  1. Bypass what? Starter selenoid, relay, ignition, park safety switch?
  2. My experience is that the dimples on the backing plate are more of a guideline. The dimples on the cam gears get close, but do not necessarily line up exactly. I would say that one of the cams rotated a little when the last person did it, and they didn't realize it.
  3. I wouldn't. I am not sure the particulars on that stuff, but I would be concerned with flushing scale loose and have it plugged something else.
  4. Pull the accessory belts off and spin the pulleys by hand. It is probably bad bearings on alternator, idle pulley, etc.
  5. Are you still running a clutch fan? Could also be A bad fan clutch, so the fan isn't coming up to speed. Or just a bunch of crud in rad fins.
  6. Recently moved (mid December) and after driving the pathy the 3 hours to my new house, I lost the key. Also forgot my password to the forums. Recently found the key in the bottom of my wife's purse, so took the pathy for a spin to the post office after it sitting for a month and a half. Also, reset my password. I am back!
  7. If your torque converter isn't unlocking sometimes, or locking when it shouldn't, it can cause die at stop lights/idle. Check to see if you have any codes stored.
  8. JK Unlimited, commonly known as the JUnK by Cheap. 😁
  9. Check all the connections, both on the alternator and on the battery.
  10. Did you have "We are the champions" on the radio?
  11. Can you fit a die grinder with a cutting wheel and cut the head off?
  12. If you end up needing auto hubs, I kept mine when I switched to manual. Let me know.
  13. BSPT - British standard pipe thread. Most things built outside of North America use it for piping. North America uses NPT - National pipe thread. On a similar note if you have something made in Japan, they use a slightly different pitch on their Phillips head screws. If your normal screwdriver keeps stripping the screws, then get a screwdriver that meets JIS - Japanese industrial standard. Places that sell bike parts usually sell them. I learned this wrenching on Yamahas and Kawasakis.
  14. Are they seriously making heated steering wheels now? No wonder cars are so ridiculously expensive.
  15. Drove it to the new house. First time I have ever had the pathy on the freeway. First time I have had it over 60 mph too, got up to 70. Oddly enough, the reverse lights are working now, also a first. Edit: Got to do something about the seat, that thing is so broken down it is very uncomfortable for an extended period.
  16. The only thing that could be ATF in that area are those cooler lines. Make sure you don't have a pinhole in them. I had plastic wire loom rub through a metal a/c line on the 93 wd21 I had years ago.
  17. You never mentioned the color of the fluid that was leaking? That should point you in the right direction for where to began looking.
  18. There should be a harness connection somewhere under the dash so you could test the wire without taking the column apart. Unfortunately, I am in the middle of a move, so my fsm is packed. I can't tell you what color wire you need. Maybe someone that has access to the manual could help out? There is also a link somewhere so you can download sections of the manual.
  19. Could be, these are known to have issues with the ignition switch. Next time it happens, push in on the key and then try to start it. You could also check for voltage on the ignition wire where it leaves the switch.
  20. What about the other end of the connections, where it connects to the starter?
  21. I don't know why this thread showed up in my new content, but this is the funniest thing I have read in awhile.
  22. A guy at work had a similar problem on a Dodge pickup. He had sprayed the terminals of all the wires with battery terminal protector then put everything together. The protector was insulating the wire that went to the starter, so lights and everything worked, but it wouldn't start. He cleaned the protector off, then it worked fine. Short story long, check the connections.
  23. Your right. Almost all of my experience is on domestics. Now that you mention it, the Nissans do have a gasket instead of a diaphragm. Same idea though, have to keep the fluid separate from atmosphere so it doesn't absorb moisture.
  24. First, you are always supposed to top the reservoir off as you bleed, don't let it get below the low mark. Second, if the split in the rubber allowing outside air to get in, that is bad. Brake fluid will absorb moisture from the air and that will cause corrosion in the system. The fact that it sucked the diaphragm in tells me that the fluid was too low.
