good, because my dipstick is screwed. It always says it's full, even in the midst of an oil change after everything's been drained from the pan.
-
yeah that's what I was thingking about too. There's an old bracket attached to my fuel filter that i'd want to use for mounting. So what do you reckon your total oil capacity is after the install (minus the oil cooler)? about 4 quarts?
-
Expected delivery is sept 6th... hey thanks for the link to the oil rel. kit install MM *clinks beer*

how does the body look underneath the rear seats? i just discovered a hole in mine Eventually, I think i'll be doing the same to my frame. When I stick my finger in the holes and feel the inside of the frame rail, pieces just flake off into a pile inside the rail. There's quite a bit of dried mud in there too. I was always wondering what would happen if I drilled some 'drain holes' in the bottom of the frame rail, but never gathered the balls to actually do it-- it is my daily driver, after all. Ain't that onterrible road salt a beautiful thang?

*rubs hands together in anticipation* I just ordered them from www.rocky-road.com. A guy there named shawn was able to match summit's price of $329 --what a pal! so now there's really nothing to do except sit and wait... *checks mailbox* *goes back inside the house*

Good to hear you made it home safe and sound I bet you're looking forward to that cheque "How's it feel young blood? gettin' paid, gettin' paid!"

'm finally going to solve the manifold problem once and for all by throwing a new set of thorleys on. I'm just about to order them, i just have to figure out who I'm gonna ship them to. It is a bit of a pain to get parts in from the states without paying duty on them, but that's besides the point. Of all you owners of thorlies, do you recommend using the supplied gaskets or should I go with the paper-sandwiched-by-metal type? I think that it's also a good idea to replace all the old studs with the stronger 300zx parts. I'm still debating if I should get an oil filter relocation kit (i just spent a whack of cash on plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pcv valve, fuel filter and an antenna adapter for the Alpine) I know that these leaky manifolds are causing my $hitty milage and with gas as high as it is, it's almost stupid not to do this upgrade. I haven't decided if i'll order form summit or rocky-road (nobody in canada stocks the part) so if any of you guys have some tips on purchasing and installing these, i sure would like to know. i'm gonna place my order around next monday or tuesday (payday Very Happy )

gap them between .031" and .035", but you might want to double check that with someone else. Take care not to damage the electrode when gapping them.

I just unscrewed mine and it the little resistor looking thingies are nice and silver with an opaque case. All four of the prongs supporting those are nice and silver. Is that what they look like when they're clean?

hey casey. The sport/comfort switch controls the dampening of the factory shocks. Pushing on the comfort side will give a nice, cushy caddilac-with-blown-out-shocks ride. The sport setting tightens up the shocks and gives a firmer ride. I never have mine on comfort because it seems too mushy for a vehicle of this weight. as for the bad circuits, your best bet is to get yourself a test-light and start working your way down. I've found that these trucks have alot of electrical problems because off all the fancy $hit equipped on the SE models. These problems won't be your last! I just had a bad 4WD switch that kept grounding out on the T-case and blowing mad fuses, son! try to avoid taking it in to a mechanic for electrical problems, because they usually rinse you for minmal actual work. Get a Haynes manual because they have diagrams of all that crap in the back of the book. If you ask 88pathoffroad nicely, he might even give you a link to a download of the factory service manual --comes in very handy post some pics of your truck too, sheesh

if the roads are REALLY slippery, I sometimes let some air out of the tires to get some more grip. This is when siped treads really come in handy.
-
get some good tires and SLOW DOWN. pathys take longer to stop on snow than most other cars. Be especially careful when driving after fresh snowfall with above freezing temps; there's usually a layer of slush underneath the fresh snow on the road. I almost lost mine to the ditch in the same conditions

gimmick. stay away

have you checked your local scrapyard? That's all I can think of. The brackets look pretty simple to make if you have some scrap metal lying around. Just bend it and drill some new holes.

i think there was a sticky in the garage "how to" section. have a look

watch out for cops on the 401 between windsor to london (esp. chatham) that stretch of the highway is particularly bad due to speeders and accidents.
-
O.o nice sticker oh yeah the truck looks good too rami Blur the plate! Blur the plate!
-
does anyone use this style for cooling automatic transmission fluid? Summit Cooler

My switch just went kaput on my truck, now the little light doesn't come on. If you're curious to know where the switch is located, refer to this diagram (it came from Precise1's thread about speedo issues)

he wrote back: True, it got poor gas mileage - probably could have fixed it up but it was more fun to blow it up! Thanks for the info!! Joe pig -----Original Message----- From: Neil Pilsner [mailto:skrillaguerilla@hotmail.com] Sent: Saturday, July 30, 2005 7:38 PM To: info@gaspig.com Subject: skydive your nissan pathfinder I wrote this letter prior to understanding you've since destroyed your truck, but your readers might find the information useful. I live in Canada and drive a 1995 Nissan pathfinder. The gas mileage your truck gets is incredibly poor. Might I suggest you get your pathfinder tuned up. There are many different ways to increase your mileage with these vehicles which include: -Cleaning the Mass Airflow Sensor and Carbon Canister -Ensure your tires are inflated to the correct levels (I use about 35-40psi on 31"x10.5"x15" tires) -Check to make sure your Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve is functioning properly -Check the condition of your sparkplugs for wear -Check to make sure your Exhaust Gas Re-circulation Valve is working properly -Replace dirty air filters -Make sure your vehicle is proper aligned -Check your slide pins on the brake calipers to make sure your aren't dragging your pads on the rotors when you are not braking. -Check for broken Exhaust Manifold Studs. These trucks have a history of this problem. Air leaking into the exhaust system will be picked up by the Oxygen Sensor located between the catalytic converters and cause the computer system to enrich the air/fuel mixture to compensate for the increased amount of air, thus causing poor mileage. This is just a short list of proper maintenance required for all vehicles, not just trucks. This, of course, is only a fraction of the cause of poor fuel economy. Driving habits such as fast starts, long periods of idling, excessive speed and short trips (<5 min. drives) will also increase fuel consumption. I drive my vehicle very sensibly around town and out on the freeways and I regularly use about 14 liters per 100km during city driving. My mileage increases to 11-13L/100km when I stay around 85km/h. For your sake, that translates to about 16mpg city and 20mpg freeway @ 50mph. This is all achieved using the lowest grade fuel available (87octane). I found that learning a little bit about your own vehicle and keeping it properly tuned to be more helpful than putting a f**king "GASPIG" sticker on your truck and bitching about how much fuel it consumes, rather than performing a little maintenance. What's even more ignorant on your part is the fact that you decided to pollute your backyard by destroying your truck using explosives when you could have recycled your vehicle to a junkyard or parts recycler. So before you quickly finger SUV drivers for "wasting" all the gasoline and polluting your country, you should be talking to the owners of cars which idle for long periods of time, belch black and blue smoke or are otherwise out of tune. You should also look to educate yourself and other vehicle owners on how they can achieve better fuel economy through knowledge. I feel your efforts would be better spent there than continuing to harp on SUV owners, and encourage them to dispose of their vehicles in a wasteful manner for your own publicity i.e. "DUMP IT FROM A BRIDGE" -I bet that does wonders for water quality. Asshat.

hey mookie, do you have any close up shots of that red 2dr's brush guard? that thing looks sweet for a homemade job
