Looking for a tester - *NEW rear suspension spacers
SpecialWarr replied to fleurys's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Steve: where can i meet you during the week for a consulation?! Et oui je travail sue l'ile de montreal! -
I went shopping for the errant wire that prevents the passenger from pulling down their own window... and got no where other than a clean squirrel cage and a half-pulled door card.... not my best day of work so far.

Gotcha... I figured a dremel would be able to get all the way around! I guess there are places that even a dremel can't get to!

Nice work, and that's a fine acquisition from your other half! I look forward to hearing how the new chip works out, congrats on the final year also! -
Won't Start. Turn Key - Lights, Camera, No Action

Did you do an oil change recently? Maybe try a can of brake cleaner on the starter wires if you did? That worked for me! -
Spark plugs for 1991 Pathfinder SE
SpecialWarr replied to JohnnyHaywire's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Well if anyone gonna know that answer to that one its gotta be Rob!! I for one, don't recall what I put in there last year when I bought my '90 but I don't tend to skimp on electrical bits. The one that are in there are working great as expected from either a Bosch or an NGK product. V or straight I wouldn't think would make much of a "on-the-street" difference on a low compression motor like ours. She's built to haul not to streak!! -
Was that a hacksaw and then a " that's-far-enough" or was that a "I'll-just-make-sure-that-it-doesn't-do-that-again"!!??

Blown radiator and alternator belt
SpecialWarr replied to saulhudson32's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
You may also wish to take a steel brush to the tension adjuster bolt before you shoot some PB Blaster at it... I didn't and snapped off the head of the adjuster (boo for not paying enough attention). -
Power gains: yes but i've been getting a project back to daily driver so I'm not sure what exactly is doing what. It could just be that the exhaust is actually sealed! Gains in economy are all from correct vac lines in the correct location and length installed with grease on the barbs and nipples and correct base timing ( first major week of ownership).

I would be super happy with an early 60's VW Beetle alomst immaterial of its condition! But, alas, I am but a bicycle technician and paid sh@t money for 44 hours a week.
-
I wouldn't mind if it was but I can only afford to keep one vehicle running at a time and no place to store any other ones despite my inclinations to buy most of 'em!! How are things in the Capital?

New tires:
-
Ahhh.... well then the boys at NAPA didn't give me the correct belts.... but it's on it runs and charges! I'm good with it for now!

Pics are on the way ( to be uploaded tonight)! Spent yesterday installing a Remy Gold Maxima 90 amp alt....and I would like to take the time to smack myself in the back of the head for having forgotten to order the slightly longer belts....but the bleeding hands and sore shoulders from forcing the belt over the pulley should do. Pics for that are also on their way!

Rear drivers side tire wobbles while turning
SpecialWarr replied to troutfinder's topic in General Forums
I'm with Precise1 on this one. There is nothing that should let a tire wobble and still move forward with everything tightnted to specifications. If it does then the list of things that would allow it to do that is short: tire is coming off of the rim, the axle is broken, the axle is broken and there is no rear brake carrier / pads / caliper.... I think that's about it. -
And let me know how it goes so I can install my AutoMeter Oil Pressure gage!!! LOL!

Installed some Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires (31-10.5-15) now to find some mud!

I can't really see how as they are built to be in the water on a street car, let alone a truck. I pulled front brakes some weeks ago to replace a wheel bearing and water came out of the piston bellows, brakes worked fine then and fine now. Did you find any loose bolts? how are the wheel bearings and alignment of the truck? Ball joints leaking? Not being a mechanic but spending a lot of time working on vehicles I've noted that finding the worn out things and fixing those will often solve other "problems"! Loose wheel bearings might lean the truck out to the drivers' side if the tension rods are loose enough, loose tension rods might make the truck feel a bit light on the roads also. I fixed both of those recently and I swear I traded the truck in for a new one! All that to say: what other things need replacement on the front end?

Howdy! The question I have is can anyone tell me where I could find a compatibility chart of the DTRL Modules that fit the Nissan family from the era? Does one exist? There is a guy not too far away who is selling one for a 1995 Maxima and I would like to know if they are compatible or not! I believe that mine is dying as I recently reattached the wires according to the FSM wiring diagram and it worked well for a short while but has refused to light up the tail lights and interior lights on a number of increasing occasions. Ideas? Re-wiring procedures? Did I just do a bad job?

This is what happens when you don't change the bushings. The broken one is off of the drivers' side:
-
I had no choice but to replace both tension rods as I broke the rear-most half of one off with the tool that I fabricated over the weekend. I ended up getting both sides done in about 3 hours with my way-too-wide tool that I had to pull on until it hit the torsion bar, take it off turn it around pull another 10mm take it off, turn it around and go at it again..... why didn't you tell me that it needed less than the whole socket length? And I'm just waiting on Canadian Tire to let me know when the DuraTracs are in so I can get them installed just before our annual product launch

IF you go with the pacesetters as I did, make sure you: 1) mow down the lip on the front of the cat towards the engine since the Pacesetters do not have a relief inside the tube for it to fit into and 2) remove the motor hoist on the back of the engine. It prevents the headers from sitting on the heads and sealing. The hoist block is held on to the head with 2 10mm bolts and it's hiding between the firewall on the drivers' side and the top of the valve cover. It bends around the head's outer upper corner near the brake booster. As for mufflers: I'm running the stock one but everyone else has their own ideas!

Just wanted to update and say I got the a/c going
SpecialWarr replied to brc19761's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Nice but of luck there! Good on ya for working at it all day, I would have given up at about the three hour mark and gone for a beer!! -
Well..... did't I just get myself into a whole mess of more trouble on Saturday. I decided that it was a great day to pull the engine's injector/ IACV/ Knock sensor/ everything important inside the engine bay harness and replace it with the new one from Nissan. And so I did.... and it took me 9 hours one cup of coffee, a bowl of cereal, snapping at my fiancee (sorry baby!) and two days to recover.....but on the bright side I know have only the one injector that doesn't work and the alternator wiring to repair.
