  1. yea...I guess that's a better explanation...i assumed that and probed with a multimeter and figured it out and i had decided if the ground wasn't good i'd just make a little ground strap but it wasnt needed
  2. yea I did the 3" PA kit through SteevO on www.ruggedrocksoffroad.com...theres a writeup pinned that has pointers and tips somewhere around here...and i think i did a little side thread...no radiator relocation kit and in the writeup somewhere i show how much trimming i did on the lower hose...I want to do an efan mod but that will be a while
  3. yep...the only thing is you may have to rig up the signal for the solenoid if its different...I had a 95 in my 87 but the 95 was a 2 prong instead of 2 prong so I just did some R&D with the battery and starter out of the truck to see which was the right post for the + signal and then just clipped my harness and crimped on a spade connector that fit the pin
  4. did you try beating on the TC with a dead blow or using a pry bar to get it loose?...never separated these so I can't offer much useful assistance
  5. this is the driver side and it is the worse side: the other side is just small little dents...i can try to get a pic of that today
  6. i've got some with rock rash that are solid but shipping would probably suck a little (prob like $40 or so) ...starting to debate the chopping of the 95 and whether I want to start that here in the next couple of weekends
  7. i doubt it seriously...but who knows what they really stock...you may be able to find a JY that is open tomorrow...
  8. remove the snapped bolt and get a new one....where are you located...
  9. I never thought I would cannibalize a pathy and do what i've done to mine and it all started with a broken TB and the gf at the times dad saying lets do it and convincing me he'd done it like 50 times...he did it once before on a metro or some @!*% in kwajalene...he told me this after the test drive and was like if i told you that I had only done this once before you would have told me to screw off and wasted your money at some shop...he's was a pilot/mechanic in the army so it was nothing... Hope it all goes back together and works fine...just don't get in a hurry and double check everything before you start it up (i do this sometimes and it can be bad) my last one was starting it up with no oil but realized it before it was too late
  10. Alright its been a while...the plastic primer works great...but the regular paint doesnt seem to stay all that great...I'm going to just spray them black for now and have to touch it up as I go since I keep forgetting to buy the fusion in gray anytime i'm in Lancaster/palmdale since nowhere else within a 30 min drive has it in gray or black...but yea the primer did amazing
  11. antifreeze on TB= bad i guess the gly-whatever in anitifreeze is bad for rubber belts and weakens them so i'd def change that and yes I would think that could be a possibility if the belt was not tightened properly it sucks but if there is a chance the WP leaked on the new belt i'd change it...
  12. ah now reading it here he suggested running them through a die to clean up any burs i'm guessing...I never did that on any of my head jobs and I reused my head bolts as mentioned before. Folks don't like to reuse the bolts b/c the torque value is supposed to be to "strain" but I haven't checked the calcs to see if it actually puts the bolts into strain... as for the bits that fell in the cylinder...put the crank bolt back in and slowly turn the engine over...the rings will bring it to the top of the cylinder and you can wipe it out with a rag when I rebuilt my heads I got the suction cup tool for the valves and the compound from napa and lapped them in...the kit i got had a coarse grit and a fine grit...the drill method sounds a lot less work so if you do it that may be the way to go
  13. any VG 3.0 (or 3.3) block will work...you may have to then swap out the intake, water pump, move dipstick and mounting brkts...I had an 86 maxima engine built up for my 87...but the most direct swap will be an 86.5-95 VG and you will have to swap out the intakes... although I just did think that the 95 has a knock sensor so you may have to incorporate that into an older block...someone chime in on that...
  14. I think (dont quote me on this b/c I dont have the auto) that 86.5-95 will work but you have to know wheather it is a 4sp or 5sp (i may have this all mixed up) and would have to match up the computer (transmission control unit) and the only other thing is in the tailstock whether the new tranny would have the electrical speedo...another option you have is to do a manual transmission swap...i'm sure some of these auto tranny guys will chime in that have more knowledge than I do
  15. if you can find the MT...the work really isnt that much...I've got pretty much everything you need to do the swap if you find a transmission and we could work something out on that...just figured i'd throw it out there...i'm completely biased to MT's anyways and hate that they had no MT camry's here in CA when i got mine
  16. haha nice...thats what I wanted to do when I did my BL but couldnt find the rods...I was actually going to cut it down to about a 4" nub from the T so there wasnt so much wobble in the shaft
  17. when you pull the head if the vlave is closed you can dump it out and wipe it with a rag...if the valve is open it will leak everywhere when you break the head loose...other than that I don't think i'd really worry about getting the residue out it'll burn off when it runs next...do be sure to clean the head/block good...I like to use a fine scotch brite on the drill attachment to get all of the gasket residue off after scraping carefully with a straight edged razor other than that tear the head down and take everything to a machine shop and have them run it through the parts cleaner
  18. tube door supply you with protection from obsticals you may rub against...I go no for plywood...lexan would be cool with tubed doors
  19. no i'd be amazed...these ole trucks can take a beating and keep on a tickin but I think a jeep would give up to the ghost a little before the ole pathy...
  20. I believe me, SC88, Enjoi, and MSavies met these guys at hollister b/c they came up to us talking about out passports and then were like oh dude we tried to kill a pathfinder and it still ran even after we "destroyed" it...I think they also jumped it into a lake to end its life...
