1. Good idea, I'll have to do that because I'm always dragging over things in the woods. I never really slowed down long enough to notice how long they were. This was my last trip to one of my hunting spots. A large tree fell across the fire lane so I had to go around it. I got stuck crossing over a smaller tree on the ground then when I got over the tree it sunk to the axles. This was going in so I had to take the same route going back out. When I was finally past the downed tree on the way out I could hear something dragging. When I got back to the road so I didn't have to lie down in the mud I found this wrapped around my drive shaft. Took me 45 minutes with a pair of cutting pliers to snip it all off. That was the first coat of mud for my new muffler. It's very easy to install, you will need to jack the rear up to get the tail pipe over the axle but everything else I did without a jack. The part you will have trouble with is the cat so it might be a good idea to just order a new one. The bolts that hold cat to the pipe both front and back are threaded into the flange on the cat, no nuts behind it so they will probably break. I broke all four on the original cat. The cat on my truck right now is from my 94 parts truck. I broke one bolt in this one and had to drill it out. I went ahead and ran a 3/8 x 16 tap right through the metric thread and then put a nut behind the flange. James
2. Finally got the photobucket app on my phone to work again! Here are a bunch of pics nice186 wanted. It's been to the woods so it's covered with mud and looks like it's been on there for a year already but it's only been installed for a month. That's why I went for the stainless system. It came with a tip but I didn't put it on. The tail pipe was about a 1/4 inch from the hitch so I cut 1/4 inch off the tail pipe to give it more clearance. Other than that it was a perfect fit install. I haven't had the time or help to make a good video so I grabbed this with my phone one morning leaving for work, at 4 in the morning. It's running with the fast idle around 1500rpms. James
3. Changed the plug on my TPS on the back side of the TBI. The two wires were covered with corrosion and y'all wouldn't believe how bad it will run without that connected! James
4. I have to agree with tungsten on the Nissan blocks. I've never pulled the heads on a Nissan motor that had a ridge in the cylinders. Usually you can still see some of the hone cross hatch patterns. Then again I haven't pulled the heads on that many Nissan because they usually don't quit if they are maintained properly. My first job out of UTI was a engine replacement shop. I swapped one VG30 in a 86 300ZX turbo because a rich teenager owned it since it was new and finally spun a rod at 60k. Maybe a couple of Z24s but that was it for Nissans and we had 5 guys swapping 3 to 4 motors a week each. James
5. I'll try to get some pics this afternoon. I was screwing with it last night checking fuel pressure and I think I screwed up the TPS while trying to get the fuel hose off. Now it's just dumping fuel and barely running! Crap! A week before my first hunting trip too. James
6. Your half right about the pipe being welded which still counts as a wrong! The muffler has a flange welded to the front which bolts right to the convertor but the tail pipe just slides into the back of the muffler and is held with a clamp. You can't get all the info from just looking at the picture. You could use the tail pipe on another muffler if you want. Also it's not silent until you rev it up. Yesterday I stopped at the post office at lunch and left it running because my wife was sitting in it. I could hear it idling from inside the post office. It does sound really good just I was hoping it would be quieter for hunting. I guess I have to sacrifice something for flow. James
7. My old switch worked kind of like that too. When it was half way down it had continuity then lost it when it was all the way down. The first new switch from rock auto was shorted a blew the fuse. The second new switch from Oreilly, and all is well. I had read what MY1PATH posted and hoped I didn't have that problem. James
8. Sounds like my tool box. I have it stored at my Dad's shop since I quit doing mechanic work for a living. It looks like they stuck you right on in the the fun stuff pulling motors! James
9. You need to get a life Constantine! You are the only useless thing on this forum! James
10. I think it sounds good especially in the higher rpms. I was hoping for as quiet as I could get but still with good flow because I use this truck for hunting. I don't need a pissed off bumble bee following me through the woods! Once it's warmed up the idle is pretty loud. I'll try to make a video. James
11. My mistake it's not borla it's Gibson. I'm working 12 hour days 7 days a week right now, sometimes I don't even remember where I live at the end of the day! This is the one I bought. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LG1OH6/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00 They have it in aluminized pipe too for cheaper but I wanted stainless. http://www.gibsonexhaust.com/dci.html After the best muffler shop I could get recommended building me a screwed up Y pipe for my headers I decided I would have to do my own exhaust work too. I started searching cat back systems for pathfinders and Gibson was the only cat back still in production for the WDs. I'm happy with it. It fit perfect, sounds good and helped out my performance and fuel mileage. James
