back. James
  3. You lucky you didn't fry anything with AC voltage. Did you get another 60 amp? James
  4. Yea because a lot of things are different on the 87. I didn't know till I got mine that the all clear code for the ECM is 44 on an 87 instead of code 55 like the newer trucks. James
  5. That lower pic is the one I used, I still have an extra one in my tool box and thats where it's going to stay! I didn't know they had a split type bushing for the lower control arm. Sure would be easier to install but I wonder how long it will last and if it will have issues with squeaking. If ever I need to change mine again I will find out. Are you definitely changing your lowers? I'm looking at changing my axles too. I want to keep my factory axles because only the boots are busted so I want to buy new axles not remans. It seems every place that sells new axles are chinese made. I'm looking at masterpro select from O'reilly, I haven't read anything negative about them yet. I may have just not searched enough though. What brand were you looking at? James
  6. That's easy enough to do Mattracks As long as you have an unlimited checking account!
  7. getting the bushing out shouldn't be bad with a torch just messy. I used a hole saw to eat out the rubber and then cut a slit in the steel band with a hack saw and then drove it out with a chisel. Getting the new bushing in was the PITA! Get a 5/8" all thread and some coupling nuts to make a puller. The coupling nuts are made for joining two pieces of all thread together and are around 1 1/2" long and give you much more thread surface. Then use washers and a variety of deep sockets or make spacers to pull the bushing back into the frame. This is a pic from the FSM of the factory tool you need to replicate. Good luck! James
  8. Mine seemed to always make noise too in the summer. It also roars for a minute or two when I start it up cold. It seemed ok when inspecting it with engine off. I changed it anyway with a new unit and I have the same situation as before except my wallet is $50 lighter. James
  9. Trucks are not for climbing trees! can't say I wouldn't have tried it too. Lol!
  10. A bitch to deal with is an under statement! If they look ok leave them alone. It requires special tools and you won't get it without making or buying something. I bent up a 5/8" all thread trying to pull the new bushing back in there. One of mine was bad because the truck was wrecked before I got it. After changing that side I left the other side alone! James
  11. Are you planning to tow the pathfinder or use the pathfinder to tow a trailer? It sounds like you want to tow the pathfinder behind something. That write up suggested above is for installing a plug for towing a trailer with a 4 light setup. To use the pathy as the trailer with a 5 light setup it's pretty much the same just using a different adapter you can't use the same adapter and wire it backwards. You will need an adapter to go from a 4 light setup to a 5 light setup. I did this on a small toyota car back in 92. You just connect the wires in the same place and then run the plug to the front of the vehicle.
  12. Yes the 45-70 drops like a rock after around 150 yards but if you know your drops it's a pretty accurate rock. I was using an Iphone program to work out drops. I tried for the 300 yard gong but couldn't tell where I was hitting. I had to come up 51 clicks on my scope so that was pushing it. I was only playing at this point I wouldn't try for a deer at that range with the 45-70. Several states around here changed the primitive rules to allow for certain types of single shot action 45-70 to be used in place of muzzle loaders. I got an H&R crack barrel. It's a quicker follow up shot but the part I like the most is if I shoot it I can still wait till I get home to clean it instead of having to start taking it apart at camp. James
  13. I meant I don't like getting dirty if I don't have to. I'm sure by Saturday night my backside tasted like dirt! I was so covered in dust that I'm sure my butt crack had some too. I understand the problems our military has in Iraq. After getting my glock covered in dust the bullets wouldn't even come out of the magazine, I had to shake them out. I will have to strip it completely apart and submerge all the parts to get the dust out of it. I should have know better. It would have been just fine riding on the seat in my pathy though. James
  14. I've used seafoam before, and the truck already would run that smooth, That's why I was upset about the way it was running. Totally out of it's character. We were going to our hunting camp to put up some corn feeders and my brother wanted me to pull a trailer to bring a box blind to put up later so he offered to put me some gas. He had money on a walmart card so we filled it up with murphy gas. I had problems with murphy gas in my old chevy and apparently the pathy doesn't like it either. So I guess my advice would be stay away from walmart gas! No the cut finger didn't slow me down. The hunting rifle I had to sight in was a 45-70 for primitive season, the 50 is just a play toy. I got the 45-70 hitting good up to 200 yards so it's ready. I wouldn't want to carry that 50 in the woods anyway. Notice in the picture I'm leaning to one side to avoid falling over, that thing is HEAVY! James
  15. Apologized to the pathy for not taking it to the hunting camp this past weekend. Instead I road my honda 4 wheeler through the 4 to 5 inches of dust on all the wooded trails till I was so covered in dust I couldn't recognize my glock 22 that was on my belt. I swore I'd never leave the pathy home again, it keeps me all clean in those situations! I've become such a candy ass! James
  16. Well it looks like my problem was just crappy gas. I tanked it up Sunday, then left early for work Tuesday so I could ride around and it only died out once. Did the same thing Wednesday and it never died but still had the hesitation around 5k. Changed the fuel filter (which I had just changed around 5k ago) Wednesday afternoon and it seems to be running like it used to. I should have known my dependable little pathy wasn't being bad, it just had a little indigestion. James
  17. I think I heard Homer Simpson at the end of your video! James
  18. X2 I was going to say that! First because it's a new motor make sure it does turn, course I'm sure you already checked that. Next connect a volt meter to the small wire going to the solenoid that activates it. Now hit the key and see how much voltage is going to the starter solenoid. The solenoids on these trucks obviously require alot of amperage since nissan uses such a large wire in the harness. When I did this test on my truck I was only getting 9 volts to the solenoid. After I did the relay mod it's getting a solid 12 volts and has started every time. To test if you need this mod, with the starter fully installed connect another wire to the small terminal on the solenoid and touch it to the positive terminal on the battery. If it cranks over do the relay mod and you should be good. James
  19. It's a Vulcan, not the best (I really want an AR50) but still sends 1/2" rounds down range. We sighted it at 200 yards. Mostly just playing with it on this run because 50s are against the rules at our range so we were hurrying just so everyone could get a few shots before anyone else got there. A buddy is building up his berms at his range so we can get it sighted in better and check accuracy. I'm not sure who made the barrel, they don't even state it on there web site. This one was a used gun so I don't have any paper work with it. James
  20. Thanks man, it's fun as hell to shoot too. It doesn't really kick but pushes you back about 6 to 8 inches and blows so much gas back from the muzzle brake that If I had a hat on it would have blown it off! James
  21. Me too kind of retains the factory look but meaner! James
  22. That's cool, I had never seen a nissan. I have seen a toyota locally several years back. It had the little diesel motor in it. James
  23. Your welcome. I love playing in the pick a part, I even have a VIP card! James
  24. I thought is was good after isolating the coil wire but before I left for the shooting range I tried it again and it wouldn't start. When I got back from the range it cranked over a little longer than normal and then started so I went to town and filled the tank. It ran great accept for wanting to cut out at 5K when I ran the hell out of it. Thanks for all the suggestions I will start checking it this afternoon. It would have to start screwing up right before hunting season too! We had a blast (and I mean a real blast) at the shooting range though. Check out the new toy, 50 BMG!
