  1. Not the visible belts. The timing belt, it is behind the black covers you can see. To check take the distributor cap off and see if it turns when you crank the engine.
  2. Normally if nothing is rotted out these trucks will leak from 2 places. Either under the hood (tighten hose clamps) or the o-ring that seals the sending unit to the tank.
  3. The ticking noise under load is a sign of the manifold leak. I had the same thing, if you were real easy on the throttle it wouldn't do it.
  4. Why don't you try it yourself instead of believing what a shop tells you. I stopped doing that long ago. But yeah it is easier with the body lift but come on, it's not THAT bad.
  5. I told him to check the studs but he thinks they are on there good. I said to try and snug them up but he wouldn't listen. Crazy russians.
  6. I second the changing of the timing belt. It is a good selling point as well. Shows that it really is ready to roll. That sensor is the cylinder head temp sensor I believe. And yes it is the one for the computer.
  7. What is wrong with those bars? Can you not just re-key or index or whatever. I did that to mine the other day, brought my old stock bars with 200k miles back to life.
  8. Ok so I have had mine emissions tested since having the pre cat /cat removed and since I have the papers from both tests here I found that it tested better with the precat (i figured as much) than with the walker aftermarket that is on there now. As long as it passes and I get my sticker I don't' give a @!*%.

    A/T tires

Another tire you may want to check out is the Goodyear wrangler duratrac. I know a lot of people locally with the tire, it looks aggressive and is great in the winter and in the mud. It actually has a pretty soft compound with lots of sipes so it works well on icy and wet roads.
  10. What nunya said Yep I'm no god. I'm actually an idiot but I just went at it slowly (you can see it actually on my wd21) and it just hasn't been an issue for me. I am hoping to set up my other wd21 as my backup (aka no mods) car.
  11. ^^ same here. I wanna know how this happens. Kinda wanna check mine now.
  12. I don't think you should have any issues. 4" backspacing is neutral. That is what I am going to run on my 95 and clearance (with the spare) seems good.
  13. Maybe the body lift helps But I did my dads plugs (2000 r50) and it wasn't that bad.
  14. The number six plug, I don't find it that hard at all. There is an indentation in the firewall. I used 2 6" extensions with the universal joint in the middle, and have it out and changed in less than 10 minutes!
  15. Is it just a new name or is under new management as well?
  16. I was thinking about doing the same thing. I never use the ashtray it just sits full of random stuff. How long was your radio? I might try and stuff my uniden pro520XL in there.
  17. My 95 doesn't have it. Don't really miss it either though like every other car I've driven has it lol.
  18. Can you record a video of it to capture the noise. It might help diagnose it easier.
  19. I hate this keyboard! But yeah, I don't have one of those pumps. I couldn't get the level back to perfect so I ended up going back to the place and forcing them to fix it.
  20. You can also use a fuse block, if you are going to be wiring in more accessories for a cleaner look. I picked on up that holds 6 fuses which should be more than enough for me for 15 dollars. I just don't like those fuse holders hanging off the battery, at least looks wise.
  21. That sounds like having to spend money.
  22. Depending on where you are on Montreal I might be able to help you out.
  23. This is how I was told to check it, drive it around for 5 minutes (not hard, just normally), then Go from P to 1 and back stopping in each gear for a second or 2 then put in it park and check the level. The morons had overfilled mine when I first had it changed so I had to drain some out of the pan and then top it back up to get it to a normal level. Talk about PITA.
  24. Maybe the switch/sensor that tells it to not work when it is too low on refrigerant is not working?
  25. He has an 03 lol. I would check swaybar links and bushings, struts, strut mounts, and ball joints. They seem to be the most common items to clunk on an r50.
