  1. So wtf I have to send my steering box across the continent to get it fixed? Maybe I'll just live with the play....
  2. I am content with the stock redline tyvm.
  3. Man after having the cooler in front of the a/c condenser I have noticed it made my a/c not work as well as it used to
  4. Actually you can replace the rear section with 2x4 square tubing. That is what is going on with my 93 right now. Also it has been done by another member here in ottawa. There is a video of it on youtube somewhere
  5. Same here. It is the steering box. You can adjust it but I haven't done it on mine yet. will report back when I try it.
  6. Magregors was worse both spring perches were bent up and the frame was snapped behind the panhard rod mount(pretty sure it was there, it was snapped somewhere), and the cross member for the upper arms was off. It took him several months of weekends and evenings to rebuild but it turned out great. He cut the frame off after the lower arm mounts and rebuilt it. Basically built a new frame around the old.
  7. You know, guys he never asked what he should do with the truck. He stated he is going to repair the frame. I have seen much worse been repaired up here in Ottawa. If he is willing to put the time into it like he said why are you telling him to get another truck? Sorry it just bugs me when people say they are going to fix something and then others come in telling them its not worth it. Maybe the truck has sentimental value to him?
  8. If you have the know how, and it sounds like you or your friend do, it is fixable. I would use 1/8" plate. That's what I used on mine.
  9. There is a light on the dash that is supposed to come on if the trans overheats but you probably have cooked the transmission by then. I don't know anyone who's had it come on.
  10. In my truck the a/c only has on/off no other settings.
  11. Well the truck is only 153hp to begin with. But I find it's the same on mine. When you turn the a/c on the condenser heats up and the fan clutch will engage which robs you of even more power.
  12. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet but I will sometime this week. It started right after they did the timing belt so I am suspicious of connections. I know they removed stuff to get to a coolant hose that was to be replaced (bypass hose I think)
  13. All of the pathfinders I've ever owned have had that cat setup.
  14. You can tap into one of the wires on the ECU or TCU and it will give you trans temp. I don't know which pin it is but tungsten knows. No need for anything complicated.
  15. Maybe the hose is not connected properly? But it is common for it to get clogged and leak.
  16. Thank you steve. I believe we are due for a visit to some relatives in Brossard and Cote Saint Luc. I will just take the r50 instead of my pathy.
  17. Headlight switch. Common point of failure. I think you can rebend or clean the contacts but it only works for a bit. You can get a new one for about 40-60 dollars depending on where you go. Don't even bother with a JY one because you never know how long it will last.
  18. It did this before the new cap. And my dad installed the cap and rotor. I checked it and it was tight and the rotor is shiny and in the right position. I will check out the coil. I wonder if a wd21 coil would work just to test? I don't have a parts r50 lol.
  19. The r50 was a 3.3l up to the 2000 model year. It has a timing belt just like a wd21 does. But you are right the 3.5L doesn't have a belt it has a chain. I don't know anyone near me but if you did I could probably drive it up there lol. It doesn't have coil packs, it has a distributor and wires like the older pathys do. I've changed all those parts and it is still doing it so I don't know. Strange is how it only does it at idle
  20. Yes I did search. It came up with a few things but nothing about getting the code when idling only. It is so strange. It drives great and even gets decent mileage but as soon as you let it idle for 20+ seconds the light starts to flash and you can feel it in the shifter that the engine isn't running right. It also seems it will only do it under 1000rpm. If you hold the throttle a bit higher it is fine.
  21. Hey guys I am posting this for my dad. He has a 2000 pathy 3.3 5 speed. Has about 240k km's. He had all the timing belt stuff done last summer and just after that it started having a p0300 come up but only when it idles for more than 10 or 20 seconds and you can definitely feel that some thing isn't right. It seems to run fine other wise and has great power (well as much as the vg does at least). It has a new cap and rotor, new wires, plugs and air filter. It doesn't hesitate or stall at all on take of and starts up quick every time. The shop said they can't diagnose it all they get out of the ecu is codes p0300 and p0446 but they said the 446 is evap related. They think it could be clogged cats but he doesn't want to spend a grand on a set of cats unless that is for sure the problem. Thanks in advance.
  22. Flowmaster 60 series sounds way better on these rigs.
  23. Well I don't think he will have to worry about rust judging where he is from. As for reliability these things are amazing I hop in mine and drive it on 5 hour+ trips all the time without even thinking about it.
  24. Sounds like something injector related. When was the last time a tune up was done though?
