  1. Well, I figure that since I dont have much off-road time anymore, I can at least get some better on-road performance. How much gain are we looking at with a new intake for ~$100... And where can I find a nice cheap one? my $200 insurance bill is due next payday, so it cant be TOO expensive :\
  2. I'm in the market for a new intake now that I've got a brush guard to look tougher... but I cant find any decent and *cheap* ones.. I'm not putting $300 into something that will only make it look more powerful.
  3. It doesnt even look that bad, mine looks far, far worse, and I use it as a DD....
  4. I bet he was going JUST slightly too fast and drifted right into something. Damn light rear end. Oversteer = nightmare, untill you learn to control it.
  5. The fronts of R50s seem to crumple up even if its parked and a kid rides a bike into it. I bumped a guardrail trying to not hit a minivan, and the bumper bent, the body bent, the parking light shattered, and so did the headlight.   8. Im at work right now, so I cant hit ebay, but someone google "Pathfinder Grille Guard", you'll find a like chrome one for like $169, think its worth it?
  9. My mechanic cleared *all* error codes in everything possible, and it came back within a couple days. But his computer when we drove around, was showing the MPH and RPMs with no problems.
  10. No tranny issues, its something else... mechanics computer said tranny has no error codes, and speed sensor is reading the speed... but I've never managed to catch the OD lights number of flashes, i THINK it was 17.
  11. Finally caught it, it seems to flash 17 times... any ideas?
  12. The tachometer works, and when theres a computer connected, the speed and rpm are both read from the transmisison fine, its somewhere after that.
  13. OK, I've officially figured out the 1st gear thing, because I tried re-creating the situation today. When my rear wheels lock (emergency brake), it goes into that mode, restarting fixes it. Now, to the speedometer: When I start, the check engine light comes on and doesnt go off. Every once in a while, the O/D OFF light will flash like 25 times or something, its a TON of really fast flashes, but it doesnt happen every time. Sometimes, when doing some maniac driving ona highway, the speedometer will jump up and down a bit, as if its starting to work agian, then stops. I have no idea WTF is going on.
  14. Haha, I put it into park a few times and that didnt do it, I was afraid that if I shut it off it wouldnt go into gear at ALL. And I couldnt do 2nd, I was stuck in 1st... I may not have a speedo, but its really obvious when you're in 1.... Well now that thats figured out, whats going on with my &^%*@$# speedometer? The speed sensor is fine, the actual dial never moves up, and my check engine light is on.
  15. Me + a Cherokee are out mudding. Of course I have the upper hand with my pathy and its sexy LSD. So we have some fun, we're going home. My transmission never leaves 1st. I call my mechanic, he says he'll stay late to wait for me to make the trek back to him (10 miles, in first gear). I take ages to get there, hes sitting outside with his computer. I get in passenger, he plugs in. No tranny errors. He resets all the computers he can, clearing my check engine light that I thought was my speed sensor. Takes it for a drive. Transmission shifts fine, speedometer is still shot, but his computer gets a reading of my speed and RPM without a problem. He is actually completely clueless as to what the $#&% is wrong, and is researching it over the weekend, then I'm going back up on Tuesday so he can test his skills. Any idea what the $#&% is wrong? This is so god damn annoying.

  19. Its moved now, AFAIK he works there. Hes with Misfits 4x4. I have a ton of pics of that thing, its got a custom lowered transmission and stuff.

  21. And how do you take it out? Do you have to actually remove the transmission / transfer case? If so, theres no way I can do it.
  22. Ah ha, I figured the two are connected somehow. How hard is it for me to do a VSS and where can I get one for like... not $500000? I NEED my pathy every day to get to work and school, so I cant take @!*% apart and have it out of commission for like three days, so if its THAT complicated, how much will most places charge to fix it?
  23. So every once in a while, when I start my 97 after its been off for a few hours (overnight, at work, etc), the OD off light likes to flash like 15 times when I start my engine... WTF is going on? OD light flashes, no speedometer, this things killing me!
