  1. The Xterra is good too but it just doesn't have that feel and character that a pathfinder has. I mean I like both but I if I had to get rid of one the choice would be easy.
  2. This guy's videos are really helpful. It's where I got the idea to do it on my friends car. It is still holding up fine.
  3. Mine doesn't do that. I have all gears even when cold...only thing it waits for is the locking of torque converter.
  4. It is 40 teeth between the cams and 43 between the drivers cam and the crank marks.
  5. How would you know, you never come to Ottawa But you are correct. Mine is the only one I ever see driving around.
  6. It is almost unheard of for the oil pump to leak on these. I would ensure all the bolts are torqued down, replaced the front main seal and go from there. Mine had the same problem. The whole bottom of the timing belt cover was soaked, as was the oil pan and crossmember below..
  7. Did this start right after the rotor replacement? Or after a little while? Check to make sure there aren't imprints on the rotors in the shape of pads. That is the cause of a lot of vibrations. do you feel any play in the bearings at all when grabbing the tires? If not it's probably fine.
  8. I have repaired some pretty bad ones lol. They make kits to fix it now so it is pretty easy. You just slide them on and weld away. That xterra looks decent. Make sure the timing belt was done on it at some point.
  9. My frame has been boxed in and it tows great. If anything it is probably stronger now than it was.
  10. You will like it but there is something about the pathfinders that the xterras just don't have. I have both
  11. It could be a break in a wire that interrupts the circuit when the truck hits a bump or is jarred somehow. Did you replace the pump only or the whole sending unit? They are known to corrode at the connections on top. The sensor would be in the distributor. These trucks don't have a CPS/CKS like newer ones do.
  12. What about the fuel pump relay? Check that there isn't a break in the wiring?
  13. PM Nefarious on this board. He is on the Island and just did the same swap.
  14. Nissan still sells them AFAIK. Also steal a bunch from JY trucks for spares. Hardbodies and similar year Nissan cars should have them.
  15. Ahh, could always unbolt the torque converter from the flywheel through the starter hole, that's what I did on my auto.
  16. And yes if you sprayed something and it made a difference you have a leak. You should always use new gaskets. Not worth the headache for the cost!
  17. What did you clean the throttle body with? They have a special coating and anything but the right stuff will mess it up.
  18. If you can't get it to clear by finagling around the diff, you will either have to pull the diff, or loosen the trans mounts and slide it back a bit. I recently did one on a 95 5 speed. What a bitch that was.
  19. Installed a new mast in my power antenna, screwed up the threads and cannot get the chrome nut to start now. Anyone have a power antenna laying around? Mast doesn't have to be good, as long as the motor runs...
  20. The only time you hear the supercharger is if you are well into the throttle. Normal, reasonable driving you would never notice.
  21. What about the ground on the battery cable that is bolted to the body? Mine was loose/rusty. Cleaned it up and it fixed a few problems. One being my temp gauge would move with any electrical load.
  22. After having both, the X has some pluses, but there are quite a few things it lacks that my wd21 has. Here is a brief list. Missing from X that my Wd has: -heated seats -heated mirrors (in Canada or winter states this is a plus) -rear seats don't seem to recline or have headrests. -rear seats don't have arm rests -coil sprung suspension (every X I looked at had broken leaf packs) -tire carrier -rear glass that opens Also you have to remove the seat bottoms when folding the seats which kind of sucks but if I'm camping it gives me more room. But if you need to use them in a pinch while the bottoms are at home this presents a problem. The truck feels marginally faster. More torque for sure. I have the supercharged version with a fresh motor. It is also way harder on fuel than my wd21. For no reason. Runs great, no codes. Pluses for the X: -No frame rot -No floor panel rot -No flares to rot out fenders -Good headlights/fog lights -Cool looking roof rack -More parts available as they're newer They are very similar front end wise. Going from a pathy I found myself at home. Only difference is no stupid tension rods. Also the ball joints are press in not bolt in, bottom ones have a large but which is a pita.
  23. I thought you had a 1995. The gold one in your pics? That isn't a 98.
  24. Cleaning up the grounds and connections does worlds of good for an older car. Fix like 10 issues on mine that way in one shot.
