  1. I found that a good long pry bar through the upper A arm works just as good if not better than a clamp to reinstall. Just my 2 cents! Denis
  2. Why corner when you have SAS.......you can just go over!!!! Denis
  3. Mine had a lot of heat coming up through the shift lever and handbrake. I took my console apart and realized there was a bad boot on the shift lever leting the heat through. Made a huge difference when I changed it. Denis
  4. The easy answer to your question is Pro-will stop an anoying rattle and Con- could be the source of your Pathy burning........before people start bashing my answer.....these are the very extreme cicumstances. Heat shields are there as a protection of just that....Fire. Remember sometimes you can fix heat shield rattles with a hose clamp or self tap screws. If your exhaust system has no leak or it doesn't get clogged up via your cataletic converter or muffler, you shouldn't have to worry, but as your rig gets older, remember to check frequently for leaks where heat shields are missing. I've removed heat sheilds before without adverse effects, but I've also almost burnt my Pathy down because there was a leak were there was a missing heat shield. (Started smelling smoke on the highway on the way home, within two minutes I couldn't see and when I stopped the carpet had red ambers under it). This was an extreme circumstance of a hole in the floor above a leak in the exhaust and no heat shield. Sorry, I guess so far I haven't realy said yay or nay......so I guess what I'm trying to say is it should be your decision and if you remove you should know what some of the worst outcomes can be. Denis
  5. Yeah, I know on the Taurus you have to hit F defroast and Max AC at the same time to convert. I'm sure you must be able to on the Nissans since they're a Jap vehicle.
  6. Here's the link! Look on the left hand side under Feb '06 and 1990 Pathfinder. http://www.mustang.bc.ca/ Denis
  7. I don't have my manual in front of me but I'm 99% sure that it's solely for the temp and fuel gauge. I sorta recall tracing back on that voltage line when I fixed mine and don't remember seeing anything else on there.
  8. I was going to send out a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to everyone too.......So instead of a new tread......... MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!!!!!!!!! Denis
  9. Sorry I was meaning to add Radioshack in there. That's exactly what I meant.
  10. Sounds like you have a bad temp/gas gauge voltage regulator my friend. About forty dollars for a replacement from the stealer and about $3 and a little (i do mean little) knowledge of electronics/electrical. I had written a document up on this a while back here's the link to it. http://www.nissanpathfinders.com/Solution2.pdf Denis
  11. What he said and it is called a sway bar link eh! here in Canada
  12. I guess I check for new posts on the forum before I check my e-mail, because I saw this post and then went to check my e-mails . Looks good 88!
  13. I agree with Precise. Tires shouldn't give a difference in road noise within a 2kph range.
  14. I agree with derogate. Tires wear different on different vehicles due to alignment , weight etc. and can make tires noisy. Often a vibration or noise(hum) that apears at a certain speed and leaves at higher speed is alignment/tire oriented. My cousin has an alignment shop and said Coopers (specialy the snow tires) are known to give a bad bearing type hum. Denis
  15. I think that UAP/NAPA carries those plastic couplers.
  16. If you attempt this yourself I would suggest taking the window off. Reason? because if you get som of the gunk that you are removing from the glass on the inside window seal, it will smear the window crazzy everytime you lower and raise the window.
  17. What can I say........Smart cars with dumb looks!
  18. Goo Gone is da bomb. It's a cleaner that will clean pretty well any sticky crap off of pretty much any surface without staining. It's got a citrus smell, so no horible fumes. I have never tried it on this application, but for about $3 a bottle it might be worth a try. Most harware stores around my neck of the wood carry it. http://www.magicamerican.com/products_gg.shtml Denis
  19. Or Garbage or gums up your paint job....... If you want to keep it to protect your door, they also make this similar product in a variety of colors that wouldn't be so obvious.
  20. I don't think you will increase your gas millage drastically by switching to manual hubs. Warn does have manual hubs that fit the Pathy. They will probably run you close to the $500 range though. Denis
  21. It would be a VG30. There might be some slight differences amongst the different years (probably an extra letter on the end ie: VG30E or such). I'm sure someone that is a little more knowledgable on this will pipe up here. Denis
  22. 200K miles is a lot on a timing belt. This is raising a red flag as far as a possible cause. Long story short. The inteference motor means that some valves would end up being open when your piston ends up at it's top postition and that the piston will colide with the valve (usually bending valve, posibly doing piston damadge). I would have it towed to your mechanic and have him remove the timing belt cover. If it's not the culprit, take this as a warning and have it replaced. If it is broken or damadged......then you have a decision to take. Good luck and let us know the outcome! Denis
  23. I just replied to your post on the Automotive Forum. I was kinda going in the same direction as your neibour. I was hoping it was just my paranoia kicking in, but I was thinking timing also. How many miles on the timing belt and did it make clunking noises as it died or after it died and you tried starting it? I hope it's not the timing belt because these are interference motors which means very high chances of major motor damadge. Denis
  24. Glad to see no one was hurt. I think the lucky one in this misshap is the girl driving the mustang for pulling what seems to be a dangerous careless Uturn and for not getting hurt. A vehicle the Pathys size hitting a low sitting car like a mustang on the drivers side could have been a lot worst. I'd definately try to get part of a bullbar/bumper out of this deal. Good luck and let us know what happens. Denis
