  1. Why do you need to change the water pump. Yes, the water pump in a 3.5 is driven by the timing chain. They are considered a low drag pump and I have never had to replace one. If you do need to replaced it, I do belive you remove the inspection covers for the water pump and chain tensioner. You need to remove tension from the chain. Pull the pump and put the new one in. Its sounds easy, but it really isnt. I will see if I can find a writeup about it.
  2. Your thinking of the Murano or the Rouge. Front wheel drive with AWD option. What I like here at Infiniti is the new EX crossover. RWD with a AWD option. And its fast! Unfortunaly, Nissan, and most car makers, need a vehicle they can sell all over the world. Specialized markets are a think of the past. Most automakers let the aftermarket "specialize" thier vehicles, and thats all based on sales. I for one still cant believe there is no other vehicle that competes directly with the Jeep Wrangler. Now, thats what I would like to see happen to the pathfinder. Even if it was a rebadged Patrol!
  3. Well, before my lunch is over, I figured I would ring in. Im going to use my Wheeling Big Homie video as the example. Two mildly built vehicles going up the same trail. I go up first then the Jeep. I am by no means a expert at off-roading, but I can read a trail pretty well(well, as Ive been told). Rig or Driver? (See the vid in the Members rides section)
  4. Ok, I gotta ring in. I have driven all the versions of the pathfinder. Yes, the newer pathfinders are a little more friendly to the driver than the WD's. I would say that the R51 are nice to drive. Havent had one off road, but obviously, IFS and RIS have some limitations. I would like a new pathfinder for the 7 person seating. I drove one home last year when I still worked at the nissan dealer and my family loved it. Taking if offroad, probably not. But perfect for the mountian passes or heading out to the beaches on the coast. For a midsized suv, I think its a pretty good vehicle.
  5. This is what the inhibitor relay looks like. Its located right next to the battery. Have someone tap on it while you try and start it.
  6. Check for a alarm switch in the center console.
  7. Inhibitor relay. Looks something like this.. Tap on it while someone else trys to start it. Have the other person hold it in the start position while you smack it. If it starts you need a nnew relay.
  8. Did you read this sticky? I think it will answer your questions. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=6957
  9. Have you checked fuses yet? Is it only the rear lights that dont work, or are the fronts out as well? I would assume your remote start is giving power to the ciruit in the mean time.
  10. The cleaning part, yeah. Once you drop the motor down, you will have the fan blades attached(or better known as the squirrel cage). On the other end on some, you can removed the cap that on the end and see the dust. you can tear it down further, but I usually got away with smacking it a couple of times. Even used compressed air, just dont breath the dust. I have revived several blower motors that way.
  11. Yep, just behind the glove box. Im betting on a mouse that tried to make a home, or a plastic bag that got sucked up in there. 3 screws, connector and the breather and out she comes. Hopefully you wont have a hard one. I have gone as far as removing the cap on the end and cleaned some of the dust out. Sounds like something is in there throwing it out of balance.
  12. I clear 33x10.5 BFG M/T's with the 3+3. I did some trimming, but that was only because i wanted to.
  13. You could get a old Stanza wagon! They came in AWD and with a maual or automatic trans. You could pull the old 2.0 or 2.4 out and stuff in a SR20. It be freakin sweet, but ugly. Similar AWD system as the old Skylines! http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:By...ssanStanza1.jpg sorry, I was just trying to be funny. Get a Z, I loved mine!
  14. They may have been a little extreme before I lowered the front a touch. But the joint boots are fine and it doesnt take a tonn of effort to turn. I dont know, maybe I got lucky!
  15. Im not overly defending AC, but my arms have worked great. I was able to get the alignment within specs and they dont sqeak too often now that I installed grease zerks. I do regular checks on the bolts and nuts to verify everthing is properly tightened and make sure there are no other problems. I did notice a little bit of wear on the bushings when I rebuilt my right CV, but I also had the torsions overcranked(I have Sway-Away bars). Dropped it down a little, regreased and all is well.
  16. Take 5 and read this... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=12828
  17. I just found this the other day. check it out. http://www3.telus.net/ronnie/Gauge%20Clust...0Conversion.pdf
  18. I dont think you are going to find a Skyline in a junk yard. All skylines are either shipped from Japan or are built(usally using a 240sx chassis), but that not really a skyline (sileighty). There were several companies importing them, but the Fed has cut into that. I would try here http://www.theskylineshop.com/ and do some research. Unless you can find another business importing them. I would even try E-bay to find one. *Mod may want to move this to the general forum*
  19. So, is it only the dealer that you visit that knows it was stolen? If so, take it to another dealer if you have the choice. When a vehicle is stolen, as long as it is repaired correctly, and the failed part in question is not damaged, the warranty should still be good and the part covered. Only thing you have to worry about is if the part is damaged due to it being stolen, then you may only be required to pay for the diagnosis.
  20. Go to Batteries Plus for your Optima. $120 the last time I checked.
  21. It looks like you are missing the bump stop. Mine did that when I raised it a little to far. I lowered the side and replaced the bumpstop and its still there. You can get some low profile bumpstops or go with factory. IIRC, it wasnt very much money. You might try and respline the torsion bars, but if they are weak, you wont get much lift.
  22. The numbers 5 5 2 3 in Japanese, sounds like Go Go Nia San. Get it? Go Go Nissan Pathfinder......Im proud of that creation Real name is Derek, but thats boring.
  23. I found that the discs are the same size, but havent found anything on the flywheels yet. Those particular measurments are going to be tough to find.
  24. Well, welcome to the site! As for which clutch to use, you may be just fine with factory. Some of the Frontiers came with a 5-speed and the clutch does just fine(buddy of mine had one). A ACT clutch would be a nice alternative also(used one on my 91 Z). I am not sure about using a lightened flywheel or aluminum though. There has been some discussion on whether it would actually help or not(used aluminum Fidanza on the Z). It should fit onto the pathfinder trans as they are almost the same. I dont have exact numbers here in front of me, but I will do some searching.
  25. Pop the cap off and remove the rotor. Then removed the cover plate and look down inside of the distributor and look for metal shavings. I have seen this many times and even did it on mine. But, the vibration you feel may be coming from the timing belt. Loose belt can create vibration.
