Well, I cleaned mine on my 95, and it looked clean. But, when I put the Qtip in there with the alcohol on it, it came out black. So it may not look dirty to the naked eye, but it can be. Though, I think on an 03, it's less likely. I'd try a new tank of gas first before panicking. Also, what type of injector cleaner do you use? I've heard that some can actually do some damage to the injectors because the detergent is too harsh. Every 3000 miles seems a little often to put in injector cleaner. Just throwing something out there.

Is it a stock stereo? If so, I had a similar problem, and it was caused by a loose connection in the right rear quarter panel from one of the stock amps. Might be worth a shot. If it's an aftermarket deck with bypassed stock amps, it's probably as 88 said. Pull the deck and have a look. Good luck.

I drive a 95, so I'm not terribly clear on the 96+ Pathy's, but I have read a bunch about the bushings in the rear end causing swaying. Now, under heavy load, maybe those bushings being loose/worn is allowing the truck to vibrate? Just a shot in the dark. Otherwise, I'd say a tire out of balance possibly in the rear, which you wouldn't feel as much if the back wasn't loaded down.

OOps, sorry, didn't mention that... Needle seems fine, not noticably bent; it has 1-2mm clearance. Haha, good thinking mws. LOL unccp, a 'billet' needle !! Cool !! Make it out of aluminum, polish it, cross drill it both ways and put a glow in the dark strip on the end like a pistol sight... You'll have the coolest speedo needle ever !! B Plus, he'll have +5Hp for a mod like that!!!

You can send your ECU in to be modded to JWT for a few extra horsies. I'm not sure if anyone here has ever done it, but I've heard good things about JWT from other vehicle owners. The upgrade, aparently, gives you the most upgrade if combined with high performance cams.

Yessir. Something like that. Mine (by feel only) seems to have very low miles. Very very notchy, and shifts smooth and silent. I don't think my old one was ever that good.

I got a Jap import used manual tranny as well, and it shifts like new. Granted, mine's only been in for about 10,000Kms, but it seems better than mine ever was. It should last a long time as long as I don't make the GL-5 mistake again. :oops: Oh well, live and learn.

I hear ya. Terrible stuff. They use it here (Toronto) like it's going out of style. In Calgary they don't use salt, just sand. Not nearly as many rusted vehicles out there I've heard. Nice clean repair job GG. Should be nice and solid for a few more years.

It's alot of work. I used to work in a sign shop that did that sort of thing. I was the "Weeder" as they called it. I was the poor sap who had to pull out the white space. It was a good summer job for a high school kid.

I saw an article once in the Wheels section of the Toronto Star. It was about a suspension system developed by BOSE (yes, the audio people). It used, basically, large speaker magnets to push/pull the throw of the suspension. It was designed to be an active system. For instance, if your front, driver's side wheel fell into a pothole, this system would, instantly, push the tire down into the pothole, so that corner wouldn't drop, then as soon as it felt the tire coming back up, it would pull it back to proper ride height, so the harsh thud felt while driving through a pothole was almost non existent. Same thing for cornering. They had 2 identical cars (Lexus RWD, can't remember the model), one with brand new factory suspension components, the other with their test system. The stock one would get to the point through the slalom where it would rock back and forth, quite a bit, transferring the weight from side to side (as with any car), thus, causing the driver to need to slow down, or lose control. The Bose equipped test car went through the same slalom, at the same speed, and was actually able to accelerate through it due to the active suspension system keeping the car level and lessening the side to side weight transfer. The tires became the "weak link" in the handling chain. Now for the bad part. The system aparently costs about $30,000 CDN, and it's only in test phases, so that's just an estimate. :eek: Cool stuff though. :cool2: Sorry that it's so long, and I hope it makes sense.

Sort of off topic, but sort of on..... You can buy (relatively cheap) electric impact guns as well, which will serve you well if a compressor is beyond your means at the moment. I had one for a while before I got my compressor and air tools. I gave it to a friend of mine, and he still uses it. Just a thought.

I wanted an SUV, and I'm not a fan of domestics. I was looking at the 4Runners, but around here, they're about 5G's more, comparably equipped. So I took a look at a few Pathy's, and settled on mine. It's a 95, bought in 2001. 100,000Kms for $9600CDN. Pretty good deal. I've never regretted it.

I wouldn't call it a fight. A discussion. But, V6 proved my point to an extent. The Toyota had pulled him out (multiple times) when he was stock. I realize now, after he's been able to upgrade his Pathy (quite nicely might I add) he can call the Toyota sh!t, because compared to what he's got, it's not as good. In stock form, it's basically a toss up in my eyes. That's all I was trying to get across. Good discussion though.

I agree. I also like the overall shape and styling of the WD21 Pathys, except for the front end. It's non-styled as far as I'm concerned. Would like a little more shape, that's all. But I'm not complaining, the rest of the truck is very strong looking. BTW, GrimGreg. Aztec Red. Nice colour!!! I hated it at first, but I've grown to like it.

I do realize that I am blessed with a Nissan. I'm quite happy with my choice, and the extra 5g's in my pocket, as my Pathy has been an excellent vehicle. Primarily because it gets me to work and back every day. As the Toyota probably would have. That's the point I'm trying to make. They may be sh!t offroad, I wouldn't know, never offroaded in one, but they're a good truck in terms of reliability. To compare it to a Heep in any way doesn't make sense. There's a reason why resale value is so high on Toyota's.