12. For the WD21 borla still makes a cat back system. They say its for 93 to 95 but the only difference in the exhaust systems from 87 to 95 is the convertor is shorter after 93. I put a 94 convertor and the borla cat back on my 87 and it sounds pretty good. It gets louder when the system is hot. Helped my power and fuel mileage after the screwed up situation I had with my Y pipe so I would say the flow is pretty good. It's not a straight through muffler design and has 2 1/2 mandrel bent tail pipe. I got mine through amazon in stainless for $360 shipped. The aluminized pipe is cheaper. James
13. That shroud looks like it fits the radiator almost perfect. I have a quest fan I bought but don't like the way it fits the radiator. James
14. That's a huge mileage increase! This is your 89 pathfinder were talking about? I remember you fighting low fuel mileage. After you got your vacuum leak fixed it got a little better. I don't remember you posting about breaking a timing belt. This just sounds like the holy grail for fuel mileage. I'm about to yank the fuel injection off of mine and try a carburetor but if I could get the mileage up to that level I would leave it alone! James
15. That was my excuse, I had the transmission out to replace the pilot bearing so y put the old ones back. I got the sway aways and love them! This old pathfinder rides better than my newer titan. The ride on small bumps like washboards is a little rougher but not much. It soaks up the big bumps even better than before, I may have to try jumping it again! It handles the large bumps well even with my extra 200# of bumper and winch in the front but the ride is still smooth enough that no one would know it's not factory. James
16. Replaced the worn out Orielly Master pro lower ball joints with some Moogs. The master pros only had 2 years and around 6k miles but get dunked in mud and water a lot! Hopefully these moogs last longer. They were a lot more expensive but life time warranty! James
17. I think the difference with the R50 is the two convertors. The WD21 has a Y pipe into one convertor. From what the Australian site said the headers came with two flanges that you weld to your convertor on each side. James
18. The Nissan dealers usually takes the whole cab off of a titan to pull the motor! James
19. He doesn't have one. Everything he doesn't have sucks, at least according to him. So I guess girlfriends suck too be cause the way he trolls up almost every thread here with useless guesses he couldn't have time for a girlfriend! I had a 84 tercel just like that! same color even. It even had a clinometor on the dash. I bought it from a guy for $150 after it sat in a field for 2 years and brought it back to life. It was so light it pulled good in the mud even with street tires. I tried to find mud tires in 13" but no luck. I still should have never gotten rid of it. When we bought my wife an exterra in 2000 she convinced me to sell it to finish paying off my truck so we only had one note. The little 1.3 motor had so little power it would top out at 75mph on the interstate with the A/C on but it never quit! James
20. I think the main thing they don't want you to do to an AGM battery is use those small 1/2 amp trickle chargers. Most recommend an automatic charger that hits the battery with decent amperage. My camper convertor has a setting for regular batteries or AGM. I was planning to just add an AGM but now I will have to wait till the regular battery fails and then put two AGMs. James
21. Put on a gibson cat back. Did anyone else know gibson still makes cat back setups for our trucks? There system only fits 93 to 95 WDs but the difference is the cat is shorter from 90 to 95 so I just used a cat for a 94 and everything fit on my 87. James
22. ahardbody took apart and cleaned his motors and fixed the slow problem I think. He should chime in shortly. My passenger side does this but the driver is ok. James
23. You should be good just using regular nuts on the studs, or stainless if you don't want them to rust and know you won't have any dissimilar metal problems. When we build a tool out of inconel every part is made from it but it's mostly for it's corrosion resistant properties. I've used taps before in 718 and it usually takes three to get a decent thread in one hole. This was a communication port also so it only had .330 deep thread. Any other thread I've ever made in inconel was with a thread mill hob. James
24. Good luck with that! I curse every time I hear that material mentioned! Inconel is very abrasive but I don't know if it will be hard enough for exhaust studs. It transfers heat really well though and work hardens in a hurry! If you ever break one in the head you'll never get it out. How are you planing to thread it? If your planning on taps and dies you going to run out of taps and dies! James
