I generally go by two factors. How much can I freewheel it cold (about 1/2 spin, the less the better generally) and does the engine temp rise when slow or stopped. Both generally indicate poor fan performance. That one doesn't seem to work at all... B

Yes, there are several color coded injectors and I believe silver is one of them but I'm not sure about grey (seems too close). Could it be a dirty silver? Can you post a picture? B

We had a database problem that deleted a few recent posts, and it still occasionally does odd things. It's not you... Sorry, no stock exhaust to look at but I recall them being bolt on? Have you looked in the FSM? There should eb a description at least, if not a diagram. B

Well, I just went out and looked at the ones I have pulled off of our 1999.0 and they are identical, just mirror images of each other and both held on with 3 bolts. Functionally, I can't see any reason you can't use either, but maybe something to do with attachment point and line of sight? I seem to remember something like this with the WD21s also (it only came with one front tow hook) and many people source a second to put on the other side for the versatility. As they are, they should work for mild recovery effort, but they aren't very stout. A simple fix would be to have a second plate welded in that has the same loop in it that is just as wide as the bends on the sides and that would hold up to a lot. B

Yes, bleed the damper and then the slave cylinder. As he said, some people have removed them and others (me included) didn't have any issues or at least that bleeding didn't fix. Give it a shot and let us know. There is a recent thread detailing the fittings used to bypass the thing... B

My attitude is that I only bring the tools required for something that I reasonably could or would try to repair on the side of the road. A 3/8" socket set, wrenches, pliers, vice grips, allen wrenches screw drivers, hammer and some tape, sealant, and so on. Off road is different, but for every day stuff just take the basics and cheap stuff if you have it (vehicle tools tend to get stolen). B

Might stay a little cooler under the hood? It's at least +4hp though! Milling those off would be the way to do it, lol at 'smells like cancer'. I have a pedestal grinder/wire wheel combo and it is set up on the side of the house. I don't want the smell and grit n the garage... B

Quite!! It looks far more functional and I've never liked running boards on WD21s, they look too muck like something stuck on as an afterthought. Nerf bars are ok, but rock sliders are what I like to see! B Say, someone was asking about hood scoops a little while back. Is yours functional? Mind sharing how you set it up?

I think it is a clean, simple and economical solution. You are right, you didn't want to keep the stress on the intake hose, it wouldn't have lasted long long that way and vacuum leaks there are bad. As it sits right now, the intake hose should last a long time. The only drawback to tha set up is that you are much more likely to gulp some water when you first nose into a puddle or whatever. I know you aren't exactly drowning out there is AZ, but keep it in mind and stay out of the vados if you see thunder clouds in the distance! That is definitely not a cold air intake, it is simply a less restrictive intake. Regardless of hot air, almost everyone who has installed a cone filter under the hood has commented about increased noise and increased throttle response, especially at higher RPM. FYI, another quick, easy fix to the hose stress is simply to remove the stock air box support bracket closest to the MAF, the air box will sag down on that side and lessen the strain significantly while still being well secured. B

Thanks for clearing that up James! It turns out my charger is 6 amp @ 6 or 12 volts only, so no trickle charging there. B

Hopefully that isn't an issue, as I've used an old trickle charger many times. So far it doesn't seem to matter, but maybe it reduces the number of useful drain/charge cycles? Damn you Electrons!! B
