  1. Alright, so i thought i'd compile this into a new thread.. Since after my long 300mi. trip in Pathy, through long mountain slopes and being driven hard.. It no longer drives right; such as it has /ZERO/ power. Note: Before the trip Pathy had been doing the weird (acting like i was pushing and releasing on the throttle, when really i was holding my foot steady, slowly pushing it harder to accelerate) BUT. Only does it when it's cold. This video demonstrates to the best of my ability of the problem: http://s208.photobuc...20-22-39-40.mp4 And the lack of power.. It now has to downshift to 3500RPM just to maintain speeds of 55mph up small slopes, where as before would be 55mph torque converter locked, A/C on and cruising right up at 2200RPM. Here's a video demonstrating the lack of power of just accelerating. You can hear how deep it sounds because of how hard im actually pushing it to accelerate...: http://s208.photobuc...20-22-46-04.mp4 I haven't had a CEL come on either. Anyone have ANY ideas?? I've tried even changing the TPS, and it STILL does the problem mentioned in the first video... I have also went from getting a steady 20MPG to a now 15-16 MPG. Thanks...It's really embarassing to the point of taking back roads just to get home because i have to push it so hard to keep speed up hills... It does have a major exhaust leak now, since the trip, my guess is i blew an exhaust gasket, but is it really possible it could just be the exhaust leak causing all this?? I mean, yeah im having it fixed in the morning, but it feels like there's more to it than just that...
  2. so I put my old TPS sensor.back on as it was doing the same thing as my new one..(acting like I was repeatedly pushing and letting off the gas pedal) so I got aggravated and listened closely...and noticed a loud hissing noise..I get determined and start feeling around and on the back of the intake..there's a hose rotted off. aha! power loss and no brakes on low rpm AND weird tps-like issues were all fixed! Pathy does like it used to! I so now there's still some.power loss due to the exhaust leak, but now its 90% better and not having.to downshift to 3500rpm up a hill. Much better! Thank you everyone. I just put the old sensor back there it was, according to screw holes..
  3. yep mines an auto. about to go change the oil and get that TPS right! it drives pretty powerless with it not being adjusted right. and I'm getting 15mpg instead of the usual 21!!
  4. that's not a bad idea!! I'm getting tired of them as well. BTW. one more question since I can't find it in the FSM.. could someone with a WD21 post their tps reading at idle?? Thanks!
  5. WOO! You guys were right. Slarti, the limp home mode was from the MAF. the previous owners crimps came loose on one and recrimped it and Tada!!! Much better. Thank you guys!
  6. and yes the exhaust smells STRONGLY of gas now..
  7. Now it wont even run..i start it up and it sort of runs under the 500 mark, then dies unless i rev it hard.
  8. Tried searching, as i read something similar a while ago..but..search keeps erroring out..Anyway. My TPS was acting up, and failing, so i replaced it, also replacing the entire intake/throttle collar. Now, it sounds like its missing and wont rev past 3k RPM..it acts like that's its rev limit now?? What?? Any ideas? Thanks! Here's a video... (BTW I have NO idea why that sounds like that on the video..it sounds fine on teh computer and phone..but not once uploaded to photobucket...? http://s208.photobucket.com/albums/bb9/Nismo_Nissan_350Z/?action=view&current=video-2012-05-16-15-52-58.mp4
  9. The hubs wont seat unless you get everything lined up for that end clamp to seat on the axle. Once you get the little end clamp on the hubs will bolt right back on.
  10. Hmm..any way to make an R50 overhead console work in a WD21? Or am i just dreaming again...

Please do a writeup on it when the time comes.

Couple R50's in the junkyard by me, it looks like it would work, but my sunroof is too far forward. If you are sunroofless, it would work fine.

