  1. LOLOLOL, from their site, 1st link Estimated Installation Time 4 hours HAHAHAHAHA, yeah right. Only 4 hours to pull T bars and reinstall, then index, then reindex cause you did too little, then the rear? I think not. Maybe 6
  2. I'm definately for the slush fund idea. I have yet to meet Mr. Jim, however, Aaron is not only very informative, but one of the most helpful people I have ever met, even if he is a little funny looking. In all seriousness, if these guys need a hand, I'd be more than happy to kick down what I can. I'm not totaly sure I like the idea of membership fees, as it may turn away some of the less frequenting members. If I had to I would though, as I do enjoy this community very much, and also, I like the idea that you have to have a little incentive to post in the for sale section. So be it, which ever way it goes, let me know where to send it, and to whom it's going to, and it will be done. No questions asked for those two, or the betterment of this family. MM
  3. If you do have spark, the injectors could be air locked. Not usualy a problem but can happen if you run her out of gas. BYW this is assuming you have a MFI engine not TBI, but well, I guess that would be the same.
  4. Yeah I did too, but I actualy had a PM. It opened and read just fine, it was just the rename instead of the regular NPORA.
  5. mws, which Optima's are you talking about in your research. I know the red tops are not known for their amp/ hour longevity, but the deep cycle yellow tops are far better. I do not know their number off the top of my head, but I will definately look into it and get back to you. M.M.
  6. The output of an alternator has to do with it's windings. You can find a reputable shop that knows its stuff about alternators, and rewind it for you to get the desired output. 110A on the Quest is good for most general stuff; Stereo, extra lights, etc. I'd search around in your local yellow pages and call to talk to your local guys before you go searching around. The ones AC sells are just rewound Pathy Alts.
  7. Just remember; Power = Voltage x Current P=VI Power = Voltage^2 / Resistance P=V^2/R Power = Current^2 x resistance P=I^2R By having small wires, you increase the current through them. Think of them as a pipe. The bigger the pipe, the more flow thay can handle. As a matter of fact, think of the whole system as a pipe, like this; Resistance is the size of the pipe Current is the flow through the pipe and Voltage is the pressure in the pipe. They all effect each other, and if you change one, the rest must be changed to get the same output.
  8. Got it too, glad to see 88 finally got off his butt and did somethin 'bout it.
  9. Hey welcome back around. Good to see the mass Email reached it's intended targets. You'll notice the board had grown quite a bit since you've last been around.
  10. Thorley's. I have em and love em, and from what I hear, the pacesetter's look like they gave a kid in Mexico a stick welder and said "have at it". The winch option has been debated back and forth across the relm. The hydraulic definately has it advantages and disadvantages. For one, it is able to produce greater pulling power at less effort, as it run off your power steering pump. This disadvantage is that you motor HAS to be running for it to operate. So if you are stuck in a mud puddle or a river crossing, you are SOL. The electrics do not put out as much power in as small as a package, but, as prior mentioned, they can run without the rig running. Granted, this is for a short time, but it might be enough to get you out of what you are stuck in. Overall, this is the route I am planning, and I have considered it carefully. I already have done the Quest alternator swap, so a charge isn't a problem, and I am planning on uprading to a set up of dual yellot top Optima battiers. This set up has it's advantages, as, I can run with the engine off, for a longer period of time than stock. The higher output of the alt means the deep cycle batteries will get plenty of charge, and they have tons of CCA (a pair at 1500) to run a winch running, even at idle. This set up seems the best to me, but like I said there are those who will swear by they hydraulics, and others by the electric. Do your research and figure out which will suit you best.
  11. It's about a 1/2 to full case of beer job, depends on how fast you work.
  12. yup, Fun times. The first time I pulled my motor it took me three days. The second, 4 hours. It's just figuring out how everything comes apart. How did you enjoy those bolts on the top of the bell housing? Fun huh?
  13. Just drive over to any exhaust shop in town that sells flowmaster's. The guy has more than likely seen enough of em that he can just look underneath and tell ya which one ya need. Thats what I did, and It's been perfect.
  14. *bows out* hehe, I'm wrong. See I can admit that. I just called Calmini. The guy on the phone said it was commin out very very soon, they are just finalizing the pics and what not to put up on the site. I asked about price, and he didn't give me a direct price, but he did say it was going to be considerably cheeper than the X. This is due to the regular hangers as opposed to coil overs of the X's. So yes Filthy, you are right.
  15. Ok, but mark my words, I bet it's still gonna be $1600+
  16. Thats good news. A company like Calmini doesn't rush things, hence the long wait. Coilover would be nice, but I think it would take ALOT more welding to the Pathy to make it fit, as their kit is strickly bolt on with the exception of welding the hangers on the axel. Also, having bought Calmini products before, I can say this: I don't think it's gonna be too much cheeper than the xTerra one, sorry to say. It's Calmini; It's Great............great but expensive.
  17. Here are somew pics of mine. The first pic is how they are supposed to be tucked. My one anchor hangs down due to a spung T-bar, but thats probly the way yours were before they got greased by a rock. Good Anchor: Droopy:
  18. Thats pretty dang good. I amazed myself this summer when I made it from 88's place in Salem all the way to Redding, CA on one tank. It was about 420 miles total, and she only took 19.5 gallons, so I still had a bit left. I agree, amazing what a bit of tune up can do.
  19. Good write up LowRider, I think I see a series starting. Keep up the humor.
  20. I see. I have been around for a bit, but no where near the begining. I had a taste of Mr. Jim's vision, if you will, just before things went south for him and he took his sabattical. For a time I wondered why he didn't come back, and now, with all that has been said in this post, it has become slightly more apparent. He may not want to come back. For the exact reasons you stated. He started this joint as a dream that he had, and wanted to share it with others. Yes you are right. It definately is a much different place than when I first came to it. Sure I have "POHO'd" it up from time to time. I also have learned so much from this last year by checking this forum almost everyday. The little tid bits by old and new alike are very useful, but yes, once again, you have a strong point. It is lacking that luster of those who started it all. Mr. P is still around, 88's on a time out due to life (he'll be back, I guantee it), Mookie pops in every now and then, but yes, where are the rest? Can't answer for sure, but I'm sure they haven't forgotten about the place.
  21. SO then we are letting this die? Just checkin. "Why go to bed mad when you can stay up and argue?"
  22. Sounds like you have a plan. Good luck with that, if you have any hick ups, let me know, and I'll see if I can help.
  23. Ok, I see your point a bit more clearly, and yes, your main point has been strayed from within the replys. So lets see if I can get this straight. You are interested in bringing back the older members of the forum/ club into activity, and you feel some of the drawl that goes on within posts has no contributing effect to this, and has almost become the main focus of a majority of posts. Do I have that right? As far as my comment on mods goes, I never mentioned negative response to mods. My complaint is with what you view as a mod. We have gotten into this before, and sure airring down you tires is mod, as cranking the T bars is a mod. Feedback is always going to be there, positive or negative, especially if you are posting it all over the internet. Some one some where is not going to like it, think they could have done it better, or just feel like they need to disagree. Thats fine, I have zero problems with that. I have gotten a ton of crap for things I have done too, not just to my truck, but other things as well. I also agree that neg feedback can be good as well, I never said it wasn't. Once again, we can run in circles with this all day. I just wanted to be sure I was clear and better understood on what my disagreement is.
  24. Yeah, but you can't lincoln lock a LSD
