  1. I was thinking the same thing, they in a world of crap up there! I hope everything turns out ok for everyone. It would suck to loss your house to wild fires. James
  2. I've been looking for some bulkhead connectors too for when I put lights on top. I talked to a friend of mine that builds fire trucks and he mentioned this place. http://www.austinhardware.com/ I haven’t had time to search their web site yet. He also told me that when they need a lot of wires through the roof they just use a grommet and silicone! I'm not putting silicone on my roof. We need bulkhead connectors that can handle some decent amperage. Most that I find are for small gauge wire. James
  3. Not from experience on my pathfinder but magnaflow mufflers have way less drone than flowmasters. I had a 40 series flowmaster on my titan that would rattle the radio face plate at certain rpms. I replaced it with a 18" magnaflow and the drown was just a little more than stock. James
  4. useing a shop vac for gasoline could turn out bad! James
  5. I remembered another story which could have been off road, I’m hell on company vehicles! I was working as a fleet repair mechanic for a Pepsi bottling company. The company truck I had was an 84 Toyota diesel pick up with a work bed on the back. Back in 92 or 93 we had a really bad flood. Most of the town had water and in some places half way up people’s houses. I found a way home with not too much water. While cruising through the water and all the belts were slipping I’m thinking nothing will stop this thing because there’s no distributor to get wet. I crossed a small bridge and the road dipped down that the water was coming over the hood and it never stopped! Made it home that night with no problem. Next morning I picked a different route that actually had less water. BUT while I’m putting along a big jacked up jeep crosses me with his foot to the floor! When the wave he was pushing hit the grill of my little truck it sucked the water right up the intake and locked the motor solid! Of course I tried to hit the key and it was locked. After a couple of minutes the water started seeping in till it was up to the seat. Finally I got an idea. I took off my boots and rolled up my pants then got my tools and pulled all the glow plugs out. Even though the starter was completely submerged it spun the motor over until all the water came out. I put the plugs back and it started up but had blown the rings out of cylinder 3. The pressure in the crankcase would blow the dipstick out and puff like a steam train. I backed it out the water and drove it to work. The most speed I could get was 35 mph but they didn’t have to send a tow truck for me! James
  6. I didn't put those metal brakets back on mine. I figured when I weight it down the brakets wern't doing anything anyway. James
  7. I put a 3"x 30" cherry bomb glass pack on my titan and it was loud! The drone was bad with the full pipe so I cut it right after the axle. It reduced the drone but made it even louder. Both me and my neighbors were glad when I put a 18" magnaflow on it with the full pipe again. I'm still waiting on my pipes for my pathfinder. James
  8. I thought about making a compartment like this under my rear seats for a truck gun. It was just an idea so far, I didn't look to see if there would be enough space for what I need. My floor doesn't have any rust back there or else I would have done it already. It would be cool to have a place to leave an old rifle and some ammo out of the way of prying eyes. James
  9. You still driving it around with open headers! We do need a video of that. James
  10. That's great! I'm sure the MPI should have better top end then the TBI. You get a chance to see what fuel mileage is like? James
  11. My story wasn’t off road and wasn't a pathfinder but it still sucked! I was working as a fleet mechanic for a spring water company and I took care of two branch fleets. Once a week I would go to Alexandria, 80 miles away to just check fluid and general conditions because the drivers never would. I just brought basic tools because I didn't do any major work at that branch. I drove an 89 dodge half ton pickup with a compressor on the back that had no power so I pretty much drove it to the floor most of the time. I had been ignoring a separated motor mount for a few months because after recently changing it, it lasted maybe 8 months and tore again so I wasn’t in a rush to change it again. Around 9 pm I left the branch heading home and stopped at a convenience store for a snack for the 80 mile drive home. Getting back on the interstate I punched it as I usually do and somewhere around 3500 rpms the other motor mount let go and the engine twisted over a few degrees and the fan started digging into the shroud. I surveyed the situation and decided I could use the factory jack to lift the motor and push it back in place. So while I'm under there fighting with it the only flashlight I have burns out! Going from memory and feel I finally got the motor over enough so the fan wasn’t touching the shroud and drove home at 45 mph taking off really slowly! The next day I got two motor mounts from the dealer and two new flashlights! James
  12. The pulley from a 60 amp pathy alternator needs a spacer to fit but the pulley from a 70 amp pathy alternator fits right on. I'm not sure what year they went from 60 to 70 amp but I got mine from a 94. James
