  1. There is no additional work or parts needed when doing the spacer lift... Like any kind of lift, the bigger the lift the more things gets to be disturbed from their original position... I'm thinking at cv angles, driveshaft angles, control arm bushings, trailing arm bushings, etc... They were riding at a specific height/angle for all their 'life'..then adding a lift will change that. When you lift a vehicle, you can have issues with those things if they were almost at their end of life... So if you have an old cv that has a dried up and cracked boot, you can expect the boot to tear if you put any lift... Same thing goes for bushings or u-joints... So the smaller the lift , the lesser chances you will have problems... This is pretty much a universal 'lifted truck' statement.. S.
  2. CHeck out my website for the small lift your are looking for. I make HDPE suspension spacers...perfect for a small budget. http://4x4design.com/r50-lift-kit.php http://4x4design.com/Pathfinder_R50_96-04.php cheers.
  3. Hey Adam.... the final word is : you have too much time on your hands ! LOL AND THAT"S FINAL !
  4. Yes simply combine a 1" and a 1.5" that i already sell. I would not know though if this creates to much angle on the cv... Sorry we did not try this combination. Contact me by pm if you want to go this way, and i'll give you a price for this combination. S.
  5. mine is little bit like you want to do.... At the time (and still now) I did not wanted to make a hole in my fender... So I went another route... Basically, I routed a secondary pipe to the air filter box. On top of that I modified the existing pipe in order to put a threaded plug.. This mean when I thought I was going to go through deep water I would plug the original pipe (from inside the filter box, and have my secondary be operational.. This secondary goes from the filter box and is routed up to the windshield (all inside the engine bay)... For added safety, I wired a water detection device in the filter box at 2" from the mouth of the intake... This way when it start beeping and flashing led inside the cab, I know I have a decision to make.. (either I know i'm almost through and can continue or I shut down the engine live with damp interior (instead of an hydrolocked engine).. See the pictures here : http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/25150-my-new-selectable-air-intake-with-a-little-extra/?p=460747 I really like my setup and feel more confident when I have to go through water... 6. I'll add my 2 cents...even if I am manufacturing the spacers.... I have the AC coils on my truck with a 1"inch spacers all around for 1 reason.... When I lifted my truck in 2009, there was no one that I could have bought the spacers from... So I order the AC lift, but at a premium price (beeing in canada), these springs once I counted the delivery and customs and currency exchange got me almost 800$CAD poorer... Now I make HDPE spacers exactly for your kind of off-roader... You need to start somewhere, and the lift kit I sell is a perfect <no throat cutting prices> to start and put bigger tires. Of course, once you see you reach the limits and need to go further, then sub frame drops and SAS are there... The ac springs are nice, but they forced me to install some limiting straps in order to prevent toping out... I know my opinion might sound like I pushing for my own stuff, but i'm not.... I can even recall some posts a few years back when I was asking if by putting spacers we could not acheive the same thing as the ac springs.... Of course, at that time 4x4design was not born yet... S.
  7. Actually, start here : http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/22171-stickers-decals/
  8. It's really simple.... you just have top measure it... With spacers, the rear are 1:1.. for the front it's a little different... but considering you do not change coils, you can conservatively go with the following : 1" = 1" 1.5" = 2" 2" = 2.5" Now go from there... if you put 2" spacer in front, your front will raise 2.5"... use a tape and measure from ground to top of your fender well... then you can do the same to your rear fender well and extrapolate the number you need to raise the rear to the same level of the front.... Check my page here and click on the pictures to have them bigger... you will see what I mean, http://4x4design.com/r50-lift-kit.php S,
  9. Ok... Well these half shafts are made to move on this axis. The inner joint on the shaft is called a plungeant tripod joint. This movement is to accommodate the change in length of the shaft when the wheel moves up and down. Now to help diagnose your noise, you easily remove the half shaft and do a roadtest. If the noise is gone , you know for sure it is the shaft. Now you said you had put the snapring in the middle Of the shaft... I must admit i don,t know how this is possible.. I always thought there was only one groove on the shaft at the end to put the ring... I must not understand properly....
  10. Can you tell us what kind of movement you are doing in the video... (I can't really tell).. A) moving the shaft from wheel to engine (side to side) B )Moving the shaft from front to back of the truck C) Turning the shaft (like if the wheel was turning) forward to reverse D) Moving the shaft from up to down Once we know this, we might better be able to help.. S.
  11. In general, if the engine burns oil, it is a bad sign. clicking noise in the engine also is a sign... Of course the real way of knowing if some screws have fallen, is to check them by removing the intake. Be aware also, that this problem is only for automatic... For some unknown reasons, the manual version was not equipped with the variable length intake runners (where the power valves opens or closes the butterflies)... For me if I was to buy another R50, I would deal the seller to pay for the checkup (about 2-4 hours of labour), and if they are all there I would buy and pay the checkup, if not he pays and I do not take it ..... It's worth a try... S.
  12. Hey jon, your mixing the R51 tranny issues with the R50. The r50 has not coolant issues with the transmission.... it is the 2005 and up.... The VQ engine has the dreaded power valve screws issue that must be taking care of right of the bat...under than that, real nice and powerfull engines... S.
  13. is your snap ring at the end of the outer shaft installed ??
  14. Definitely spacers at the end...bumper and springs first.,.. as for the stock r50 tires with lift, check out the page here : http://4x4design.com/r50-lift-kit.php -- you might be interested with the tape measurement pictures. S.
  15. Just fill in the contact us page with your infos and order. Tks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. I don't advise upgrading coils to AC and having spacers... you will go over the limit of your half shaft maximum angle... it's one or the other.... or even ac coils + 1" spacer. S.
  17. Since you can make you own kit mixing the height that you need, you add the front and back. For a limited time get 10% off. S. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Congrats Steevo. You're an inspiration for all the other wannabees like me that one day hope to achieve half of what you have done. My hat to you sir. S.
  19. My spacers do not prevent this kind of thing....neither does the ac springs or any other way of lifting this truck. My lift gives the same height as the AC springs but at a very different cost. This kind of lift (height) has been tested by me and by many others.. 2.5" lift is not enough to make the half shaft fall by itself.. Actually I believe the snap ring on the half shaft is there exactly for that reason... I think binding in the joint would occur before the half shaft coming out... I have tested my wheels of the ground on many occasion with a lift higher than this ( I run AC springs plus 1" spacers) and I can assure you it is fine... If you are too concerned, you can opt for a lesser lift like 1.5 or even just 1". Regards. S.
  20. front spacers (2 - 1 inch threaded) rear spacers (between the coil seat and the coil) view from inside the engine bay
  21. I even have new ones available... or check my 2 for 1 specials here : http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/27714-stickersdecals-sale-2-for-1-on-overstock/
