  1. My vote would be the little things first. Like sliders and Under Armor. Reasoning. Well, With both a Winch and a Locker you get more confidence to attack harder trails and obstacles, which ultimately if you don't have the other protection to your rig, is most likely going to cause you some body damage or possibly other damage like to your oil pan etc. If you don't give a rats ass about your rig, then I would go with a Winch first.
  2. adamzan those aren't the ones I'm refering too. They are available for sure in Australia and New Zealand and were the ones I was refering too in my original post about being able to see the differences. This topic is for those wishing to acquire the ones I posted. For those of you wanting something else, I can't help you. And about international copyright laws, thats kind of what I was thinking as well, but the cost per order from Nissan for those is ridiculous. They are about 500 bucks US from what I've been told from CrazyMaxx. I will confirm with my friend to get an exact figure. And I dont think those styles were in Australia and New Zealand. I had a conversation with Tex about this a while back and they have the ones that Adamzan posted above but I'm pretty sure I havent seen or heard of anyone from there with the ones from Brazil in Oz. Perhaps someone from that part of the world can give a definite answer to close that chapter.
  3. Hello all. So I'm currently in the works of talking with one of my Old International Exchange students from Brazil and it got me thinking about fender flares for a WD21 Pathfinder. Why you ask? Simple. For those of you who are unaware, it seems there were different variety of flares available for different countries and were not available for others. Now most of you on here that have been around for a while know that Brazil has some fantastic looking flares. I'm pretty sure they were available in Japan as well but since I have no connections in Japan, that is besides the point. These are the Pictures of the flares I am refering too and I appologize to Crazymaxx and Don4x4 for not asking permission to post up some of you pictures without approval first and if you would rather I take them down I will but in the meantime I will use them for reference. In these 2 photo's you can see the design difference then those of the North American versions and even you guys over in Australia and New Zealand that have wider versions of our flares can see the difference. In these Photo's CrazyMaxx is running a 32" tire. There is also this picture I have of Don4x4 who has a Solid Axle from a Patrol under his Terrano and from what i have read runs usually a 35" tire. Although, in this particular picture to me they look like 33's. It looks to me they can be mounted fine with at least a 33x12.5" tire whether you need to trim or not. So what I'm thinking of doing provided I don't run into any legal issue's with Nissan, is Getting a set from a dealer there, have my friend ship them here, Find out what kind of plastic they are made of, Gather information on Costs for a Mold of all 4 Pieces, and a cost on how much and how many I would have to produce to make it a viable option for anyone that would like them anywhere. I wouldn't care what region of the world your in provided you pay for the shipping and i would obviously try and make the costs as low as possible in order to make them more appealing to the masses. Now what I would like to know at this point, just to see if there is interest in doing this. Its obviously not worth a hassle if no one rather then me wants a pair. If that's the case then I'll buy a pair for me and be the only one north of Brazil sporting a set. At this time, I don't want to hear people saying things like it would depend on costs and such because that's obvious and this early into my research i can't possibly even guess a figure. Pretend they are free and if you like them say "Yes I like those more then our factory options and would be willing to pay for them" Again. I just want to see if there's enough interest out there to see if this even worth making a call about. And finally, If I were to go ahead with this does anyone have any insight on copyright issues for a matter like this? Like if a product is not even offered here, but is somewhere else in the world am i still liable? stuff like that. If there would be complications with that then I would merely have to modify them slightly so it wouldnt be the end of the world. At any rate... Your thoughts all..
  4. Also, A good idea to put a second nut on the bolt to prevent the other nut from loosening up.
  5. My Guess is it was right around your Pedal Foot. Under your Pathy at that spot is the Y connector for your Exhaust and gets HOT. It burns holes in our floors there commonly. My theory along with many others is that its a combination of the wet sh!t you bring into your vehicle on your shoes that migrates down to that exact spot where a lot of heat build up from the y connector pipe merges. My thoughts personally were that all that grime and wet stuff eventually work hardens the area from constant heat and water, heat and water and eventually weakens the area faster. Add Salt from winter weather and you got a serious Fast Rust spot and eventually a HOT foot. The Fix, Cut it out, Clean it up, Weld some new metal in, Clean up your welds, Prime it with a High Heat Resist paint, and rhino line it or use a similar paint. As for the Carpet, you can grab something from the Wreckers from another Pathy, Or you can Buy a new one from These guys. Good luck.
  6. Hello New member. Welcome to the forums. And let me be the first to tell you there is a vast amount of information here. Your best bet for MOST questions will be to use the search function. The Roof rack issue has been talked about many many times. The tire carrier has been done and I'll provide the link for you since I have it book marked anyway but its also a PINNED topic in the How To section of the Garage section. And as stated.... a green light comes on for 4 wheel drive. Get familiar with the search function here man. It will save you a lot of trouble. Hot to install a Tire Carrier
  7. Viagra... In all seriousness. Have you checked to see if there are any kinks or anything in the antenna that is stopping it from reaching its full potential. If there is any part of the antenna that is losing its shiny coating, or any sort of pitting happening it will add a degree of friction to that area creating a bit of a harder time raising it. I mention this cause you say WD40 works for a little while which would help lubricate the surface and aid in..... "Getting it Up" Could very well be something to do with the motor mechanism side of things though. And I haven't ever looked at how they operate so cannot comment on that.
  8. Very nice. Thanks for posting this.
  9. Lets add to this post then if you woudn't mind. It would be great for the forums for people wanting to do some unique things but need direction to do so. There's a lot of good ideas in this thread So its good to keep it all in one good one rather in several posts.
