  1. I think i remember reading something about a Vehicle Speed Sensor somewhere around the transfer case I only remember becasue I just found that I had a failed 4WD sensor). Lemme go check and see where it is, but you might want to test that and see if it's grounding out on the case like my switch did....
  2. I have to get some new parts from the manifold all the way to the muffler. There are 2 stock cats (both flanges are screwed). I was planning on using headers instead of fact. manifolds (cheaper+better) and at least 1 hi-flow cat. Do you think it will pass emissions tests on 1 cat with a healthy engine, or will I need 2? I have to test my truck next summer.
  3. *puts wire brush away* ok, ok, i guess mine's not that bad!

    Short-circuit

I found that the rear t-case switch is grounding out on the t-case as opposed to sending current to the light in the instrument panel. I think this is where my problem is, but i'm gonna cross check it with my older brother's truck (he still hasn't sold it yet...) So for now, I have unplugged the harness between the switch and the power supply so I can at least use 4wd without blowing my fuse.

    Short-circuit

I finally got around to testing some of the switches and wiring. All the switches on the t-case are functioning properly, so no problem there. But same thing; when the t-case lever is switched to 4WH, I get a surge of power flowing back into the fusebox (i burnt out my test-light bulb). Do you think it could be something limited to the inhibitor switch, or possibly seatbelt timers, meters & guages or 1 of the other parts connected into that fuse?
  6. ahahah marijuana card lol I never noticed the animosity (sp?) towards SUV's on the web until today. Most of them are kinda funny like the H2 haters, but that guy needed to be spoken to. He contradicts himself on so many levels
  7. Gaspig Here's a link to the rest of his page.
  8. I wrote this letter to the owner of gaspig because I was so disgusted with his ignorance. Here'e the page that sparked me to write: Gas pig dot com I wrote this letter prior to understanding you've since destroyed your truck, but your readers might find the information useful. I live in Canada and drive a 1995 Nissan pathfinder. The gas mileage your truck gets is incredibly poor. Might I suggest you get your pathfinder tuned up. There are many different ways to increase your mileage with these vehicles which include: -Cleaning the Mass Airflow Sensor and Carbon Canister -Ensure your tires are inflated to the correct levels (I use about 35-40psi on 31"x10.5"x15" tires) -Check to make sure your Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve is functioning properly -Check the condition of your sparkplugs for wear -Check to make sure your Exhaust Gas Re-circulation Valve is working properly -Replace dirty air filters -Make sure your vehicle is proper aligned -Check your slide pins on the brake calipers to make sure your aren't dragging your pads on the rotors when you are not braking. -Check for broken Exhaust Manifold Studs. These trucks have a history of this problem. Air leaking into the exhaust system will be picked up by the Oxygen Sensor located between the catalytic converters and cause the computer system to enrich the air/fuel mixture to compensate for the increased amount of air, thus causing poor mileage. This is just a short list of proper maintenance required for all vehicles, not just trucks. This, of course, is only a fraction of the cause of poor fuel economy. Driving habits such as fast starts, long periods of idling, excessive speed and short trips (<5 min. drives) will also increase fuel consumption. I drive my vehicle very sensibly around town and out on the freeways and I regularly use about 14 liters per 100km during city driving. My mileage increases to 11-13L/100km when I stay around 85km/h. For your sake, that translates to about 16mpg city and 20mpg freeway @ 50mph. This is all achieved using the lowest grade fuel available (87octane). I found that learning a little bit about your own vehicle and keeping it properly tuned to be more helpful than putting a f**king "GASPIG" sticker on your truck and bitching about how much fuel it consumes, rather than performing a little maintenance. What's even more ignorant on your part is the fact that you decided to pollute your backyard by destroying your truck using explosives when you could have recycled your vehicle to a junkyard or parts recycler. So before you quickly finger SUV drivers for "wasting" all the gasoline and polluting your country, you should be talking to the owners of cars which idle for long periods of time, belch black and blue smoke or are otherwise out of tune. You should also look to educate yourself and other vehicle owners on how they can achieve better fuel economy through knowledge. I feel your efforts would be better spent there than continuing to harp on SUV owners, and encourage them to dispose of their vehicles in a wasteful manner for your own publicity i.e. "DUMP IT FROM A BRIDGE" –I bet that does wonders for water quality. Asshat.

