Three for me; 88, Precise, and Mr. P Just curious to see how many of us are gettin out there. Oh, and after tomorrow, it will be 4.
-
If you have the wisdome, please share. All that is needed is a clutch disk for each side, and not a spring disk as well, correct? I read through it, and didn't see anything one way or the other.

Oh and I haven't put the cooler in yet. I wanted to waint and make sure the reloc was gonna be alright before I tackled that one.

Yea. I measured the oil in the filter on the last change, and it's about 1/2 a quart, plus a bit extra for the lines. Now the manual calls for somethin wierd like 3.4 quarts if I remember right, but with this setup, 4 quarts puts it just out of the cross etched portion of my wire dipstick. Thats warm, not running.

Ok found it. RS 9252 front RS 9118 rear Ok just a run down. These are the 9000 part numbers. You want 5k's just drop the 9 and insert a 5 in it's place. 5252 & 5118, get it? If you are goin to lift your rig at any point, you should get longer ones in the rear. I am runnin 9116, and I think 88's runnin 9114's These are just a bit longet than the stock ones, and allow for extra travel when flexin tough on the trail. If you're not goin there, don't worry about it. I really would waste time or money on stock replacements, I just cut the harnesses out for the shocks and tossed the old buggers. I think only one had any oil left in it any how. Hope this helps, enjoy. M.M.

Hehe try again. The rancho 9000's are the high end shocks and expect to pay about 85-90 per shock for those bad boys, trust me I know. You can fit yourself into a nice set of 5000's or pro comps for half what a set of 9000's would run, and be just as happy. I never really adjusted my 9k's too much unless I remembered, but now that the manual locker hubs are on the way, I might think of it when I go to lock em. Search around the net for shocks, I think I have the sizes you'll need, at least for rancho's any how, around here somewhere. BRB

In hind sight now that I have changed oil a few times, is I wish I would have bought 90 degree elbows for the filter mount, and mounted it so the filter was vertical. As she sits right now, at an angle, it still drips and make a small mess, but no where near the old mess. I'm thinkin I'm gonna make a stand up bracket for it and redo it here as soon as I get back to some sttel and a welder in Cali.

SHould I do a hood mount or a tire carrier? I'm goin with a 4' whip as per Mr. P's suggestion, and I'd like it to mount on or near the carrier. I see some cool body mounts too, and I was thinkin just above the outter edge of the right tailight housing, so I could just run the coax in there. Thoughts? ideas? Thanks M.M.

I do the same Mike. One of the reason I like havin a manual, it's the choice. As long as I stay easy on her, 5th works just fine, as slow as 40mph. If I need a quick shot, a downshift to 4th is all I need.
-
What, me naked, or the sign is upsetting you?
-
Either, Seattle, Bay area, or online, I really don't care. I'm lookin for a 4 footer or so. I'm gonna weld a tab onto my tire carrier and mount it there, then run the coax inside.
-
....runs by naked with a "4 doors rule, 2 doors drool" sign.

Yeah, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I really don't think I'll have any where near the problems that Mr. P had, as when I pulled my exhaust, everything came out easy except for one bolt, and thats exhaust. She's pretty darn clean underneath.

Way to cover your tracks. We all know that 88 is infallable and he NEVER posts misinformation.

Oli filter relocation write up I also bumped it up in the garage section.
-
relevance bump

Yes, yes and yes. Yes on the Thorley's, yes on the new studs; be sure to get the revised manifold studs, and yes, you have to on the filter. It would be imposible to change your filter without removing your starter if you didn't. I did a write up on the relocatio kit. I'll go dig it up.

I just make sure I have a big block of cheeze in front of the mouse on his wheel, and she's been running great ever since.
-
Since no one ever corrected 88, 87-89's have 27 splines, and the later models have 28. Thats straight from warn's page.
-
Yeah, I figured as much, that bike of his that he is workin on has been in the works for almost 3 years now.....
-
I went ahead and got it, it came to 88 bucks with shipping, so not bad in my book. Figure another 20 bucks in bolts and I'm set.

Yes, but does it have the scan feature? Thats really the selling point for me. I do alot of raod traveling and the activity of the area can be important to me. Hence the need for the scanning funtion.