  11. TPS replacement time...hopeully itll fix how its been acting lately...

  12. That's where it is. It's the gasket i just replaced last year! It must have blown out under all the stress of the mountain climbing. It's the gasket that usually burns a hole through the floor under the drivers foot... Thank you.
  13. You know, i didnt think of that. The noise could make me think it has less power..Also..i've noticed the past few days how the pedal now has a...'sweet' spot? Usually noticable when cold.. Like if i barely push it itll really go, push a little harder..it acts like i let off..then push a little harder itll act like i just jumped on it. TPS possibly? Could a TPS cause my power loss? Thank you. I just want to get this straightened out before i go and spend money on a bunch of parts...
  14. Actually, replacing the front wheel bearings is extremely easy. I replaced mine when i redid my front braking system... Just remove the auto hub and the entire assembly is inside. Be sure to use plenty of high-temp grease! To remove the plate holding the assembly and bearings in place i just used a screwdriver and hammer..and the fool-proof to that is if you dont get the torque right, the assembly wont sit in. Good luck! Most trail users replace their auto hubs with Mile Marker or WARN manual hubs. Honestly the stock hubs have gotten me out of some tough situations that make jeeps cry! Just make sure you properly engage/disengage them and all should be well.
  15. so I'm not sure what's going oon here and looking to maybe get a few ideas.. so we went on a trip that included long interstates and a detour through a steep mountain pass. I had to follow my cousin in her sports car..and try to keep up so I wouldn't get lost.. well..I floored Pathy quite a few times to keep speed up the mountains..meaning around 5k rpm for an.extended period of time. keep in mind it kept cool the entire time, never going over halfway on the temp. but after all that I'm starting to notice.it has a lot less power, sounds a lot deeper and louder, but yet..everything looks sound.. my idea is it may be a blown exhaust gasket? I mean it is louder and deeper than.before..but would that cause a power loss? or maybe the elevation change messed it up? its due for an oil change..being its been 3100 since the last, which is farther than it usually goes. any ideas?? Thanks!
  16. Wow..after the first road trip with pathy..Had to nearly WOT it up all the mountains on the freeways..and just driving it like i stole it..i STILL managed 19MPG average and it sounds extremely deep now..

  17. Seeing how bedliner is thick, couldnt you apply some down there, also preventing rust with it, or no? I'd honestly use a heat shield made of thin metal to bolt above it.. Just my two cents, but im sure it'll help.
  18. 1995 pathy with a perfect frame and rebuilt tranny? How can i turn down a deal like that... After all having two pathy's is better than one...right?

      i said the same thing when i found a 97 d21 for 250. with a great frame.

  19. Wow, that really sucks..but if it's a consistent 'lope' its more than likely a timing problem. I'd still do what ahardb0dy mentioned and check for spark at all cylinders, and taking a long screwdriver to each injector, placing your ear to the screwdriver and checking for injector 'clicking' Hope you get it back to normal soon!
  20. E-fan swap complete. :) Much more power and engine bay room!! :D

It comes on with the key :) Oh yeah, big defference..its weird because now i can actually hear the engine and not the fan all the time..but yes. it comes on with the key and i can turn it on/off as needed with my toggle. :)

      WheelinintheR50

where did you tap into to get it to come on with the key

  21. Attempted starting the E-fan swap....until i realized i wouldnt have enough time...so procrastination says: TOMORROW!
  22. Wow. Nice job on the server move! :D

  23. Woo-Hoo! Going to pick up my E-fan today! :D

you want a little heat cushion for wheeling though but that's fine as e-fan is more instant than a clutch fan

yeah as soon as the needle climbs it is already dropping back down again, those dual altima fans push a lot of air. i have never even come close to over heating and i go up some really steep mountain trails at very low crawl speeds with very large and heavy tires. its all in getting the fan controller set to the sweet spot for temperature.

i need to find a fan controller, because for now all im going to have is key on..

  24. We could just have a big meetup and have everyone bring their pathy and move their account their-self! I mean, im sure we could fit it all in the back of them...right? But im glad we're going to have faster forums and less downtime!
  25. E-Fan Swap? Definitely.

I use a altima dual fan setup, bolts up to the factory screw in locations on the top of the pathy rad ,then make your own bottom support. super easy. works great even with 3.3 swap and going up steep hills with 33s.

really? im using the Ford Taurus 3.8 E-fan..heard that it's powerful and supposedly easy to install, but if i can find that ill use it! Thanks! Do you use a temp sensor or is yours key on?

    3. Nefarious

      Nefarious

i use a flex a lite 20 amp adjustable fan controller and have both fans wired to come on at the same time with the controller
