  1. Perhaps the nut behind the steering wheel is loose or faulty? B
  2. Assuming it is level right now, the best way is to count turns. If it is not level or you have to index the splines, then GG's way is fine... B
  3. I got 4 Pro Comp ES3000 shocks for $99 and they threw in a steering stabilizer. Slick bought some new jeep cherokee lift springs for something like $85 IIRC. Some people claim the AC UCAs do not correct the upper ball joint angle after the lift (the whole point) Read this to know more than you ever wanted to about springs. http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...;hl=lift+spring Now here is the real info. PM Slick with questions or search for pictures. Save $ where you can!! My work here is done... B
  4. I'm quite sure there are Ca legal high flow cats available. Yes, just swapping back to the old one for smog tests would work, but is quite irresponsible. B Here is a link to a list of Ca legal replacement cats as of 1/09 http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermktcat/exemptcat09.pdf
  5. Unfortunately, this happens when the bushing has worn into garbage. The plate trick would probably work. Are the bushing cups still attached? People have welded on bearing races if not. Perhaps I can find some picts that you can reference/pass along. B
  6. You can do it yourself for 250-$300. Most shop would charge you, oh, 1000-$1200+ As for the shake, I'd guess loose front end components and/or bad alignment. I'm guessing certain road grades or crown makes things start to shake. B
  7. Well, it seems my order wouldn't have made the difference... I start 20 hr work weeks next week, so I can't promise anything in April. This sucks. B
  8. That sounds like the most cost effective and effective outline. It's pretty close to what the majority of the people here do... B
  9. I'll fab you up a low profile grey delrin leveling base in trade for the clinometer... B
  10. Yep, I'm with you 100%. The GF's car(s) are kept at best possible condition, period! Not only does she drive 4x as far as I do daily, I don't need the 'it died and I'm stuck" phone call. The pathy I'll be more liberal with since I have tools and a clue, but even then I'll take the time to make sure it is as reliable as is reasonable. It's the emergency earthquake, flood, riot, zombie/republican attack vehicle... LOL @ do you want another useless one... B
  11. Because he didn't use 1/2 throttle and either never noticed you or just shook his head... This just in!! Breaking news!! Pathys are slow and underpowered Not so bad if you mod them, but even still. Use them for their strengths, not their weaknesses. Make friends and have fun, don't look like a tool. If i want to go fast, I have a superbike that does the 1/4 in 10.2. If I want to go everywhere the superbike cant, be comfortable and carry gear, I drive the pathy... B
  12. How many Nissan SUV/Crossovers are there? Where did the r50 rank?? B
  13. This from the guy with the tranny that was acting up? Do what you want, but... B
  14. Yep, sounds like it needed it. Just make sure to check everything out very well before hitting the road!! B
  15. Generally speaking, 1 is normal, so 2 might do it. Hard to tell How far are the adjusters backed off right now? Just remember, you don't want the adjustment arms lower than the bottom of the crossmember in case they get snagged on something. Do yourself a favor and take the time to lube everything nicely, including the adjustment bolt; they have been known to gall. B
  16. X3 on all the tune up stuff. Sad to say, you bought the wrong vehicle for burn outs. Fun, reliability, good off road capability yes. Burn outs, no... But then with good tires going for $150 each, why the he!! do you want to do burn outs? B
  17. Airing down the tires and new shocks would probably make a big difference. B
  18. ^ like he said. Bolts in and that's about it. Thanks for the clarification. You may still want to look for donor trucks, it would be the most cost effective in the long run. Look for blown motor donors, some people let their timing belt service slip, literally... I don't know what you prefer, but swapping in a manual tranny from a donor truck (all parts from petal assembly, console, MC, etc) is not much more difficult. Perhaps that is a viable option for you? Good luck and we'll help if we can... B
  19. Oh Crap!! That doesn't sound good at all... Sorry Bud, and good luck. B
  20. Yeah, you can paint you 'kills' on the side... B
  21. For future reference, don't forget to check the classifieds here; there are several people parting out trucks... B
  22. The 3 speed only came on the first year model and I believe it bolts up fine. Your tranny controler probably wouldn't be the same though and I think there is some other difference IIRC. There was a thread about this recently... Also, 'rebuilds' vary greatly and often do not last with these trannys. If you have the means to get the other truck and store it, it would be a good way to go. Swap in the tranny, grab what ever parts you want (injectors, coil, starter, alt, etc...), mix and match the best parts of each, sell the motor, part out what else you can and you are in good shape. IIFC. A JDM engine with all that bolts on the block goes for $500-$750. You should be able to sell that one for $300-$500 depending. Honestly, you could probably part out the entire truck for more than the $750 asking price... B
  23. Buy a rebuild kit? mws listed a good source, let me try to find it. That's hit and miss... I am generally pretty cautious about the brake system though. I'd have to look at the truck for Q#2. B Here you go... http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...master+cylinder
