I just pulled one of my door panels to test fit a 6.5" speaker that Crutchfield told me an hour ago would take major metal modifications to fit !! Here's what I found: speaker opening in my 94 with adapter removed: with 6.5" speaker installed: just want to add I did NOT have to make any modifications to any metal other than making 4 new screw holes, I also realize one screw was right up against the speaker opening, but I just did this real quick to see if the speaker would fit. the speaker I used was just for testing purposes it is a 6.5" Clarion the depth of this speaker is aprox 1.75" and there was about another .50 inch of clearance before a speaker would hit the glass, which if a speaker was that close I would just install a washer under each screw location or make a slim wooden spacer. speaker depth, please excuse the poor picture as my hand was shaking badly from not eating all day: Pic showing the window is down and clears the speaker:

He has done a lot of work for me and I refer a lot of people to him so he takes care of me, plus I help when he works on my cars when I can. And the biggest thing I know he likes about me is when the job is done I pay him and usually give him a tip. Yesterday while I was there his wife was telling him about someone that needs something fixed but has no money, he was like and that's my problem how?? LOL
-
My guy is funny, I was telling him that Lucid may do this himself and he was like tell him to do it, my buddy works on cars on the side, works full time for Disney, he rents 2 bays, has a lift all the tools and equipment he would ever need to do anything, he works on all makes, is in the process of re-doing a older corvette, now has a helper working with him and still hates working on other peoples cars !! LOL but he is good and quick, if I brought my truck to him to have this done today it would be done tomorrow, most of the time if he has to work on an area that gets hot he will have me drop off the car/truck in the morning and have it done that same night or the very next day. And as I posted he is reasonable. He charged me $80 to swap the 4 speed tranny for a 5 speed in my sentra and that price included replacing the clutch cable! So come on down I'll hook you up, oh, and I don't make any commission for referring people !! LOL

guess you figured it out but when you post the pics using the tinypic code you don't have to put img in front and behind the codes
-
I use tinypic to post my pics, just go to http://tinypic.com/ create your account, upload your pics (into separate folders if you want), after you upload the pics, when you click on each individual pic on the left side it has where i says "grab your code" you just copy the code where it says "img code for forums and message boards" than you just paste the code in your post here. When you upload the pic to tinypic they give you the option of resizing the pic depending on what resolution you took the pic in, I always have my camera set to the highest resolution and sometimes will select the resize to the 17" monitor setting. So now that you know POST SOME PICS !!

Today I got a chance to meet one of our newer members that just moved close by to me down here in Orlando (Lucidpathy91), nice guy, we went to one of the local junkyards and just looked around, talked a lot, etc. He was saying he wants to replace his timing belt, water pump and thermostat, I told him I would help him if he wants to do it himself but I would ask my mechanic that I use for any big job that I won't do myself for a price. My guy told me $200 to replace the 3 items listed with Lucid providing the parts. I know most people here would say do it yourself but just wanted opinions on the price. Thanks

Have to find out what year his hardbody is, spoke to the store today the price he gave me includes the tranny, transfer case, torque converter, flywheel and starter
-
Ok thanks that's why I asked here, not even sure what year his hardbody is or if it has OD already.
-
got a price on the tranny today from the company I bought my JDM engine from., $450 they said it is out of a 4x4, is that a good price?
-
I know the early hardbody auto tranny's were non overdrive, like what I had in my 87, Can the newer OD tranny's be used in place of the non OD tranny? If so does anything have to be replaced, computer, etc? My neighbors friend has a hardbody and needs a tranny I know the place where I bought my JDM engine has tranny's but I'm sure they will be OD tranny's so wanted to ask about this before I told him. Thanks

thanks for the link My1path, I searched last night but I was looking for a "how to remove the distributor", I've been trying to help Lucid out since he is new and is local to me but haven't been much help. I even went out and looked at my engine but with the manifold on I could hardly see the bolt for the distributor. We are going to hit the junkyards this Saturday and I told him we will figure out how to get either the valve cover off or get the dist. out.