  10. I thought I would Bring this back from the dead to see if anyone could continue this conversation with some fresh Idea's.
  11. How's this coming along Tex? Dead in the water or just on hold?
  12. x2 Had the same problem on 2 of the 3 I've owned. Simple fix as stated with just a tightening of a couple clamps. I too have little time to search for it but if you start your vehicle up with the hood open then run over you'll be able to see where. Look between the Fuel rails as BoneZ said. Its right there and easy to get at.
  13. Hey hey! Look who found his way back. Congrats on the find man. I tell ya...These pathfinders are addicting. You just need a nibble then you're hooked. Welcome back.
  14. That was an image a member on here posted a few years ago. I can't remember who they were or what there Username was. I just tend to bookmark topics that I find informative and put them into Folders appropriate to the topic and save photos that I think are cool because you can't count on them being on the server for long periods of time. Like those photo's. My bet is that they are not on this forum any longer. All I can say, is it obviously can be done. I just really don't know the Specifics about anything. I wanted to do this myself years ago as well, but have since decided I don't want too. Good luck and if you do actually do a mount up, Take lots of Photo's often and Do a write up for us on here since its never been done. We'll be able to Sticky it or something if its good.
  15. I would also like to suggest Preparation X for a Rear End Problem.
  16. Just in case you want to know what it looks like before you mount it here's a couple pics so you can tell if your going to like it or not. Not my vehicle so I have no idea how they mounted it.
  17. One more thing. Looking at their homepage I don't see an option for those headers. Least I can't find them. Was there a Part Number with any of you paperwork that you can list for us.
  18. Well the Quality of them looks pretty good. What was the output Diameter? Looks fairly large in a couple of pictures to me. I'm just curious. Perhaps you can get a photo of the pipe work the second guy did so we can all see when you get a chance. I've been trying to find an alternative to Thorely's because of the low hanging Y pipe so I'd like to see. Also, did they come with a Gasket?
  19. If you're worried about whether or not you can handle it, Don't worry yourself. When I did my Timing belt all by myself, I had very little knowledge of engines and I had never done anything like this before. All I knew is that the closest Nissan Dealer was an Hour and a Half away and that shop wanted about $800-900 CAD to change it. I was sold on doing it myself. As stated, as long as your careful, do a lot of reading, and go step by step. It's highly recommended though to take pictures on your camera in a step by step approach so you can see later how things are supposed to look like when you're putting things back together. A few things you may want to consider if your going to tackle it all by yourself is usually if its time to change a Timing belt, Your waterpump, which doesn't seem to fail on people often, I was told is good for about 100,000-120,000kms. Many on here Have the original in their engine with FAR more kms then that though. Regardless, While everything's teared down it's something to consider so you dont have to tear it all down again. The Cam and Crankshaft seals are another thing you could think about changing. since again, its already ripped down. The thermostat can be swapped out at this time though so perhaps checking it in a pot and boiling the water and see if it opens when its supposed to would be a good idea. There was a thread on here not too long ago about what the correct temperature our Engines should be running at and Without looking it up I can't honestly remember at this time. Someone else can chime in for that. so the short version of things to also consider are. -waterpump -cam seals -crank seals -thermostat In my opinion. Only cause its a pain in the ass to have to replace any of those down the road before your next timing belt change. I didn't have Air tools either and you can get around the Crank bolt issue using a Large Wrench that fits the Crank bolt, and rest the other end of it up against the Frame. Then when your ready to take it off, take the fuse out for the ignition so the engine wont fire up, and just bump your key in the ignition. The force from the engine turning from the starter should be enough to loosen the crank bolt. Also, make sure you have the wrench on the correct side of the frame so its not gonna Fly around to the other side of the vehicle hahaha. <--- No this didn't happen to me but before i hit the ignition I thought about it a sec.
  20. Ya its also already in the PINNED topic for aftermarket products in the general forums section. It was supposed to be option #2 under Snorkels but the link is dead for some reason and Moderators haven't got around to fixing it yet. I posted a separate link on the 2nd Page of the company's home page with a Picture of the snorkel. There are several distributors of their products and they will also sell to you directly.
  21. How about running a second cooler under there instead of just moving it. Too expensive?
  22. I totally agree about being a weasel. But like you, I dont want to spend $400 USD on a snorkel and One Mans Trash is another mans Treasure. Its a tough break though and I feel for ya. I'd feel worse though if I wasn't already on my 3rd Pathfinder. I still miss my first one.
  23. If you don't mind me asking, what are you asking for it? And if buddy decides to pick it up ask him if he would mind if you gave me his number so I can contact him just in case he purchases it, and it sits for a while doing nothing. He may decide to let go of that Snorkel to pay for either a new engine or make some of his cash back from purchase.
  24. Well I'm glad to see that this isn't a completely bogus idea then. Perhaps it will have some merit after all. And about the diesel box fitting, it merely gave me the idea. It definitely wouldn't make any difference to me what make of vehicle it came out of so long as its bigger and can be modified to fit. Let me know what you find if you do at all find anything. Its snowing here this time of the year and I'm not likely going to go tromping thru the wreckers till at least spring. I was also thinking of trying to use like an ABS pipe or something of that nature but I don't know what the maximum size is they make it in. And making it seal properly and still accessible would be something else to deal with. At any rate. Let me know how you make out. And feel free to keep commenting on whether you think this is a totally useless idea or not or if anyone else has Idea's that would benefit the topic.
