Tapping noise from engine at high rpms
ahardb0dy replied to Scott.T's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
When driving at the higher speeds when the tapping is more evident, do you notice any loss of power? -
Returned the defective starter to Advance Auto Parts today, was surprised when the manager gave me the core charge back on top of the cost of the starter !

if you replaced the switch and it worked, even once, I doubt it is the wiring. Possible bad switch? Try the switch from the drivers side if you can.
-
I had a similar problem on my pass rear window, would go one way from the door switch and work fine both ways from the master switch turned out there was a broken wire under the pass. seat.
-
drove it with no starting issues !! Checked the trans fluid and added some.

no way to tell the back spacing with out seeing them or knowing the manufacturer, as for weight probably around 16 to 20 lbs each
-
rear door meaning the back or side door? The lock in the rear hatch door has a small bracket attached to the lock cylinder so when you turn the key to unlock it the bracket pushes on a rod to unlock the door, maybe the metal bracket is not engaging the rod??
-
Reverse and first are on the same clutch pack in the trans, usually if one goes the other is not far behind, that is what happened to my 87 hardbody the first time I had the tranny rebuilt, at about 130K miles and is what the tranny shop owner told me.

Replaced starter with new Pure Energy one, started right up. Hopefully won't have to mess with it again for a long time !!

Replaced the starter today, had to run to hardware store to get new bolts as the ones I had in the old starter would not thread into the new one. Pulled front tires off to check the brakes.

Well I know power is getting through the stock starter relay and the added starter relay mod relay, as the starter always spins just the gear sometimes doesn't get pushed out. Was just wondering if it could be a problem somehow with the relay, as I said bypassing it seems to let the starter function normally. Could be as you said not enough amperage. Going to install the new starter today or tomorrow, if the problem continues than may eliminate the starter relay mod all together and see what happens.

do a smooth cowl with a Chevy style Cowl induction scoop, down and closed most of the time, vacuum operated to open when you want the fresh air to come in. Like Chevy designed it to pull the air from the base of the windshield
-
don't laugh people have used it before, you mount the bottom somewhere to a bracket and seal the mounting holes, than you have a removable top to access what ever is inside when you need to,
-
Aren't the vents there to let the outside air in for the HVAC? Other than that I can't see having a smooth cowl having any adverse effects on anything.

So as you all know I have been having problems with the reman starter I installed back in January. The starter when ever it feels like it will spin but not engage the flywheel. I just received my new starter but wanted to run something by you all. When the starter just spins (like today when leaving work, first time it happened in over a week), I opened the hood and took the wire that goes to the solenoid off the relay I installed for the starter relay mod and touched it directly to the positive battery terminal, the starter engaged on the second try. Was wondering if the starter not engaging may possibly be due to a bad or worn relay?? So far the few times the starter hasn't engaged and I did what I said above the starter worked fine. What do you think??

Has anyone relocated ARB bumper after 3" BL?
ahardb0dy replied to trexterra's topic in Solid Axle Swaps, Hardcore Custom Fab
No welding shops, or 4x4 shops near you?? A 4x4 shop should be able to mod the bumper for you. -
tupperware makes a good sealed container and they come in all different sizes and colors (even pink for Nunya !!)

New starter arrived today, Pure Energy brand, don't know how it will be but it sure looks Purdy !! Also received an e-mail from the auto parts store I tried to buy the Bosch starter from letting me know my refund has been approved.

my 94 has one small wire to the solenoid and the one large wire to it, no negative, it grounds thru the mounting bolts. -

hope you figure it out, you were sick? Get better if you are before working on the PF. I don't know what the 4th wire could be, is it on the harness you replaced? Anyway to follow it to see where it goes? -
replaced the power steering belt and tightened the other 2
