  1. Don't worry about what tires or shocks you have, just find a place to legally go and bring some friends...(To help you get unstuck) Once you've been out several times you'll get a feel for what Mods you want to do to the Pathy and how to drive off road. Out here in SoCal most mild off road tires will work in 80% of the areas since most of the areas are Fire access or BLM unimproved roads. A lift isn't really needed here either, unless you want to rockcrawl or do some sand dune jumping. I went offroading for 2 years with stock suspension and a set of BFG radial long trails....I was sure to go with someone who had more experience than me (even though he drove a sheep) I think the most important thing for offroading is packing. Tow straps, chains, shovel, CB radio, cell, Nextel, etc... Good luck, have fun, and always check the depth of those mud pits before you enter
  2. Kick A** video...i'll add it to my collection of Rally vids! Thanks
  3. Damn! You really transfering at 700kb/s??? The best I get is 600 on a good day with cable
  4. Here's one for you....I mentioned give up the Pathy due to gas prices and the number of miles I drive a day.....and to my surprise she said NO WAY! She's the one who picked it out and even though it's been modified from the original, she stil loves it and handed me the keys to her Volvo S40 LSE and said for me to drive her car and she'll take the truck!!!......Has Anyone Seen My Real Wife!!!!! I am now married to an alien....

  6. $2.69 for Regular unleaded this morning at Arco here in Murrieta California. While sitting in traffic in Vista on my way home today $2.97 Regular unleaded at Unocal 76 by the 78 freeway and Sycamore dr. At 13-14 MPG my Pathfinder is killing me....seriously considering getting a small POS car for the 40+ mile trek to work until prices come down.
  7. I've never had a set of Mudders but when i was doing research i ended up wanting to get the Kumho Venture MT's....The link is one of many good reviews i came across Kumho Ventures
  8. Looks ok if it's a East coast rig.....due to the rust, especially the sway bar and the idler arm on the steering link thing.....I would talk him down to maybe $3000
  9. I'm originally from Weymouth (South Shore) and back in the day (Before I got into wheeling) a friend of mine used to go to Plymouth somewhere near Miles Standish area. I guess there are some sand dunes....I hear you can do some at the Cape too. I'll e-mail my friend and pick his brain....i've llived in SoCal for 17 years so i'm alittle forgetful about stuf back their.
  10. Most Factories (Working at one myself) have no real means of selling to the general public....If I own a factory that makes widgets and I only sell to retail stores, not to the public, I have to pack, label, and ship my products in a certain way according to local and federal laws. But if I want to sell to the public directly, then I have to dramatically alter the way I pack, label and ship the product. You also have rules on how you can advertise depending on who you sell to. You also have to be very careful you don't breach a contract you have with a retailer, by selling directly to the public. There's a lot more legal issues a company has to deal with than you think. Depending on the product sometimes it's easier to sell only to retailers or vice versa. I know the company I work for cannot legally sell directly to the public, due to Federal tax, and manufacturing laws, as well as it would be a breach of contract with many of our retailers.
  11. As another older member, I know what they're going through....oh wait! I still fdo the same things I did at 18 except a little more cautiosly..... My thing is Have fun while your young, just try not to take it too far that you ruin someone elses life. If you ruin your own life, thats your bad, live and learn, but involving others....No way. My Pathfinder couldn't outrun a leaking, smoking 87 Hyundai Excel never mind a cop!
  12. 1970 Chvelle Malibu 307cid, turbo 350 trans. Original california car. Bought it for $2700 at a used car lot in Vista California in 1988 and sold it to my brother in-law's father in-law for $8,000
  13. My old neighbor Randy builds Vortec V6's and Northstar V8's for sand rails....he converts them to alcohol and added blowers amungst (sp?) other things....750-800HP! His shop is in Oceanside California.....I'll get the company name next time I visit my parents..They live next to him.... The reason I say this is he has access to a lot of customizers and parts.....He's help a guy squueze one of the V6's into a Bug Videos Click on the Video For Kris Lauffer...and watch the Red Bug
  14. Cool shots....Is that the same year engine or did you squeeze in a different motor?
  15. SWEET! I'm saving my $$$$ for a bunch of them!!!
  16. Nice, you beat me to it... LMAO!
  17. So TJM discontinued the Black one?!?!?!? Damnit!!! Man the R50's are without a doubt the bastard child when it comes to aftermarket parts.....Oh well...still resisting the dark side (Heep!) Would I be considered a trader if I got an X????HMMMMM?
  18. I'll get the model number off my Bilsteins....I love em...Also keep in mind that the shock will not raise the car...the springs to that. The shocks will always have a zero point at the height your springs are holding the truck at, from there they will dampen the ups and downs and keep the side to side sway of the springs to a minimun. Definitely replace the shocks, but if possible get some lifted springs Automotive Customizers has lift kits for the R50's (Although AC is not anyones favorite company, they do carry stuff for R50's) Automotive Customizers
  19. Check the bolts that hold the calipers (arge Allen Heads) onto the spindle as well as the upper and lower strut mounting bolts....
  20. Don't ever drive with anything disconnected! Everything underneath is there for a reason....Check all the rubber bushings for the lower control arm, and the sway bar end links. (Sway Bar end links/Stabalizer Links, i think Runnerman and I are saying the same thing) And NO you do not have to have the car jacked up to check for loose or worn items....although you might want to check everything with it jacked up and when its at ride height..... Also check the lug nuts on the rims for tightness....have you recently had any work done to the tires, brakes, or suspension? Let us know whay you find...
  21. Holy crap! What were those tires sizes.....
  22. BlackPanther Skids!... do a search or just look around in the forums and you can't miss the posts....I just saw some photos of a pathy perched on a rock supported by a BalckPanther skid! That is my next purchase
  23. Post the photo...i have a 97 that averages 12-13 on the highway...2" lift and 32" tires going 80-90mph for 40 miles to work up and down 1500 foot hils.....BAREFOOT even...Both ways!
  24. I do want to polish it later....but for now a simple cleaning would suffice...i'll shoot some phots in the light this weekend...I do like the carb cleaner idea...I used to use a few drop of ice cold water into the carb of my Chevelle when I was running regular leaded fuel to blow out all the crap..downfall....some sort of caustic leftovers in the muffler.....mufflers only lasted 6-8 months....I stopped doing the water trick and the mufflers lasted.....HHHHMMMMM??!!! My muffler is shot and my exhaust maifold needs a new gasket anyway.....I'll give it a go.... Wish me luck