  13. I thought that was a flux capacitor he was going to add to his pathfinder. James
  14. So you have a V8 in your pathfinder? Where's the pics? James
  15. How much smaller is the factory bushing? With enough clearance you could get a machine shop to turn a sleeve to make the factory bushing fit. James
  16. Yea I got burned by rock auto too. I never had a problem with their parts before but the reverse light switch I just got from them was shorted. As soon as I turned on the key it blew the fuse. It's not worth sending back for $10 so I got one from Orielly for $14 and all is good. James
  17. That’s it! I had never seen one before, not even a commercial. Course I hardly ever watch TV. I searched kia and hyundai but never thought about isusu. It was really cool looking but really small. Didn't look like it could carry much gear, course neither does a jeep. With its wide stance and short wheel base it should be capable off road. It was a girl driving it, I would have liked to talk to her. With the Moab stickers on the back she apparently likes off roading if she drives that far to do it. James
  18. I'm trying to figure out what I saw yesterday leaving work. I was on my bike so I couldn't get any pictures. It was a fairly new 4X4 vehicle that looked like a small 2 door car with huge fender. Sounded like a tiny motor when they took off. The axles were wider than the car, that’s where the huge fenders came in. From the back it looked like a hatch back with a spare tire compartment molded into the hatch from the inside. It had what looked like a factory CB antenna mount on the round molded section. I know that’s not much to go on but I have never seen anything like this before. It almost looked built but I could tell it was a factory produced vehicle. Or someone did a really good job! It was at least a few years old because it had Moab stickers from 2010 on the back glass. I believe it had a Louisiana plate so they must like to travel. It have what looked like street tread tires on it but really big for the size of the vehicle. I couldn't find one badge on it to try to determine what it was they were haulin ass when the light changed and it's got me very curious. From the side it looked like an old 2 door honda civic hatch back with really big fenders. James
  19. I've had problems with the regulator before. There is a plastic clip that holds the cable sheathing to the regulator frame that breaks and lets the sheathing move instead of the cable. The window would go all the way down but not up. When I pulled it up it had a lot of slack as the sheathing would move around. Once up it stayed in place with no problems. James
  20. So you ran the wires individually through the boot? I pulled the harness from my parts truck as one big harness and tried to keep it together with the ECU plug on one end. I guess I could cut it and resplice them all once I get them through but that would be a lot of extra work. Looks like you have a lot of fun issues to work out. Good luck! Would it be a problem to try a pathfinder MAF instead of the M30? Since your not getting any codes I would think it's a problem from mixing parts. Just a quick guess. James
  21. Does the suzuki have a nissan motor in it or did suzuki put their own? To sell it that much cheaper they had to change something. James
  22. That's awesome! Now I need some pics of how you ran your wiring through the cab and where you mounted your ECU. James
  23. It's really hard to diagnose something like this without seeing the vehicle. If you are loosing brakes as soon as it dies out you brake booster could be what is leaking. Or the check valve is broken. IF the motor still has good vacuum even with the motor shut off for days the booster should still have vacuum in it. It still sounds like stopped up exhaust to me but you said you checked all that. If the air can't get out the motor can't pull any air in which would cause low vacuum. The only other thing that would cause low vacuum (other than a big leak) is if you ran the motor hot for a long period of time and collapsed the rings and it just doesn't have enough compression to pull much vacuum. Get a compression gauge and run a compression check on it. Most part houses loan them. First thing you need to do is pull the vacuum hose off of the brake booster and plug it to see if that makes a difference. James
  24. To see if your muffler is clogged just disconnect it after the cat and take it for a drive. If you have a vacuum gauge you can check exhaust restriction with it. When you hold the motor at a rev say 2000rpms it should have more vacuum than at idle. When you let the throttle go it should jump up a few inches and then come down. If you get less vacuum the higher you rev it then it's definitely clogged. The reason you never heard what tungsten told you is because it's bull @!*%! You ever see a dragster run a quarter mile by giving it half throttle to take off? If the motor is tuned right and nothing is wrong it will go no matter how much throttle you give it. It's not normal for these trucks either. I can stomp mine to the floor and it goes with no hesitation from being flooded with air! Maybe tungsten has too much air somewhere. If his truck does this then there is something wrong with it. James
