Hey guys, just thought I’d post this for those interested in keeping tabs on this situation. I was perusing Lokka’s website and noticed that they now list a rear Lokka for the R50 generation, see the screen grab below or check it out for yourself at lokka.com Notice: there’s no price listed, and if you click on “buy now” it’s a broken link. It used to be that Lokka would simply state they don’t make a rear application Lokka. This, to me, indicates a rear option is coming to market. Additionally, the exact same is true if you look for 00-01 frontiers and 00-02 Xterra’s (the only other Nissans that direct fit our 33 spline rear end). No price listed, and the “buy now” button is a broken link. If I’m understanding the prior research of differentials as laid out by @hawairish, this means we will soon have a multitude of options for drop in direct fitment rear mechanical lockers on 33 spline axle shafts. This is entirely new, and has not existed for R50’s at any point in the past. Even if you have an LSD, you just need an open diff from one of three different Nissans. This is all subjective to any more information or fitment requirements that Lokka supplies in the future, or anything that I may have mispoke about in this post of course. The other great deal is price- lokka’s are generally much cheaper than any of our other rear locker options, although with some performance setbacks. But if there’s any of you who are a few beers and a Friday night away from welding your rear diff, I figured you might want to know about this I suspect this is in part a response to the insane demand that we have put on lokka for their front units. By March, they had mentioned to me in an email that they had already gone through a supply that would usually last them two years. They have been behind all year and continue to have slow lead times even now (likely due to demand). Good job us! feel free to correct this information or add to it

My money's on a busted motor mount, driver's side I think. Put a floor jack under the oil pan (block of wood between) and lift it up a small amount, maybe 1/2" or so. Check for separation of the rubber from underneath the truck.

TowndawgR50 showed me this last night. I'm curious to know what it really means, since I also saw the other Nissan vehicle applications. I'm going to remain skeptical, but optimistic, that it comes around. Just seems way too late though, but I'd say if any company is positioned to manufacture and sell them, it'll be them. Lokka's reputation has seemed to deteriorate over the years, though. My last order, when I was researching the 31-spline swap, went poorly...they never shipped after a month despite being in stock, and it still took several weeks to get a refund. At the time, they had all sorts of bullshart excuses for me, including that one of their warehouses burned down. Their FB page, completely outdated, is still loaded with customer complaints about orders. I'd just be cautious about the company they've seemingly become, which is surprising because of how well my first order with them a few years prior went. If it does come out, hopefully it'll also actually be for the 33-spline diffs, unlike the others with incorrect application listings.

Been contemplating welding an open diff lately, but I still daily drive it too much lol. Not sure how much better this style of auto locker would be, my front's pretty clunky and doesn't always unlock when coasting. That being said I'm still pretty excited and will likely order one as soon as its available ?

Yep, you guys hit the nail on the head with that noise. It is all over the internet when I look it up, concerning Nissans and their self test on the ABS brakes. And it does state that if brakes are applied during this self test the noise will be increased and felt through pedal. Funny ive never noticed this in past years, but maybe I wasn't paying attention to it. Next time anyone drives their Pathfinder see if you notice it, id be interested to know if its as pronounced. Seeing mine is a 97 and you guys have 2003s, maybe it might be different. If you can, try and listen for the noise when first driving off after startup. Looks to be normal. Thanks!

I mean, it could be something seizing still, but maybe its something with the brake boost. maybe something in the booster isn't right? I cant really think of anything other than a caliper seizing up. I'm no professional so maybe someone can chime in on how to check the booster and master cylinder parts, but knowing how they work and that it uses intake vacuum, that's what I think of off the bat.

I would check the U joints in your rear driveshaft first.

Little trip recap: went camping with @micahfelker and a pretty nice taco. About a 180 mile round trip, with some extra miles put on in order to link up with Micah. Had to use my 3 gallon spare fuel to make it (211 miles total). Super cool canyon with a hot springs nestled along the river. Day and a half of just hanging out in the area and a total of two nights camping. The only tricky part was the road out of the canyon- going up it in the snow, I was happy to have the lokka + LSD combo. A little left foot brake kept all 4 tires in traction and made for a safe ascent. heres the video for those interested:

@TheGhost With a cursory visual inspection, you can easily determine if you have bad bushings. I would have a look at everything though, not just your rear end. At one point, I had, what turned out to be, a complete idiot do a front end alignment on my pathy. One of the upper control arm bolts was cross threaded and not tight against the frame. What happened later, because it wasn't tight against the frame, the shims fell out and I had an upper control arm that was flopping around causing all kinds of mayhem while driving. I recommend a good look over everything!!

I went to a new junkyard the day before yesterday called Encore in Jefferson GA ( @03TroutFinder ), and it has pathfinders that are not raped to the bone. I found an OEM dizzy that looks pristine, it even had the original cap/rotor (I'm saving it for when I eventually need it). I also, after at least 10 trips to other junkyards, found a rear wing. Finally I grabbed a passenger side marker to replace the one that broke when that guy crashed into me and peace offered me a mcfish sandwich at 8am in the morning... So after acquiring the above mentioned parts I went to work and performed the following: new spark plugs new spark wires new dizzy cap new dizzy rotor fixed coolant leak under throttle body installed new to me passenger side marker installed new to me rear wing Happy New Year!!! _,,..--;;:::2021:::;;--..,,_

Oddly enough I had issues with my cragar wheels and shaking for years. Could never really resolve it until I put them on my Xterra and that proved the truck was not the issue. I recently bought new tires from a friend that started a tire shop. He told me to come back in a week, and when I did his new lug centric balancing adapter had arrived. We balanced the tires with that and holy crap I've never had such a smooth ride. Turns out you cannot balance the soft 8 wheels through the center hole, not sure why any other shop never picked up on this, but that 100% fixed the problem. I'm glad he picked up on it. I've only owned them for 10 years....
