Doesn't an isuzu rodeo have a dana 44 rear? Same wheel bolt pattern too. James

It probably has fluid in it to smooth out the vibrations of the motor, your Q is a luxury vehicle. You could probably use a mount for the same year pathfinder with the same engine. Do be careful till you change it. I ignored the mounts in a dodge company vehicle once. I stepped on it once to many and the other mount finally let go and the motor turned sideways by about 3 inches. Was a lot of fun to fix on the side of the interstate at 9pm with nothing to lift the motor but the factory jack. James

Here you go. Yes my camera was acting stupid in the first pic. I have spacers between the mount and frame because the bumper was hitting the grill. I guess they never made a mount for a truck with no body lift. In the fourth pic you can see the blank tabs they have going back half way to where the factory bumper mount bolted up at. I just put the factory mounts back in and bolted them to the blank tabs. You can see that in the last pic. I had to cut the 2 inch hole that the battery cables are coming out of too. It's a very solid mount setup, I can drag the truck with the wheels locked and it doesn't flex at all. James

That makes scene. Earlier you mentioned they make a 4" and 6" lift spring too? I didn't measure when I changed mine but I don't think I got three inches of lift and would like to get just a little more. When I had it aligned the tech raised my front end a little to help get it in spec I guess because of the AC arms. So now it sits level and sometimes a little lower in the back. a set of those 4 inch lift springs should put it right where I want it. James

1988 Pathfinder Problem with Idle?
JamesRich replied to WarthogWD21's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
Not always, I just changed mine a few months ago. If the engine was cold it would start right up. If I shut it off when the engine was warm and wait 5 minutes or more I was screwed and had to wait till it cooled off. What was weird though once it was running it never quit. It did this to me when I was hunting. I slept in the next morning and she started right up. I loaded up and drove an hour and a half back home with no problems. Shut it off at home and it started right back up. Gave it 5 minutes and it wouldn't start. Changed the crank angle sensor and everything was good again. Drove back to the hunting camp. This guys case though it just sounds like he installed something wrong. James -
Put your crank on the first notch to the left, should be 0 and then pull just your top cover. The cam marks should tell you if it's off. James

1988 Pathfinder Problem with Idle?
JamesRich replied to WarthogWD21's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
Make sure your wires are in the correct order, and they are all good. I've seen a 86.5 hardbody have a dead miss and throw a crank angle code after washing the engine. After replacing the plug wires it ran fine and the code was gone. If you have never changed the coolant switch it wouldn't hurt. James -
I put pictures up of the mounts for mine somewhere around here. It would be hard to diminution the mounts as they are curved. Someone good at fabbing should be able to take the pics and go from there just measuring how it would fit their truck. My bumper design looks like they make a generic bumper meant to fit any small truck and then make mounts for the different vehicles. James

How's this for for non square displacement. My suzuki boulevard 109, bore 112.0mm, stroke 90.5mm. Pushes 127 hp out of two cylinders. Haven't found another V twin that will keep up with it yet! Pretty much any harley is a joke next to this thing. I've seen chevy 383s built two ways. One was turn down the 400 crank to fit the 350 block and build basically a long stroke 350. Or use special main bearings in the 400 block to use a 350 crank and build basically a short stroke 400. The long stroke 350 works best in a truck where it needs heavy pulling power. But in a light car, (we used a 79 corvette) The short stroke 400 was insane! This is the same reason the old 289 chevy motor was so popular, for fast revving power you can't beat a short stroke with large pistons. James

I think the jeep lift springs I had were rough country. They were on a 2wd Cherokee and it had stickers all over the dash and one was a rough country sticker. They were around 19" long and a bitch to get in. They rode like the factory springs but had to be a little stiffer rate because the wire diameter was .55 where as my factory springs were .5 but I really couldn't tell the difference. I prefered them over the V8 GJC springs, I wish one wouldn't have broke! James
-
Get some 3" lift springs for a regular jeep Cherokee. They are .55 dia, instead of the .6 dia and taller than the GJC V8 springs but give you about the same lift. I had a set of these that I found in the pic a part. They rode better than the V8 GJC springs but one of them broke when I jumped a hill. James

I don't understand the price difference he is talking about. VG33 are in more vehicles now than VG30s. I got a running VG33 out of a villager van for $160. As for parts just about everything is interchangeable. James

I have progressive insurance and they would have put collision on my 25 year old pathy if I wanted. I have full coverage on both my other vehicles and my motorcycle with them too. With just basic coverage on the pathy my monthly note went up $8 when I added the pathy on. I guess that's one perk from being 42. Now I'm about to add a 16 year old daughter onto my policy, I'm sure that's going to hurt! James

I bought mine back when they were KMA. I read about their delivery problems before so I knew I would have to wait. When I ordered it he told me 6 to 7 weeks. It ended up taking 10 weeks but I'm very happy with the bumper. I have pics from when it was new here. James

To truly flush the system you need to take the return line off of the reservoir and cap the fitting on the reservoir where the hose was. Run the return hose to a bucket, extend it if needed. Have someone start it up for you while you keep the reservoir full with fresh fluid. Have them turn the wheel back and forth while it is flushing. Once clean fluid is coming out the return line connect it back to the reservoir and top it off. Flushing is usually for maintenance. If you already have a problem flushing might not help. You would definitely want to flush it like this really well before putting a new pump. James

Just start tearing it apart. Remove parts till you find the problem. James
-
With the front tires and the plastic guards removed it wasn't too bad. You'll need a swivel and long extensions though. The worst one was the one under the air box. After removing all the bolts from the mount you'll have to remove the lower aluminum bracket to get the mount out. You don't need to jack the motor for the two mounts that bolt to the trans, just for the ones directly under the motor. I did the CV boots a while back, they aren't bad either. You don't even loose any trans oil when you pull the shafts out. On the pathy if I have to pull the torsion bars to get the tranny out, it's time for some sway-aways! James
-
I made my pathy jealous so it decided to get back at me! Sunday I worked on my 01 quest. I changed the oil, changed both front and rear sway bar end links, and three of the motor mounts so the motor quits flopping around. Drove the pathy to work Monday and the pilot bushing that would squeal every now and then is now squealing steady as long as I hold the clutch in! I really hate to go through all that work to change such a cheap part but I guess now I have to. James

Just a tip about running it through the vacuum line. Don't use the brake booster line, try to get it through the PCV line even if you have to add a piece of hose to it to reach. The sludge your trying to clean out all came in as oil vapors through the PCV. By poring the seafoam in through the PCV your starting at the source of the sludge. James

Extreme Cold Weather Problem
JamesRich replied to frecklecolouredbrain's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
Now I see why my ancestors moved here from Nova Scotia! I don't think it's ever gone below 0 here. The coldest I remember is 15F and that's plenty cold enough for me! James -
That sounds pretty bad! The way it quiets down when you rev it suggest a lifter that is just totally collapsing at idle. It's loud enough to be a rod knock too. Do you hear it more on top or under the truck? If on top more on the passenger side or driver side? If you hear it more under the truck I would say it's a rod knock but a rod knock will get louder under load. If it's on top I'd go with a lifter but if it's collapsing that bad it could damage your cam if it hasn't already. James

Were the different models year specific? Anyway to know which ones to look for? James

Where WD21 vehicles were built: Kyushu, Japan
JamesRich replied to jwblue's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
The first year titan built by american workers had a lot of bolts they didn't turn. Lots of rattles in the dash and other places and when you took them apart you would find bolts that were started and never tightened. I kept my first titan, an 04 for 17 months and still don't know why I bought another one after the problems I had with the first one. This one has been better. James
