I'll make it easy. If it has never been messed iwth it should be in that "tree" of connectors on the passenger side. 3 wires. It will have that wierd jacket o2 sensors have on them. Unplug it there, fire her up, and test drive it.

Unplug the o2, and start the truck. If it runs better, you know that's what it is. If one plug is more rich like that, could be the injector is leaking. If it is, fix it quick or it will thin out your oil and wear down the cylinder walls.

Pathfinders don't have vacuum advance!

What about the timing? Distributor itself look like it was messed with at all?I would get a timing light and check. Timing belt could have jumped a tooth as well. It would run like a bag of @!*%, but it will run.

Timing belt and water pump, all fluids, service the brakes, o2 sensor, clean the MAF sensor, new thermostat, and tension/strut rod bushings.

Weathertech all the way. Husky is good too, but fit was not AS good in a 2000 pathfinder.

This is not one of those vehicles where the head gaskets just "go". It would take multiple severe overheats or running for years with water or never changing the coolant. They have 5 head bolts per cylinder!

Yes the Valve Stem seals, while not "hard" to replace, there is a lot of things to take off. You could try some high mileage oil to see if it reduces it a bit. Otherwise nothing will fix it other than replacing them.

Just throw a new (used) xterra transmission in there and be done with it. It will run you 400-800 dollars depending on where you source a trans but the truck will run forever afterwards.

Did you check all the fuses in the fuse panel? One of them will kill the cruise, and it isn't even labelled so you wouldn't know. I would just check them all and go from there. There is a computer module in the rear drivers side you have to take the trim off to get to it.

You can get a repair sleeve to fix the crankshaft. Why didn't they do that.

I suppose if you buy the direct fit one you don't have to do this? My Xterra has a cabin filter but it would be nice for the WD.

I think it is an error on the manufacturers part. There is only two cams and one crankshaft seal. My kit only came with two.

Buy a new (used) transfer case, or buy a new truck. You never reuse old snap rings on u joints...for this reason lol. Good luck. I would personally just swap in a used T-case. Can probably do it in half a day.

I just took a self tapping screw and went from the metal side into the rubber. Never had another problem. Normally I would not suggest hack fixes but removing bolts from the exhaust can be a pain.

The bolt pattern of the 2012 xterra is not the same as the pathy.

Doubtful. That sounds more like a bad o2 sensor or cylinder head temp sensor.

Cut off the flanges, and then either weld or clamp a sleeve on. Easy 1 hour fix tops. I had to do it on my parents 2000 pathy.

Why wouldn't it. Just use the intake parts off the old engine. The blocks and heads should be the same.

Sounds to me like the power valve screws may have dropped into it at some point. It has happened before. Just comp test the Jy engine before hand and you should be fine. Just check and loctite the power valve screws. There's a how to here somewhere.
