  1. I have the same problem, no storage on the bike so I have to wear all the gear back home. As long as I don't have to stop too long it's ok. James
  2. My brother works for a offshore survey company and the use a lot of this paint. Hammerite James
  3. I'm just stating what I found, make your own conclusion. James
  4. One thing to remember, different plug wires will have different resistance that could change your ignition timing. If it takes longer for the spark to get to the plug because of increased resistance it will retard your timing and make it run retarded! I found this problem with my brothers 94 Z71. He put autozone wires on it and it ran sluggish. When I checked the timing it was 4 degrees retarded. James
  5. I have an 06 titan crew 2wd. The only problem I had was the radiator cracking at 40k. Obviously a defect but nissan wouldn't admit it. I've read about the differential failures too but haven't seen one locally from any of the people I know with titans. On clubtitan may peoples truck had no gear oil in the rear when the got it so that may be the cause of a lot of failures. Plus some came with the axle vent plugged off causing lots of problems. I'm at 70k right now and just bought a 8000 pound camper so I guess I'll see how that little dana44 holds up. The titans came with a bench seat with a fold down console but they wern't as common as the buckets unless you get an XE. My god child just got an 08 ram with a hemi and it does ride better than my titan but I have stiffer sway bars on the titan. We didn't run them but after driving the ram I'm pretty sure the titan would show him the tail gate. I've passed several pissed off hemi owners before with the titan but none of the newer ones. I'm calming down in my old age! I agree with nismothunder about the gearing, it should be a lot lower for towing when you add in the size of the factory tires. Then maybe it wouldn't get 8 mpg towing a camper. The titans suck for fuel economy all around. Most people I talk to average 12 with mixed driving. James
  6. It sounds like you have a whole bag of hammers in there! James
  7. It's probably your master cylinder, mine does the same thing. Mine apparently leaks while just sitting. I hadn't driven it for a while and when I went to move it the other day it was empty. The booster shows a leak but never has fluid dripping off of it. I have a new master cylinder for disk brakes just need the time to swap the disk on. James
  8. Instead of working on my pathfinder like I had planned to do I let my wife drag me shopping and bought this! She didn't have much trouble dragging me though. The titan will have it's ass full now! It weights 8K I will need air bags for sure! So now instead of working on the pathfinder I will be under the titan. James
  9. Ok let me rephrase, If an xterra shows up I will take off any parts that I find useable on my pathfinder. Better? Lol! James
  10. You gotta love idiots that always know better. (we have one here) They are a good source of entertainment though. James
  11. The same with our pick a part, the only X I saw to get my roof rack from was a cash for clunker vehicle. I watch the pick a part alot. If an X shows up I will take off work to go rape it! James
  12. I'm glad we don't get snow down here! When it gets cold enough to ice the roads the whole city shuts down! James
  13. Looked at it sitting on my slab in the back yard with the transmission on the side. The slab looks like an island, it needs to quit raining! James
  14. I had found these and planned to make my own link but as usual could never find the time so I just ordered the grass roots link. I think the ones he uses have a nylon sleeve though were as the one in the link are all metal and would require a grease zerk added. James
  15. These look like they are pretty new, but has anyone tried them? They claim better fuel mileage and their theory sounds good. It should keep the spark in one place which should keep it consistent. Advance auto shows to have them for $3 for my titan, I might give them a try. James
  16. It looks like we got the edge of the storm, As of last night I hadn't seen any rain yet just lots of wind. Up to 50 mph gust. It looks like y'all getting all the fun from this one. Good luck and try to stay dry! This weather is probably my fault! My dad gave me his old camper to put at my hunting lease, but it needs some repairs before I bring it out there. As long as it sits in my driveway the weather is going to try and tear it up. I need to get it out of here! James
  17. I finished yanking the trans out, that is one big chunk of iron! I've pulled transmissions out of half ton trucks that weren't that big. With only 116K I'm sure its the factory clutch, it said nissan on it, but it looked brand new and clean. I never pulled a clutch that was that clean. Pilot bearing was bone dry but the input shaft wasn't galled at all. Now that I have the trans out sitting on the side of the truck it's supposed to storm really bad for the next few days so it looks like I'm done for now. Both my trans mount and motor mounts are good. I was hoping one of them was bad letting the trans move and popping it out of third gear. Since it's out I may pull the case off and see if I can find anything wrong inside. Between that and the broken bolts in the exhaust, it will be a while before she is rolling again. James
  18. I finally got off my ass and started pulling the trans to change the pilot bushing. Of course I broke a few bolts dropping the exhaust so now I will have to put headers. I'm sure I will break a few studs in the heads too taking of the manifolds so I probably opened a nice fat can of worms! Headers should do wonders for this motor look at how small the factory pipe is. And a teaser for you guys that had to pull a starter on a auto trans truck. I pulled the two starter bolts, unplugged the oil sending unit, removed a small bolt holding the battery cable to the oil pan and the whole thing came out the front without removing the battery cable or any steering parts. Maybe 5 minutes. James
  19. Yea you might have found a good alternative. I thought about trying this but everyone I talked to said it wasn't as strong so I didn't give it another thought. Make an extra set and send it to unccpathfinder, if he cant break it your good! James
  20. It looks like the hold down pin on the left side was broken and not holding the shoe very well but it came off the wheel cylinder when you were pulling the drum off. If the shoe would have been off of the wheel cylinder while braking the wheel cylinder would have come apart. The shoe was probably dragging and causing the over heating issue so you should have fixed that problem. James
  21. If it's an auto trans, a cracked flex plate will make an awful pinging and popping noise when cranking and idling but will quiet down when you rev it. It will have nothing to do with how it runs though. Could be two unrelated issues. James
  22. I seem to remember someone else saying this before, about some hood vents possibly. James
  23. Here is the pic from the FSM. What you red squared is the differential yoke where you need to disconnect it. It looks like an identical flange at the center support bearing, looks like six bolts on each side. You need to make sure that the drive shaft has enough compressed length since you lowered the truck. I saw in a pic you posted of your short springs it looks like you removed the bump stops too. If the drive shaft slip yoke is bottoming out and pressing against the differential when the suspension is fully compressed it could screw up the bearing in the front of the differential. I have seen this happen on a buddies 65 impala low rider. James
  24. I really don't have a need for sliders but I could go for a set of those. James
  25. You are talking about that random knocking noise? That couldn't be a bearing. You don't have u joints, It looks like a type of CV joint. I had never seen that on the rear shaft. You should pull the shaft and rotate them around feeling for binding. The FSM calls that a birfield joint and just says do not disassemble. You probably have to replace the whole shaft when they go bad. When on stands can you feel the random noise coming from anything? James
