Get a 94-95. Newer dash and timing belt intervals of 105k instead of 60k Forget the duals (waste of $) and get headers with 2.25-2.5" single pipe. B

I've seen some designs that are so low profile, you'd lose your windshield and a mirror before the snorkel... B

I'm not a welder but did a lot of research. Go with MIG. If you must stick with a 110V unit (it should do fine) try to get one that is 130-140 amps which is about the highest you can go. Also, see if you can find one with more than a 10% duty cycle @ full power. Variable amp settings is useful also. As for information, I bought the second book down on sale. Backing up disengages 4x4, rolling forward engages it. It sounds like your auto locking hubs are crapped up. Unbolt them and look for anything broken, clean all parts and moderately grease them. Reassemble and retest. It's a really simple job, you don't even have to remove the wheel. I highly recommend you get a service manual, any is better than none, and download the FSM available via link here. B

For all practical purposes, restoring an old car is stupid. It's a waste of time and $, except if that's what you choose to do as a 'hobby', ie enjoy it. As Ramon said, the 2 doors are becoming more scarce (although I see plenty here in NorCal) and if you have attachment to it, there is no reason not to fix it up. You have a donor and as far as I am concerned, are doing it right; you are swapping all the better parts from an advanced model into the frame and chassis that you want to keep. You'll wind up with a hybrid 2 door with the best of both worlds. Anyone who thinks that is stupid A) Probably couldn't turn a wrench well enough to do the same and Should just go and make $300 car and $150 insurance payments for the next 5 years... Ramon, he is about 250 miles north of you. I'm sure you could work things out and even if you had to drive to his house, that could be done in 1 day. B

Have you even checked to see if the tranny fluid is low or what condition it is in if you can't find the dipstick? Do you have an external tranny cooler or is it just routed through the bottom radiator cooler? Odds are this is clogged and should be bypassed immediately. B

/\ What he said. Do you mean behind the wheel, like 3" in diameter, tapered and 5" long with a shaft going through it to the front differential? If so, these are your CV boots and sound like they are shot. They need to be replaced or your CV's will get chewed up from grit getting in. It won't affect anything if you do not use 4x4. B

White is water/antifreeze, blue is oil, black is gas rich. Get the oil down to a correct level and see what it does... B

Could be the throw out bearing or pressure plate. Bleed the clutch system (2 places) and drive it till actually causes problems... B
