  1. Long time no update! The wait was well worth it, because I now present to you, my new bumper!!!
  2. They replace the factory front drive hubs which are engaged 100% of the time. Manual hubs allow you, when in 2wd, to disengage the front half of the drivetrain from the front wheels, therefore allowing the parts to receive less wear and to yield an increase in gas mileage. You just have to remember to re-engage them before switching into 4wd or Auto. The best ones are Warn. https://www.amazon.com/WARN-29091-Premium-Manual-Hubs/dp/B000CQDPIQ

  4. I kind of think the Pathfinder grill looks dated on a QX4. It does look a lot tougher though, I see what you mean.
  5. That's some amazing wheeling terrain Cornpone! Wish I had rocks like that anywhere near me.
  6. Camber bolts (and a pizza that you can use to bribe a friend for help). Otherwise I think that covers it. Maybe a spring compressor too. That being said, somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think 2" spacers and the OME lift are too much for the CV's?
  7. Yup, camber bolts will be necessary. Watch your brake lines and diff breather when you're doing the rear end. If you lower the axle tube and pull the diff breather off it's an easy fix, but if you pull the brake line off you'll have a bit more work than you had planned. Otherwise it's fairly straightforward, but having a friend or two to help is nice.
  8. Maybe ship one at a time? But even at that, I'd imagine shipping would still be very costly, and then people would complain that their sliders arrived a week apart or something...
  9. Dropped it off to the fab guy; winch bumper incoming!

  10. Finally going to take another big step in fixing the damage from my small crash in December; just dropped The Q off at a local fab shop (4byfours Inc.) to have a custom winch bumper made, and I'm very excited!! He said it could be done as soon as the end of the week if nothing comes up.
  11. Finally solved the mystery sound with a nice new Moog sway bar link. Also finally got a grease gun. New tools are fun!
  12. I wouldn't risk it until you've checked other things. Perhaps it's death wobble? Check all bushing in the suspension and steering, particularly those in the trailing arms.
  13. By the way, you accidentally posted this thread 5 times. No worries, it happens all the time. I'm guessing you're on mobile? When posting on mobile it may not look like you've posted when you really have. Just reload it and it should pop up.
  14. Welcome! I would not suggest doing an OME lift and 2" sfcreation lift; it will put too much strain on your CV axles in the front. It'll also be a PITA to align (by the way, don't forget to buy camber bolts; you'll need 'em). In the rear it would be fine, but in the front you'd be much safer only running a 1" spacer in addition to the OME springs up front. You mention shocks, but not struts; are you not planning to replace them? It's OK if you're not, just looking for clarification. Right now I have the sfcreation 2" spacer lift up front and 2" sfcreation rear with OME coils, but I plan on getting OME coils for the front and removing one of the spacers. I am running stock shocks and struts to no ill effect so far, but I do intend to get new rear shocks. When you do so, make sure to get a longer rear brake line (I can find the part number if you're interested; I have it somewhere) so you don't overextend it. These shocks seem very popular and are the ones that I intend to get: http://www.4x4parts.com/i-18981408-pathfinder-5100-series-bilstein-rear-shock.html I'm 18 and enjoy my R50 too, again, welcome! I'm sure you'll find this to be a great community to belong to.
  15. Looks like I've got a lot of food to get eating!
  16. Technically your suspension will not be able to extend beyond the limits of the CV's, but at ride height they would be at a very steep angle, which would cause them to break very easily. You'd also have a hell of a time correcting the camber. 1" spacer should be fine, but 2" would be a mess.
  17. Never mind, I found it online. Looks like that's a pretty expensive option too. I guess just rebuild the LSD will do it for now, and hopefully a Lokka up front as well.
  18. OK. I was basically just looking at other options because I'm planning on rebuilding my LSD this year, and at the pricepoint of the Detroit I was willing to go that route, but by the time it's all said and done close to $1500 for ARB is a bit much for me right now. TJM is another air locker, right? What's the deal with the Harrop (Eaton) locker? What kind of locker is that?
  19. Darn, thought I got lucky there. So if I get some Frontier shafts from the junkyard and that locker it would work, or would I have to follow the instructions you posted and swap a ton of stuff in my rear end around?
  20. Figured I should update y'all on this. I couldn't tell unless I had the suspension jacked up in just the right way, but the sway bar end link is SUPER loose! Unfortunately due to it's design (hex key in the middle of a wrench; kind of awkward to get torque on) I'll have to replace it with a new one (will be ordering Moog shortly), but it won't come on or off so I'm going to wait until it's nice outside and cut it off. It turned out the sway bar bushings needed replacing anyway (got Moog replacements from my local Advance Auto) and there's a few other bits I should address this summer, so again, thank you all!
  21. I was doing some research and it looks like Eaton makes a Detroit locker for our trucks? If so I'd be inclined to go this route. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dtl-187sl167a
  22. Mile Marker hubs are a lot less. http://www.autozone.com/drivetrain/locking-hub-4-wheel-drive/mile-marker-locking-hub-4-wheel-drive-/140057_5532_1374/ A lot of guys on here run them, even with big tires, so they're definitely good quality. That would make fuel savings closer to $150. In they end though it's your choice of course, just putting this out there for ya!
  23. On a trip that long you'll save a lot of money on gas if you get a set of manual locking hubs from Warn or Mike Marker. This will also make the condition of the CVs a non-issue.