    using the winch

:cool2: Aaahhaha looks like you guys had fun. Who's got the little suzuki sidekick/chevy tracker? Some of my first offroad experiences were in one of those cool little trucks.
  12. quick question for you guys, can you point out to me where the PCV valve screw into the manifold? I know there is one rubber hose coming out of the intake pipe, but I can't follow it under the manifold. I hope it's not a p.i.t.a. to change them.
  13. aka "credit card"... ...and a mint for afterwards!
  14. i've been noticing around my town that monday afternoon is the best time to buy gas. For some reason, between 5-10pm the price jumps up by at least 5c sometimes 10c a litre. Every monday I come home from work @ the winery in guelph and I've noticed this happening for at least the last 3 months --so wierd. anywhoo it's chilling between 85 and 95 cents per litre in waterloo.
  15. good pics pez. The second shot of that black pup is so sharp! what type of camera are you running? Next time you guys go out with the rest of soxc, let me know! I wanna get out there and play too as long as it's not too far to drive and I can get some quality fishin' in.

    Air Lift

I thought you guys would like to read the reply from AC after I asked them about their Air Lift Kit: > Hello Neil, > > To correctly solve this problem is to dump the coils that do not give > you any lift and install one of our 1.5" lift coils or 3" lift coils > and you will have to change the rear shocks for longer units because > your stock shocks will limit your wheel travel and will not allow more > height in the rear. Air Lift

The spacers would be the cheapest route to go. I was concerned about lateral shifting between the spacer and my isolators. Plus If I stack another spacer on top of the isolator, I'm worried the coil will become unseated from the upper spring seat if the opposite side is fully compressed. Would it be best to set them up like below and hope they don't shift around, or would it be better to figure out a way to get them to work with the bottom spring seat? I know the end of the coil has to be squared up against that little pocket on the side of the seat so it would be tough to get it to sit properly on a spacer. Maybe it would be a better idea to drill holes in both the isolator and spacer and insert some sort of dowel-type material to hold them together so they don't slip on each other. Either or, i'll pm you my address 88.
  18. there is another fuse that controls the inhibitor switch right next door to the first one. It also controls the A.C.C.D., A/T control system, power steering oil pressure switch, bulb check relay and the interlock emergency relay. The best thing to do is get yourself one of those repair manuals and start reading. The wiring on these trucks can get pretty complicated when you have some of the options like heated seats, mirrors, p windows, door locks, air conditioning, rear defogger blah blah blah.... then start adding on stuff like auto-starters, alarm systems, extra lights, aftermarket radios you can really make a mess under the dash. Don't even get me to post a picture of what mine looks like

    Air Lift

No, I wanted to keep the coils and use the airbags to level out my truck. The rear coils never lifted the truck up as much as the front UCA upgrade I made. That, coupled with the weight of the tire carrier makes the rear end sag giving my truck a "baja" stance. This gets even worse when I put the boat on the back and load it up with gear. Here's an older picture from right after I installed my lift kit: You can see the difference between the front and rear ride height. Air Lift Kit This was the kit I was considering as long as I don't have to order it from AC. I was not sure if the bags will be tall enough at full pressure to make contact with the upper and lower spring seats to make a difference in ride height. The only other thing that may be limiting the amount of rear suspension travel would be my stock Nissan adjustable shocks which I have no idea how far they can stretch before bottoming out... BrSurfer Do you have aftermarket/JGC/Calmini rear coils? Or are you running stock height?

    Air Lift

Has anyone ever installed the airlift rear coil kit? I'm curious to know if it would level out my truck when I have calmini coils on my '95
  21. i drive a 95 and the fuse box is right by your left knee. It was the bottom right one, I believe, but it may be different if yours on not a 95. I know the dash is different between mine and pre-95's. It should also be listed in your owner's manual. better yet, go get a haynes manual, it's not as crappy as the chilton.
  22. the switch, battery light, tach, seatbelt lights and reverse lights run off that fuse
  23. my inhibitor relay fuse popped last week. If your tach and reverse light doesn't work when the truck is running, replace it. Check all your fuses controlling your ignition system. Your alternator might be packed with mud too.
  24. fill those holds! I envy you for getting paid to fish... safe voyage mate
