My 97 squeals when I start it when its cold, and if its cold and I blast the heat at high + use hi-beams, radar detector, CB radio, laptop on power inverter, and stereo, I get a squeeling noise steadily, but once everythings warmed up it seems to go away...

I got two quotes of $400 here in NJ. One said they'd do it for 400 even, another said "somewere around $400"

You, nissandoms, are AzN. You're supposed to have an i-4 Civic with a park bench on the trunk for downforce, you know, when that FWD is at break neck speeds.

Though I do like it, I have to play devils advocate here... With that isnt your tranny cooler and radiator gonna be fairly exposed to rocks and @!*% flying around on a highway? I've had something peel off a truck and smash a corner light at 90MPH.... just think of what a rock would do to a tranny cooler...... and just think of how fast that transmission would FRY.

In my area, mexicans tend to be more into the whole bounce-up-and-down thing on 80s Cadillac sedans, or mid-90s Pontiacs, whereas the blacks are more into massive SUVs (escalade, excursion, etc) that are lowered with bling bling rims and all windows with like complete total black tint so its impossible to see in or out.. whites seem to go back and forth, sometimes I'll see like, a guy in a suit in a crappy minivan... with like Toyo Proxes and rims... and I think to myself "why doesnt that guy get something better than the van instead of those tires that cost him like two grand?", other times, I'll see a guy wearing obvious construction style clothing in a new Porsche. Guy around the corner has this thing.
-
Is the guy black? Why are the tires installed improperly? Theres a lowered R50 that I see drive past the office sometimes, its the most ugly thing I've ever seen, it just looks like a station wagon.

Where IS this happening? If you're anywhere near NJ, me and max will come to the rescue.
-
Thats not bad at all, its just bent in, and its just held on by a few screws. My entire front corner got in a little fight with a guardrail when I was running near-bald tires, just took a crowbar and hammer to it, and the body is back to its origional shape, I just need to replace the metal bumper once it gets warmer out and I'm set!

I remember back in the day when we got snow around here, now its just rain rain rain... its like 60 degrees out right now, and its &^%*@$# January.
-
What the hell, everyones talking about Philly... who else other than me lives around there... Apparently I'm *not* the only Pathy owner in the delware valley ...
-
I'm with you on this one! But I do remember sleeping really poorly, like, I somehow ended up in my own bed, but I woke up every 45minutes / hour and thought there were people in the room, but apparently the most that there was was a TV on and a pile of blankets on my chair.... Then when I finally woke up at like 11 or 12, I felt like I had fallen from a really tall building...
-
Now, the question is, can anyone actually remember what happened last night?
-
So I'm sitting here at work and decide its time for some coffee, I take a short walk down to the local restaurant who I know the owner of really well, so I just go on in and take stuff. So I happen to see my mechanic Glenn in the waiting area, so I told him how much better my new brakes / tires are, and asked him what I'm looking at for a new timing belt job... he said that normally the whole thing runs around $500, but he could do it for me for $400.

I voted for the 23s... haha. Good typo.

My 97 is at 90K Or at least thats what the speedometer has read for over 6 months now -
That was a post of mine, but that was just trying to figure out what my problem *was*... now that I know what it is, I need to know if I can do it how I want to.
-
OK, I've got a dead cluster in my 97. The speedometer reads 0 at all times, and the odometer moves up 1 mile every couple hundred. Seems like the little motor that drives it from within is dead. So I looked online for a new one, but I can only find 98+ ones that have the digital odometer... Is the harness the same for these, or do I need to find a 96-97 analog one somewhere? The analog WOULD have the advantage that I could roll the miles back to what my broken one says so I can continue from there, where the digital one would be stuck wherever it is when I get it. What do you guys think? Digital possible in my 97?

I see one every night in NJ on Rt295, I get on at exit 32 and I normally see it somewhere off in the far right lane... and I tend to stick around him all the way down till I get off at exit 24, and he keeps on going. I've also noticed several Chilkoots around here lately :\
-
I havent done anything behind there... And a family friend of ours is a local mechanic, so he plugged his little computer thing in under the steering wheel and me and him drove around the block, and the engine RPM and MPH were shown just fine on that... so it cant be the VSS... One day I'm just cruising down the highway and it started bouncing, and was dead. Instrument clusters are something that seem to have an interesting legality on, you can buy them used, but of course they'll have the wrong milage... maybe you'er supposed to spin it till it hits what you were at? Anyway, how would I go about checking the cables that go back there? How do I remove the existing cluster, etc... I'll make it my Friday project.

What about the roof? And what about some metal-work and make it so you can carry one underneath... thats... two on the sides, one underneath, one on the back, and two on the roof. Thats a total of... six spares!
-
Well, speedometers and odometers are nice things to have working anyway... I hate when I'm driving down a dark road at night, I'm the only one on it, and my radar detectors screaming about the cop one block down the road, and I have no idea how fast I'm going. Plus, I like to know distances between places sometimes, and I cant find that out too easily without an odometer, can I?
-
OK guys. My inspection is up fairly soon, theres two ways I can do this. I can have a nicely placed Benjamin somewhere near the front when my mechanic does his inspection... OR I can start fixing things. My speedometer stays around 0MPH most of the time, when I'm going 90 or so, it bounces up to 30 every once in a while. The speed sensor shows the speed fine when connected to a computer. The odometer has moved up about 60-70 miles in the last 5 months or so. Obviously, if I try to go through inspection and they catch this, I'm going to have quite the problem. Basically, I need to replace the entire cluster, BUT I have the analog odometer, and can only find digital ones... Theres no way to connect that is there? I've got to fix like only two things to pass inspection, which is the speedometer/odometer, and the airbag light, then I'm legal again. So for swaping this for a new one, what am I looking at here? I've got a 97 XE and can only find 98+ ones that want digital odometers :\

I love mine, they're nice big truck style ones so I get a wide viewing area, and I hit things with them all the time and they just spring shut.
