You didn't answer my other question

What about 4.8? or do you not want Diesels included?

Were there more than one gear ratio available? The issues with including diesels is that I was really trying to find some correlation with the VG drive train, not to mention I didn't have enough answer slots available to even include all the LEs, much less a different motor. By your logic, should the Z24i be included? DON'T ANSWER THAT!!!P...

Well, it looks like we are getting somewhere (sort of). Isn't 32 data points the magic statistical number? Interesting that 1/3 are SE-Auto-LSD-4.6!!

Ok members (all 5000+) lets have a few more votes than 23!! :D

allong that train of thought I've often wondered if the 6sp 4x4 tranny+t-case would bolt up to the VG block. I would'nt care If the mounting ponits & shatfts are diferant because that can be modified easier than making a bell housing adapter.

What 6 speed? If it was behind a VG class motor, it ought to swap in just fine.

I think he's talking about the 6 speed in the Nismo Frontier

yes, Im thinking of the 6spd that came in some of the the vq frontiers and x's motors and wondering if it would bolt to a vg motor.

There were small differences in the differential gearings, however the range offerings were the same.

WD21 - 4.325 and 4.625

R50 - 4.363 and 4.636.

The transmission bell housings were identical, as were the TX10 transfer cases. However, the gearing for the R50 transmission was a little higher than the WD21 tranny.

If you throw the WD22 (Xterra) in the mix, as the successor to the WD21 Pathfinder, then you get a whole other range of drivetrain possibilities. R50 Transmission Gearing with a VG33E, a different range of tranny gears with the VG33ER (Supercharged), 4.363s, 4.636s, and 4.90s.

:D Just asking the question

Well, while I had hoped for more than 25 votes  as that is not a statistically valid quantity, there are several trends to be noted.

1) 1/3 of all WD21s are SE-automatic tranny-LSD rear differential-4.6 gears

2) 3/4 of all the rear differentials are LSD so open carriers for lockers could become scarce.

3) Only 1/3 of the WD21s came with 4.3 gears so 2/3 are happier running slightly larger tires (31x10.5 seem to be a perfect match)

The ratio of XE to SE to LE is 6/16/2.

Any one see any trends I am missing?

Add in my '94 SE 5sp manual open 4.3 (original), with Lockright these days.

Those are interesting #'s B, but I'm not sure about the sample numbers. LSD's have seemed a lot more scarce in my searches. Maybe not as much with older trucks while off road. But all in all, yes, there's a ton of a mix between the trim levels. I'll try to take note again on the way to the junk yard tomorrow. ;)

I'm giving this a bump so maybe some of the newer members will chime in, we need a little more input from people before true statistical values can be established.

Take a minute please, we thank you for it.
