  1. i had the same problem with the t-case shifter on mine. You can remove it and then bend a little bit at a time until it clears the floor in 4lo. You might have to take it on and off 4 or 5 times, but it works. I remember reading something about fusable links causing the instrument panel not to work properly. I think you got a pretty good deal on the truck.
  2. you could try switching to a synthetic motor oil too. It did the trick on my old miata. Just remember I don't think you are supposed to swtich back to conventional oil when you start using synthetics
  3. Well it doesn't seem that 'cheap' compared to the ARB when you add up all the extra costs for the KMA to make it on par with the ARB's features: Base Model Wincher, winch mount or receiver style - $480 Options: Grill Guard $85 Light Guards $85 D rings or shackle mounts $40 pair Turn Signal/marker light set $45 Total price : $735 I can find ARB bumpers for around $750 after a quick search on the web. Back in the spring, 4wheelparts.com had them on sale for $665 with free con us shipping. I had to buy 2 3/4" d-ring shackles for mine, but those are under $20 for the pair. You also get 2 cb antenna mounts on the ARB. (i imagine you could weld these to your KMA bumper for pretty cheap) I'm not sure how they make the kma bumpers, but i know the ARB's main body is made of one laser-cut sheet of steel, bent to shape and then robotically welded together. The powerdcoat finish on the ARB is amazing too. My only complaint is I lost a bit of approach angle, but who needs it when you have a monster steel bumper to nuzzle up to obstacles before you climb over them.
  4. funny, i was talking to bender about that last weekend. We should just get some extra 'wings' cut and bent, then we could weld them onto the middle plate. I knicked one of my t-bars pretty good on the bobcaygeon trail over A.W. If you're gonna make your own skids, i would find someone that has a brake-press. the slight bends really make a difference in how rigid they are. It would probably be less work than welding a bunch of ribs to the backside of the plate. You can see the 'x' pattern of bends in my middle plate here
  5. well, i just finished mounting up some 32x11.5x15" BFG All terrains on my lego wheels for the winter. I will post a picture for you so you can have an idea of how far they stick out, but i doubt they will be past the fenders. My 33's are just barely covered my the fender flairs and they are an inch wider and a little more backspacing than the legos. I don't think i will be rubbing with the 32's but that is probably because the 33's bent all the metal out of the way for me Oh, i just remembered that Nismojunky has 33" tires mounted on his lego wheels. he has posted some pictures of his truck and they tuck behind the fender flares nicely
  6. you should get an oil filter relocation kit.
  7. here is what my transmission plate looks like. you can see the subtle bends in and "X" pattern. They really strengthen up the plate as opposed to just having a flat piece.
  8. did you unplug the sensor and try it without yet? It's an easy test to cancel out the possiblilty of the 02 sensor screwing up the truck. I would check that before i go spending 75 bucks on a new sensor only to find out that's not what was wrong with it.
  9. i had the same problem and replacing the starter fixed it. That was after i checked all my wiring and noticed everything was alright there.
  10. i got a magnaflow cat for $75 and a flowmaster 50 series for $140. I got the cat from partsource and the shop that installed it bought the muffler for me.
  11. it makes no difference in fitting tires if the truck is 2 or 4 door. they are essentially both the same body. 88pathoffroad is using 33x13.5x15 LTB's. I can't speak for performance of these tires because i've never used them or seen them being used. It probably won't matter what backspacing you use because they are going to rub like crazy, even with a 3" body lift and cranked torsion bars. You will have to do a lot of trimming and hammering to make those fit without rubbing. I am using a 15x8" wheel with 3.75" backspacking. i don't rub on the frame, but i crunched my rear fender, and had to cut and hammer my front fenders and they will still rub if they are stuffed
  12. i would just stack and weld a couple washers to the plate around the mounting hole instead of using rock washers. They still protect the bolt head, but you can't knock them loose like a rock washer. i don't like the fact that my black panther skid plates don't protect my torsion bars. I have already taken a couple knicks out of them and that's not good. You could weld some 'wings' to the t-case and tranny plates. Shrockworks skids for the 00-04 xterras are really nice. go have a look at them for more ideas. Don't use aluminum for skid plates if you wheel around lots of rocks. Sand and mud, OK, but not rocks.
  13. check out 88pathoffroad's truck in the member's rigs section
  14. hey Rami! I hear ya about the auto trans issues. my brother's is on it's last legs. Next WD21 i buy is gonna be a stick-shift oh yeah about your championship, are you on defensive line or offensive. You did a good job if you were defense!
  15. yeah, check you vacuum lines for cracks etc. If they are good, try unplugging your o2 sensor by the top left corner of the engine bay if you are standing infront of the truck. Sometimes the sensor dies and makes the truck run like crap. Mine did that and the check engine light wasn't even on when it was doing it.
  16. you could also try unplugging your O2 sensor under the hood and see if it changes anything. Sometimes the o2 sensors fail without tripping the CEL. Just remember to only change one thing at a time when troubleshooting. That way you will be able to tell what makes the difference in performance when you adjust/clean/unlpug something
  17. they have businesses in ontario that sell oil spraying service all over around me. here is one of them that I take my truck to every fall I (i am late this year : Houghton Oil Spraying
  18. you can get it oil sprayed, or if it doesn't have any rust or undercoating, Krown makes a good rust inhibitor for a little more. I bet the best combo would be por-15 or rust bullet paint, and then get it oil sprayed after that. Don't wait too much longer to get oil sprayed, it soaks in better with warmer temperatures. It has some wax mixed in with the oil so it sticks to the metal better. I don't know how if feel about using old motor oil. that would be a little messy and bad for the environment
  19. for that kind of money, i would get one of these and some clamp on crossbars and still have enough money left over to outfit it with shovel and jack mounts, floodlights, cb antenna etc... you get the idea. you could probably get SteveO to order you an all steel ARB roof rack for less than importing one from Japan rugged rocks
  20. mine have been fine so far, but i don't pump them up to max cold pressure or haul 15k lb backhoes around with my truck. good deal on the tires too. i got a set of slightly used bfg a/t's from nismojunky for the winter time. It's gonna be nice to have a good set of tires for winter again.
  21. Do what LD50 and GG did. Yakima, thule or sportrack crossbars that clamp to where the raingutters in the door would be what i would have gotten had i not have had the factory job already. Cheap (used ones), sturdy and quickly removable for the winter time if you don't ski or snowboard. The factory roof racks are not as heavy duty as the clamp style. Make your own wind fairing if it doesn't have one. These trucks don't have nice full length rain gutters like patrols and landcruisers so i don't think any of those japanese jobs would fit a pathfinder without heavy modification. I just got the same basket gg did only it's branded by sportrack. i got it used for $80 with a spider web bungee
  22. just a tip for the uca's, make sure you use a tap to clean the thread of the spindle mounting holes. Mine were rusty and sticky. A little oil on the tap and it cleaned them up perfectly. You should use a tap to clean out all the threaded mounting holes on these trucks. It makes it a lot easier to screw bolts into them. I have done all of those mods with exception to the e-fan myself with my limited selection of hand tools. you posted the same questions on tranny coolers in the tranny cooler review thread. go back and read it because they answered that question already
