Laxman's 2001 R50 LSD Modification and Install
FUELER replied to vengeful's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
very nice mod. i'd much rather prefer a strong LSD over an air locker - less hassle and no stopping to engage the compressor/locker ill have to use this guide someday -
ya i was calculating the prices u posted... out of the $1200, its about half parts and half labor (if youre considering the mechanics prices on parts) im sure they marked up the shocks and struts so that the labor looks like under $600 on the invoice regardless - its still a normal price, you didnt get ripped off but you also didnt get a spectacular deal. Could have been worse!

FUELER replied to FUELER's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
thanks for the advice fellas.... its all put back together now.... although i finished so late that i didnt even feel like driving around, so i spent the nite here at my parents place. I did drive around the block and WHOA it leans side to side! noticeably more sway than tha factory suspension. normal? -

FUELER replied to FUELER's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
lol i wish u would have mentioned that when you advised removal of bumpstops overall i think it would have been easier to disconnect the shocks and panhard rod, and to have skipped the bumpstops and spring compressors. -
HELP! how important is it to have the rear bumpstops?
FUELER replied to FUELER's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
thanks fellas. im going to do flame and vice grips as soon as i can.... but another question, the OEM nissan springs have little rubber sleeves on both the bottom and top of the spring. They dont really fit on the OME coils (the coils are much thicker) how important are these sleeves???? -

Umm....What is this supposed to be connect to?
FUELER replied to EmptyV's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
yeah thats for the alarm. thieves pop the hood and go for the battery to kill the alarm, what that pin does is set off the alarm if they pop the hood. It's a nice feature to come from the factory, every other car ive owned i had to install an aftermarket one (and they always look cheaper than this nissan one). -

FUELER replied to EmptyV's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
could it be to the hood pin switch, (the rubber thing on the right) ???? -
if you have a decent aftermerket headunit, with its own subwoofer control, then you can control it from there.

PLUS - rocky road has mislabeled all their OME springs!!! Their mediums are actually light duty, and their heavy duty are actually medium! Their 0.5" spacers are really only 0.25" How they are still in business, i dont know. You dont want anything to do with them! Look: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=11484 Yes contact steevo with www.ruggedrocksoffroad.com i ordered OME springs through him and they shipped the very next business day

my 3.3L is too weak to do that on the dunes, hahha. Im talking about dirt road like you see in the Baja 1000 and i agree there are pros and cons to both kits

R50 - question about adjusting rear LSV after lift?
FUELER replied to FUELER's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
ya i just dont know which direction tightens it... i guess i could jack it up and see how it changes but this is way easier But the zip tie idea sounds good, no? -
R50 - question about adjusting rear LSV after lift?
FUELER replied to FUELER's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
sounds like a good idea.... i might just have to do this t morgan.... how did you adjsut yours? -
And thats a very good reason. This shows that you understand that a good suspension needs both downtravel and uptravel. This is why i dont like the idea of the AC lift - just sitting on the ground its already close to maximum extension. Now drive 120 mph down a desert road and watch what happens. OME is made in australia where they understand this concept.
-
so when you lift it you end up with over six inches of up-travel and less than 2 inches of down travel.... that sucks!!!
-
damn thats a nice lookin truck! And damn that lift is TALL! is that AC coils by itself or do you have something additional for that lift

R50 - question about adjusting rear LSV after lift?
FUELER posted a topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
First of all, my main question is, is there any easy way to adjust the LSV by eye? The directions in the FSM are just ridiculous Second, how many of you adjusted the LSV after lift? THX in advance -
I just installed OME HD coils last weekend and they ride pretty smooth, havent topped them out once yet ???? and im riding with no bumper, no winch. I did research when buying my coils and the general consensus is that the AC springs are much stiffer? they are much taller too. (which is why i bought the OME's)
