The 95XE I purchased last year had the tranny rebuilt at about 80k miles (by the PO) and a tranny cooler installed. It just hit 98k miles last week and seems to run fine, but it is the first auto I've owned for almost 20 years. I'll do a tranny flush this summer and see how long it lasts. B

Install a live well... B

According to this, they could either be the same or 4.8?? Very close, unless you have the 4.3 set. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=20182&hl= Hope it helps. NZ, get your butt over here!! B

Sorry Slick, but wrong... The chromies are 15x6 and the legos are 15x7. I have both 235/75/15 and 10.5x31x15 on chromies. The 10.5x31 do not fit well (too pinched, rounding the tread), and I believe shops can actually refuse to mount them as they are out side of 'recommended' widths. 15x7 rims would be ok; I am getting 15x8 rims to mount my new set of 10.5x31s. To sum it up, get another rim for your full sized spare, the stock emergency one is inadequate. B

Nice!! I just found some old stickers and put one on the truck. It says .com but will do for now... B
-
Cool, thanks!! I didn't see any link or recognize the truck, but I know some of the comment authors... B

LOL, who's truck?? Can you find them again? Not a problem, just curious... B

Seriously!! If the AC consenser and radiator weren't leaking, I'd patch that up for $100-200 and call it good!! B -
What’s the longest drive you have ever had in your Pathfinder ?

500 miles on a weekend trip. But that was with a mangled front end so maybe it was more like 5,000 miles... B -
This has been done before (sort of) and the response was minimal at best. I'm not opposed at all and would hand them out (I saw a really nice pathy 2 days ago), but I remember the last time. Stickers are a good way to advertise; those interested will note your truck and the site... That said, I just found my stash of stickers. 1 white and 2 black left. I put one white sticker on the rear window today and was considering putting the two black ones on the side of the truck just behind the rear doors? Above the rear wheel bulge?? With the champagne paint job in good shape, it would stand out quite nicely. But then, I may just wash them off in a year... B

Bought a Pathy (instead of a 4 runner; too pricey, worried about the head gasket problem and had owned a D720 that ran flawlessly for 10 years) and needed to replace the clutch immediately. First time with a 4x4 so I googled for info, found NPORA, and never left. Well, never permanently... B

I'd guess caliper issues, ball joint/tie rod end, bushings or perhaps even torsion bar (dislocated one once). You had better jack it up, crawl under and start inspecting... B
-
Sounds like it wasn't the ignition then. Cables/connections to the battery? Fusable link? What does it do if you try to start it? Does the rotor rotate when you try? If not, that's the timing belt Slick mentioned. B

Scale/deposits on the inside of the cooling system, old coolant or even your fan clutch if it does it when you are stopped. The AC condenser (heat exchanger) sits in front of the radiator. If your cooling system is already borderline capable, the added heat from the condenser could let the temperature climb. Without better information, I start checking the entire cooling system. B

Hey, at least you found the problem reasonably soon. You probably don't want to be driving around with a motor that isn't within 'normal' temp range... That's the fun of modding. You improve one thing and then wait to find out if it screwed anything else up. While we have a lot of 'how to' threads, there are also many 'how NOT to " threads also... B

I have the bacon salt. It's pretty good judiciously applied but contains MSG (crappy cheating ingredient...). B
-
Interesting. I have no idea... B
-
You should be able to drive the truck as long as you keep rolling 25+ mph. The temp will only rise at stoplights and such and usually come back down when you are moving again. B
-
Yeah, a picture would have been cool. Still, you were just rolling a vehicle, it wasn't like it was a recovery or anything... There is an old thread by Mr Jim where he towed a semi off of the freeway in his WD21. B

Doesn't sound like it... So you are fabing new shifters, not getting HB ones... You are fabing up a radiator relocation mount... Yeah, pulling the coils is the easy way... Like I said, there is more involved with a 3" lift VS 2". Should I link what you said about the filler tube extensions?? B
-
My pleasure... Yeah, when I did my clutch (pre NPORA in my timeline) there were a few tools that could have been the one I needed but I couldn't be sure so I got them all at $3 each or something. No brainer and it made the job smooth. Hope it helps you and others... B
-
No it isn't that bad, but I dare say you are more handy at this than most others (myself included, I'm just a DFM). What was it you did for a living again?? I'm glad yours went smoother than mine... B

There is not a huge amount of difference with the WD21, but there is enough. From that I can tell is... 1) You don't have to extend the fuel filler and vent hose. (I will loosen and slide them down a bit for good luck.) 2) The floor doesn't have to be notched or a hardbody 4x4 shifter to be found and installed. 3) You don't have to relocate the radiator. (I know you can leave them be, but with my 2" lift and removing the bottom shroud, the fan blades are about 1/2 lower than the radiator shroud. A 3" lift would make the cooling much more inefficient. For those with a E-fan mod, this obviously would have no bearing.) 4) I don't believe you can use the stock radiator hoses easily. (correct me...) I used the stock hoses, just twisting the top one and cutting 2" from the block side of the bottom one. Next time I will take 1" from either end. 5) Brake lines (not to mention a few others) don't have to be extended as far. I'm sure I'll remember other things... I'm not crapping on the 3" body lift. If max lift and/or biggest tire is your goal then that is what you want to do. It is only 1 more inch after all, just 1" more work... Like I have said, the 2" is what I wanted and all that I need (mainly for clearance, mechanical and rocks) as I will have 31" tires. With the suspension lift and a few other goodies it will be as off road as I want my DD to be. B
