Change the tranny fluid and filter along with the LSD oil in the rear end. See if that helps....Sounds like its slipping when shifting into those gears.....go with the tranny fluid change first. Let us know....

I used the stock rims on my 97 SE with BFG AT KO 31x10.5x15"s....No rubbing issues. You really don't need to go with aftermarket wheels or spacers until you go with a 32" tire

I would only get myself stuck deeper and do it a lot faster!!!! Used a NOS Top Shot system in my old 70 Chevelle and it worked great. But then again it was used mostly for the drags.

Hey Finder, where you at in So Cal? I work in Vista (North San Diego County) but I live in Murrieta (South West Riverside County) I felt yesterdays quake bigtime! I was up on a 25' scissors lift standing still when the lift started shaking and swaying one way and the pipe I had hung started shaking and moving...FREAKY FEELING! No control! I pulled the emergency down handle and I was on the ground faster than you can say WHOLLY CRAP!

I have to trim a 3-4 inch square area of the inner fender well....Haven't done it yet! I'm gonna heat the plastic with a heat gun and try to bend it or push it in. The rims I used have a 0mm offset which by the looks of things might allow me to put on 33's, as long as I do some more fender trimming.

You're looking at $600-$1000 for the lift and another $500-$600 for a set of 31's. Even more if you want 32's or bigger, then you need new rims too. Automotive Customizers is the only place I know for R50 lifts. I have the 2" kit for my 97. It actually gave me 2.5" front, and 2.75" rear. I just recetly put new rims and tires 32" BFG AT KO's and some American Racing Outlaws

Again 88....you're right. Like I said before I think an intake, and replace my now leaky exhaust along with a few other performance enhancers would be money better spent. And i will NEVER go back to 30's...I'll by a commuter car before I go back to 30's. I guess the time in my life has come for me to SLOW DOWN! I really do like pushing 90 up and down these hills though. But I guess i'll have to settle for something a little lower on the speed meter.

You have an SE, right? So that would mean you have the 4.636 gears. Some Fronties (and Xterras?) came with 4.9xx gears in the H233Baxles, if you could find a donor vehicle with this ratio, it would save you some cash. Other than that, I'm not sure how much higher you could go with gear ratios, if at all, with the H233B True, Ive been thinking of finding a donor, but i think a new set of gears might be better. Off to my local Nissan dealer to see what they got.

Thanks 88.....i'll check the dealership and be seated when I do. I wanted to go 33's but I would heve had to do major surgery on my front fenderwells. Plus I drive the Pathy 40 miles to work each day, through some good size hills. Maybe I should spend the money on a new intake, and exhaust.....that might make up for a little bit of the lost power... Thanks again

I just had 32" tires put on and, as i already knew would happen, i have lost some power. A while ago I remember seeing a chart that you could use to help pick a ratio that would help get you back closer to the stock ratio, depending on the tire size you had on the vehicle. Can anyone help? I know some of you have changed gear ratio's....so what worked and what didn't...BTW I have a 97 with an LSD. Thanks

As the old Muscle car addage goes "No Replacement for Displacement" Go with a swap to a Supercharged Frontier or X.....You can probably get them fairly inexpensive at a salvage yard..... Here in Cali it's almost impossible to register or insure a vehicle after an engine swap.....I ran into that issue with my old 70 Chevelle....pulled the stock 307 and dropped in a Goodwrench 350/350...couldn't (legally) drive the car until all the DMV paperwork was completed...took 4 MONTHS! Only then would my insurance company add the car to my insurance..... Dont' ask don't tell...I know!

I'm with ya MaritimeMan, but sometimes you gotta stick with them through good and bad....kinda like marrige, except I can choose not to listen to Metallica and not get punched! And Slick, I know almost nothing of 95 and older Pathy's (not that I know much of any of the other years!) So I can't tell you why they rub. Maybe the wheel opening is different on my 97...bigger from front to back? Ask MaritimeMan or 88, those two would know without a doubt!

I'm with Headman.....CV-Joints....when was the last time you checked the boots? My boots have been ripped for a few months and the clicking has begun. Time for some new boots, manual hubs, and a really good greasing of the joint....if that doesn't work then its OFF with the shafts and some new ones going in.

Whole thing out the door $975.00...and Yes i'm using the K-Mac camber correcting kit which at full adjustment will allow my to add at least 1" strut spacers to the front without being maxed out on adjustment. The 1" strut spacers should even out the truck alittle...... BTW with a "0" offset on the rims i might be able to go to a 33" tire and use the same rim....Will definitley have some rubbing issues then.... The cheap no name brand of the rims were the same cost as the American Racing so the salesman got me the AR's since they carry a 2 year warranty and the no names only have a 15 month pro rated warranty