The factory radio would say Nissan on it,most likely made by Clarion, if you want to run a separate amp off of a Sony headunit you probably should run new speaker wire from the amp to each speaker.
-
I know some of the cars came stock but I know Hella used to make a grille for the VW's also, don't know if Hella was the original manufacturer for the stock VW grilles or not.

thanks for the offer, I have a set of 6.5" speakers that were in my Sentra when I bought it, they are crap but I think I may pull a door panel on my PF to see if they will fit. I got a gift card for Best Buy yesterday (for my B-day 11-24) and I usually never even go into Best buy but figured I might be able to pick up a pair of speakers. Lucidpathy91 and I may be hitting the junkyards this Saturday so I will keep my eyes open, thanks again for offering.

If the front doors of the pathfinders use a 5 x 7" speaker, and I know the speaker attaches to that white "adapter", can a 6 1/2 slim speaker fit without the white adapter? The doors can't be different than the older hardbody doors, I always ran 6.5's in my 87 hardbdody, I think I used a spacer to limit the depth but they still fit fine. I'm looking to put a stereo in my 94 and need front speakers as well as everything else.

I'm still looking for Carello lights, I've found some that were on ford cars that mount in front of the grilles that look similar. I've checked Hella, Piaa, Cibie, Cepek, Warn and a few other light companies and none make a light that will fit and still clear the little space behind the grille. But I keep looking.
-
The grille I have with the lights in it came from a 4x4 shop I used to work at in NY way back in the day, the grille has to be about 20 years old now. My boss bought them from a company that imported them from Italy, have no idea of the brand name, but the lights are made by Carello. I recently spoke to him to see if he had any left as I now need a light for mine and I know he used to have these grilles for a few other vehicles in his store but this was years ago when I was still working there. Unfortunately he said he must have got rid of any that he had left and does not have them any more. So I'm still searching for a replacement light. I have never see this grille in ANY other Nissan. Other vehicles have used a similar setup over the years, the VW GTI is one I know of.

the hardest part to swapping from the pathfinder grille and lights to the Hardbody grille and lights is spicing the sealed beam headlight plugs to the PF wiring. The rest is easy. You need the complete headlight buckets from a Hardbody and don't forget the headlight plugs, pair of sealed beam headlights, and of course the grille and the side corner lights, the hardbody corner lights will fill the gap on the edge of the grille, see my pic's below: close up showing space between grille and corner light: same grille in my old Hardbody:

Just want to add that the OEM side steps (nerf bars are what we called them) when used on a truck with a body lift, all you have to do is flip the mounting brackets over and it will raise the steps 3" to accommodate the body lift. A friend of mine way back who also had a Hardbody did this with his steps.

wish the one here in Orlando had more of a selection

Rough Idle, Shaking, And Check Engine Light
ahardb0dy replied to TexasPthFnder95's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
with the truck running you should be able to press up under the EGR valve ( press on the diaphragm), when it is pressed up it should change the idle, if the diaphragm doesn't move that would be a problem as well -
I was thinking the same thing before, someone has to make the OEM parts and most would probably be available thru the aftermarket.
-
well my fiasco if I haven't wrote about it already was with my 87 D21, starter took a crap so I went to the foreign auto parts store that a buddy of mine owns, first starter was a local rebuild, first time pulling the starter even with a 3" body lift took over an hour, installed the first rebuilt starter it lasted 2 days and quit, pulled it out and returned it for the second local rebuilt unit, put that one in (started getting faster at replacing the starter now!! ), second starter lasted 1 week, pulled it back out returned it and my buddy (store owner) says to me " I can sell you one from Beck arnley for $50 more" !! I was like why didn't you tell me that from the beginning !!, went home installed the beck starter and had no problems and it was still in the truck when I got rid of it 10 years later. Also got really good at replacing the starter !!LOL

How/where does the lug nut assembly that contains the outer bearing and such separate from the rotor? I have removed the 6 bolts that are in between each lug nut, but this thing seems like its practically welded to the rotor... big hammer

OEM is always better but not everyone can afford the premium that OEM parts usually cost.
