Ah ha, I figured the two are connected somehow. How hard is it for me to do a VSS and where can I get one for like... not $500000? I NEED my pathy every day to get to work and school, so I cant take @!*% apart and have it out of commission for like three days, so if its THAT complicated, how much will most places charge to fix it?

So every once in a while, when I start my 97 after its been off for a few hours (overnight, at work, etc), the OD off light likes to flash like 15 times when I start my engine... WTF is going on? OD light flashes, no speedometer, this things killing me!

I've got the offroad and dont have that switch.

Nah, I'm getting the manifold, timing belt, speedometer AND HB done for under 400 bucks from one guy...

My mechanic is doing the manifold for $250 since he has the engine out. He showed me it.. theres a HUGE split right down the center of it, so it wasnt even my studs...

Why is the rubber from mine just GONE? All the @!*% spins freely now! I couldnt figure out what that horrible metal-on-metal sound was, so I used belt conditioner to fix "that squeeky belt"... turns out it made it significantly worse. In the words of my mechanic "I'm actually pretty suprised its been running for a few weeks like that"... WTF its expensive! THe part alone is like $250 or some @!*%.

What year and where are ya? I need all kinds of stuff for a 96-99.5... VSS is the most important one.

Thats nothin compared to my guardrail @ 70+MPH in my 97. Almost finished fixing it, now I just need to fix the bumper... everything else is back to normal.

CC was going bad earlier today... the speedometer died after I tried using CC while it was messed up, then I just had to go whatever I thought was the speed limit and keep my radar detector turned up. I still have the tachometer, so I can base my speed on that, but this is retarded. I live on a huge hill, and yesterday there was a TON of water coming down it from that storm, and I had to back up in it a good distance... the splash guard thing tore off of some bolts, and the speedometer / cruise doesnt work any more... think the two situations are somehow related?

I dont know WHATS bad, I just know that I'm driving down a highway and cruise control is on, and the engine keeps running then slowing down, running, slowing down, as if I were slightly hitting the gas then letting go... then the speedometer goes &^%*@$# crazy... WHY ME? What the hell is going on and how can I fix this bull@!*%.

So I figured out what was going on for my last topic.. my speed sensor or something is REALLY $#&%ed up... I'm driving down a highway at like 80mph, and my speedometer is jumping from 0-100 or so, all over the &^%*@$# place.. what in gods name is going on guys?

So we've had a TON of rain lately... and it tore my splash guard or whatever right off when I was backing up my street that had about 2 feet of water on it... so I'm driving down a highway today with cruise on, and I notice the engine constantly like speeding up then slowing down, speeding up then slowing down... I seafoamed my gas earlier today, and hadnt noticed it before that... WTF is going on here?

Lately I get this strange feeling that alot of peolpe think that if they slam the pedal down, they'll break the engine or something.

How do these "stud" thnigs work, i need to completely re-do everything manifold related, since mine is really loud, but I dont understand how to remove it or anything.

I think that theres more SUVs on US roads than cars at this point... Its cause theyre just so nice... I cant ever use a car again, its too close to the ground and too... road-only for me.

Having converted from a sedan to an SUV, I now see that theres no way I can ever drive another car... I NEED some form of truck-based vehicle, no matter how much gas costs.

It was NOT a GT, I would've noticed the GT badge. Lets face it... it was some early-twenties girl who needed a white convertable and thinks its really fast, but it actually accelerated as poorly as my midsize SUV. If I didnt have a full tank of gas I would've probably been able to go even faster, but I had filled up on the way out earlier.

So the other day its like 11 at night, I'm coming down a couple lane road... Speed limit is 45. I admit, I always go a steady 60 on that road... My friend is following in his 96 Cherokee Sport. Some girl in a Mustang decides that she wants to be cool too, and whips into my lane blocking me from going my speed. She eventually moves over cause I'm swerving back and forth behind her.. Then we're at a light, so I rev my engine to 6k a few times, and my broken exhaust makes it very hearable. The light turns green. We both floor it (she is in the left lane, allowing her to merge onto a highway, I'm facing a second red at the highway she was going onto). I actually keep decently close to her before I had to slam on the brakes to prevent hitting the stopped cars in front of me. Eventually me and my friend cross the light and get out at his house, where his friend is waiting for us to arrive. My friend starts laughing uncontrolably and says "That was the funniest thing I've ever seen! He actually raced a Mustang!"

I just wanted to mention that I'm at like a record personally... I've gone 240 miles and still have 1/4 a tank of gas! And I was doing 85 MPH on I-76 with the full tank a few days ago! And I drive the thing like a sports car...

My passenger side manifold is $#&%ed up and my exhaust is loud as hell now... Nissan says the recall to fix the problem ended in 05... what do I need to do to fix this @!*%? I figure I should do this before it gets too cold outside.

I went in, the guy ran my VIN... the recall ended 9/30/05 according to the computer (which he showed me, and was very clear)... What now?

I did some seafoam through the intake a few weeks ago, so that should be good... I'm going to head over to Cherry Hill Nissan today after work and talk to them about the manifold... Just dont know what to say. "Bitches, fix my exhaust" or "My R50 is covered under an extended warranty... wanna fix it?"

I figured I can get the plug cables from pep boys cheap and do that myself.

I said "I need an oil change and work about 6 buildings up... but thres a ton wrnog with this thing so tell me everything that you can find" so they spent like 3 hours &^%*@$# around with it. I'm going to try going to a Nissan dealership and seeing about the manifold problem, since I've got about 12k till 100.

My exhaust sounds like a 3 cylinder diesel. I've known I have a manifold problem for ages, my normal mechanic said that the bolts and gasket need replacing for $275. This guy said that the manifold is cracked... wasnt that one of the pathy recalls...?
