  2. Easy there Walter White, not that kind of fix. Your off-roading fix! Lets face it, we don't get enough time on the trail as we would like. Between work, home, garden, kids, people wanting me to work on their junk and who know what else, I don't get to go out as often as I would like. So I started to find ways to get my "fix". Here are a few examples... 1. Petersons 4Wheel and Off-Road magazine. I've had this subscription for quite some time, but I was thinking of letting it go not to long ago. But about a year ago, a new editor was named, Fred Williams. I got to say, the mag has been a lot more fun to read and its not all Jeep stuff. Not that I had anything against the old editor, Rick Pewe, but he seemed like a dedicated Jeep guy. Fred seems to be taking the mag in a broader direction with other makes and models, as well as dipping into the "Overlanding" stuff. This has also brought me to watch his Dirt Every Day series on youtube. Its been very fun to watch! 2. The 4x4podcat and the NissanNationPodcast. I found the 4x4podcast after listening to some other podcasts with my wife (NPR stuff, TED talks). Which were fine on their own, but I wanted something I was a little more interested in. Searched and found the 4x4podcast. They currently have 95 episodes to listen to. I started at the beginning and have just finished #95 a week or so ago. Not a bad program. I was worried it was going to be all about jeeps, but not so much. More of a wheeling/adventure series. I recommend checking it out. The 4x4podcast broght me to the NissanNationPodcast. They had some interviews with some Xterra guys who started their own podcast, but all about Nissan stuff! They are new and only have 5 episodes right now, but fun to listen to. Both podcasts make me feel like I'm just sitting around with the guys chatting. If there is something I don't care about or whatever, I just skip it and move on to the next. Again, I recommend checking them out. I usually download a episode or two and listen when I'm working in the garage or out on the mower. There are also some random Youtube videos and stuff, but nothing else that has given me that "fix" and that drive to find a job where they pay me to wheel! I know, I know. I guy can dream can't he? Well, now that you heard me ramble on, How do you get your fix? http://www.the4x4podcast.com http://www.nissannationpodcast.com/Nissan_Nation_Podcast/Show.html http://www.fourwheeler.com/4wheel-off-road-magazine/
  3. Sway-a-ways are replacement torsion bars and they will help with the weight of the bumper. 30% stiffer over stock. Does your rig have any other kind of lift(suspesion, body)?
  4. In the meantime, use the tow strap for towing and get a snatch strap for recoveries.
  5. It's the shield for the MAF wiring. There was a TSB to add a ground wire and even a new connector to lower the ground circuit voltage for the air flow meter.
  6. What year is your rig? Sounds like the Steering angle sensor needs to be reset. This will happen when the battery is disconnected or goes dead. It doesnt need to be reset by the dealer. Just drving it for a while and it will reset itself(a few days or more). So its stuck at the dealer and wont move?
  7. So are beadlocks in the future as well?
  8. I know this about the Bias ply- if your rig sits for any amount of time, you will get flat spots(as you stated) and they will not be fun to drive with. They will most certianly destroy your front end(unless you've updgraded) and the ride will suck on the way to the trail(unless it's going to be a trailer queen). I'd go with the TSL radials personally. But, why such a aggressive tire?
  9. That'd be cool! Don't have a grey fender an d chrome front bumper laying around too do Ya?
  10. Installed some Anzo headlights. Ballparked the aiming until I get to work tomorrow. Installed a upgraded headlight harness too.
  11. Yes, its fine. Probably the last time you will need to fill it, unless the trans has some issue in the future! Just be sure its GL-4. 75-90 synthetic is pretty much your only choice, and many here have done that to save thier transmission. I tried Royal Purples 80-90 and it didnt help, the damage was already done. Got a new trans(from a member here) and filled it with Redline 75-90 and I havent had a issue since. The difference between GL-4 and GL-5 is how it reacts to metal. The type of metal Nissan used to make the gears/bearings/ect, is softer. In laborers terms, the GL-5 attacks the metal and weakens it. GL-4 doesnt do that(synthetic or not). Im sure you google both and learn more than you ever wanted to know!
  12. You didnt need to use the paper gasket and silicone. They are siliconed in from the factory. Either way, you need make sure the mating surfaces are clean from any silicone or gasket material before reinstalling the t-stat. You dont need to "goop" it on there either. A small bead of silicone all the way around will be fine. If you have no leaks or heating/cooling issues, you will probably be just fine.
  13. Do not put GL-5 in there. Thats one of the other reasons for manual transmission failure. Redline GL-4 is a popular option and works very well IMHO. I put it in my transmission after I had to put a new one in due to the previous owner having GL-5 installed. Strangely enough, I bought the Redline fluid from a Napa!
  14. In a 98, its built into the distributor. The above explination is for a crank position sensor, but is a general definition as the sensors can be placed in different locations(front or back of the crank). In the Garage section, there is a link so you can download a factory service manual.
  15. Its on the back of the head. Last time I changed one, I had to lay over the top of the engine and was able to get my hands back there to remove the 10mm bolt that holds it in. The biggest pain is the locking connector. A small flat screwdriver will help push the green lock part in. You can also wait to disconnect it after you unbolt it and slide it out of the head.
  16. My new Anzo headlights and upgraded wiring harness showed up today! Hope my new RF corner lamp shows up soon so I can put it all in this weekend.
  17. For this gen pathfinder, yeah, it's a little slow. It is a off road forum and most people may stay away because of that.
  18. I'm very jealous! I scour CL all the time for a bumper! Very nice find!
  19. Jims pathfinder was stolen up that way, it would be interesting to see if that bumper is off of it.
  20. Looks like a aftermarket light switch, maybe for fog lights or something. It's not factory.
  21. Ordered new headlights, upgraded harness and new right front corner lens. I can't wait to see better at night!
  22. Looks like the factory plug to the tralier brake connector.
  23. Not too far from where Jims truck was stolen iirc. Hmm, something going on up there?
  24. Were you testing the 4wd on pavement? This can cause binding in the system, creating the noises. The 80-90 you got looks fine and should do the job(same stuff we used at the Nissan dealer I used to work at). It should say on the bottle wether or no you need a lsd additive. I would go ahead and change the transfer case fluid and go from there.
