Well no need to worry about that knocking noise, its mysteriously gone after some crazy trails. Now I definitely have wobble in the steering. I'll SEE about going, I can definitely take off from work, but its more of a funding thing :\

On the topic of gagues, when they finally die, how are we supposed to replace them? Noone sells the ones with the analog style odometer on ebay, its all digital... how do we go about changing them? Also, would one from an 99+ fit in my 97? BTW, get some gas dude.
-
If there werent so many things $#&%ed up on my Pathy, I'd do it. We should have a "fix sakana's pathy" fund.... You know, figure out WTF that knocking noise up front is, get me a working speedometer/odometer, get me a lift, etc.

I've noticed that smitybilt or whatever also seems REALLY crappy, I saw one on a friends truck, and it looked like it was made of 1" hollow aluminum. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-Hard...sspagenameZWDVW Thats the same one I have, the picture shows a 1st gen, but you tell them what year you need.

Go on ebay and look for one, they're $200 shipped, and you put it together yourself fairly easily, it takes two people to put it on (one to hold it up, another to drop the bolts in). Just bolts into the bumper in 4 places.
-
Everyone here is going to bug you about it and demand that you get a new bumper.... BUT... My 97 XE Sport came without one, and I found some that bolt right onto the bumper, rather than the frame, for less than $200 shipped on ebay...

I get the whirring noise in 4WD, and its far more pronounced in 4LO, Its just the transfer case's gears.

Auto Tranny slipping under hard acceleration
SaKaNa replied to OE812's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Mmy R50 will start in 2nd when it can, but if i slam the pedal down it normally goes to 1st, but occaisonally if I dont slam it fast enough, it gets hung up in 2nd, and my tranny is recently rebuilt. -
So you have the same problem, unfixed?
-
Yeppers, every time I rock it back and forth I get that sound. So, I should probably stop going over speedbumps at 35-40mph eh? I looked at it and it doesnt look damaged at all, so what are we looking at here? Something I can leave for a while? If i keep my music up like I always do, I dont even notice it!

My alternator belt slips like its got some a grease coating on the belt and pulley, its insane. I'll be cruising down the road and realize my headlights and cluster lighting is really dim, I'll shift into N and floor it into the red, and with a loud screech it catches again and everything gets bright again... I just dont know how to tighten it :| But I DID spray all the belts down the other day, I figured, its getting colder out, better do it just to be safe.
-
Which, the whirring, I think thats a belt issue... the knocking I'm thinking i s a CV joint, or some brushing somewhere, its only when I go over really uneven pavement or turn abruptly...
-
OK, so I took a drive over to 7-11 tonight, and its fairly cold and humid tonight. When I got back home, I got out of my pathy with it still on, and noticed this almost whirring sound coming from it, like a belt or pulley.. But I DID use a decent ammount of belt conditioner.. wait, now that I think about it, its probably the belt going to the alternator slipping non-stop, I definitely need to tighten that. MOVING ON TO MY OTHER NEW SOUND... When I'm at warm-idle and just touch the gas real quick, I hear a click from my fuse/relay box area in my engine... WTF is this? ALSO... knocking sound when I turn... bad cv joint?

I'm paying friggin $160/month for minimum, its killer.

Yea, uh, how is the R50 a minivan, exactly? I'm really interested. If you're trying to say that its a minivan because its unibody, then I suggest you do some research on the Jeep Cherokee (XJ), lets face it, thats the most easily and frequently modified of off-road SUVs on the market, and it was always made as a unibody...

Or some bong smoke. We all wanted to say it, but everyone was afraid to.
-
How the hell can you get pulled over for having an air freshener? I like to keep 3-5 of them hanging there, plus the skull one is badass. And the radar detector has VG-2/Spectre cloaking anyway, they'd have to actually SEE it to do anything about me... but it sounds like they're looking around in there anyway...
-
Who needs parking lights anyway? Me and max both dont have any..
-
Its the commercial where "Absolutely nothing happened", as the narrator says.
-
I dont know if its only in my area (Philadelphia), but theres a tan 99.5+ pathfinder in a progressive (i think) commercial!
-
Oh, and no matter what you do, DONT rock alot like uncc said. I did that in my R50 once, when I managed to get all 4 wheels off the ground... rock rock rock rock... transmission was trash. Those things are &^%*@$# expensive.
-
I'd sooo do this, if I werent in the northeast US... LONG drive just to pull someone out.
-
Instead of getting one of these... you should just mount a radar detector above your mirror... Then you get the compass, AND you can drive as fast as you like! And since your radar detector would be mounted so high, you get an early warning, since its mounted above the roofs of the cars :>

What do you guys think of the ones with a built in cooling fan? Good idea if you go through deep water, or bad idea?
-
In the mornings, I normally just hop in, start the engine, throw it in reverse and leave the driveway... but for the last few days its been in the 30s-40s in the morning, so I let it warm up for like 5 minutes so *IM* not cold..
