  1. well my 87 had one of them sheared off when the previous owner hit a deer...it took me like 3 carbide bits to chew through it and i just drilled it out and put a through bolt on it with a nut on the backside... if the tail of the bolt is far enough through and you get it broken loose you can thread it all the way through using vice grips on the inside to feed the bolt all the way through the hole...mine didnt work out that way but i've done that in different area's where bolts have sheared off
  2. Heres a couple more shots...crappy b/c the BB camera seems to not be so great but then again what phone camera is...I shot these last night after I buttoned up most of the dash...I may be pulling it back out b/c I forgot to route the harness for the A Pillar but we'll see if I can manage around that... I threw the lights, corners and grill back on to see how i like the chrome on white...I guess its ok for now... The plans for the weekend are to try and get the oil pan gasket and RMS seal taken care of...once I get the pan off I will decide if I want/need to do the FMS but i'm thinking I really dont want to right now and will just wait until the next TB change... If I get that knocked out tonight then I may drop the font axle in and try to swap rear axles around tomorrow morning before heading out dirt biking... Then sunday hopefully I can get the rest of everything pulled off of the 95 chassis and get the wheels/tires swapped out but we'll see how the sickness is treating me and how bad the alcohol makes the sickness worse... Some other pix I thought were cool:
  3. I havent heard problems on the pathy's but I would recommend checking the bolts periodically...a guy i used to work with had a body bolt back out and he noticed it in the cab once it sheared another one off on his HB...he got it fixed and no big deal but I have seen some high speed rollovers where body lifts resulted in the cab separating from the frame...Once I get my 3" BL in the next couple of weeks I'll see if I think bolt bending is an issue and if so i'll do something to fix it but as long as its in sheer and tension i'll be satisfied Any modification should be done with the understanding that the handling capabilities will change and increase loads on the factory parts and there is a risk whether it be large or small to be aware of and periodically checking your rig over can reduce some of these risks
  4. I know she posted a link either here or on facebook that would overlay a piece of bacon on a webpage...and i've seen other comments on bacon so i'm not sure i know the story behind it but i was like WTF
  5. Heh...I just caught your bacon...on one of my refreshes...
  6. all 6 that i've ever done were like that...they were soaked in PB prior to trying to even remove the manifolds...this engine only had 2, one on each side
  7. Alright...I got a decent idea of to make a How To for removing broken exhaust studs...so here is the link to the youtube video: Here is an image of the tools I used: The easy out set is from napa and I think it runs about $25 and it has 4 different size removal tools
  8. Heres where I'm uploading pictures as I offload the camera...these are all pictures of progress and as many pix as I think it'll take to remind me of how everything went together http://s193.photobucket.com/albums/z48/unc.../95%20teardown/
  9. heres what AC lists in the kit I assume there may be enough slack in some things but not the fuel tank filler neck and a lot of the other stuff may be ok like the safety loop but if you were to hit it on the trail you may damage the driveshaft... http://www.performanceaccessories.com/catalog/nissan.htm
  10. I guess that depends on how big the puddle is...I have sucked water up in my 87 and 95...not enough to hydro lock anything but enough to wet the airfilters...look in the TOTM thread and Fuelers picture...I think in a WD21 if you're going to be going through puddles like that frequently it'd be well worth it
  11. has someone bought that jegs kit to verify it has everything b/c the description leaves it to be pretty vague...
  12. hmm i just looked at jegs and you can buy just the lift blocks for like $8 each but didnt see a nissan kit saw a lot of gmc/chevy/ford kits so blocks alone would be $64 and I assume the bolts would be something like $4 each so thats $32 and then that doesn't give you extensions on everything else (i dont know if its really required but I think getting a whole kit would be the way to go)
  13. haha...no...money you sink into vehicles are "sunk costs" i could maybe get $1k out of it if that and thats 1 of the reasons for parting out the 95...I paid 4k for it drove it almost a year and a half and someone else drove it for almost 2 when i tried to sale it the most I could get out of it was $2k so for me i've already spent that $ on it and may as well use it for my benefit b/c there was no way I was loosing that much $ and still not having a working truck and there is probably no monetary value that someone could offer me to sale it to them...within reason...if someone came up and was like hey i'll give you $40k for it on the spot yea i'd probably hand them the keys but that is far fetched and if that bridge comes we'll cross it but i dont see it coming along I guess thats kinda like richard not being able to sale his pathy and just chopped it up and i believe it was well worth what he was asking for it
  14. last time i checked ACs was 140 for the 2" and like 115 for the 3" with everything except bumper relocation brkt or is it the radiator drop down...i don't remember Here's what RuggedRocks has listed: PER-4052 Performance Accessories - 2" Body Lift - 86 - 90 Nissan Pathfinder $179.95 PER-4053 Performance Accessories - 3" Body Lift - 86 - 90 Nissan Pathfinder $141.95 and what 4x4parts.com has listed: Pathfinder 2 Inch Body Lift 1986.5-1989 Pathfinder 2 or 4WD $159.94USD Pathfinder 2 Inch Body Lift 1990-1995 Pathfinder 2 or 4WD $170.22USD Pathfinder 3 Inch Body Lift 1990-1995 Pathfinder 2 or 4WD $145.90USD Pathfinder 3 Inch Body Lift 1987-1989 Pathfinder 2 & 4WD $121.90USD I would personally buy from SteeevO b/c he's a member on here and I have read things in the past on shipping times/costs from AC but it looks like AC updated their list so I'm going to let steve know so he can check up on that
  15. yes that is correct...you have one or the other and it sounds like you have lugcentric wheels which means that the circle cut in the wheel to clear the hub may not look centered on the hub b/c it is a rough cut and not machined to a tight tolerance I guess the next thing to check is that the taper on the lug is the same as the wheel and it is not flat...if that is all the same as you tighten down the lugs they will center the wheel just follow the star pattern gradually tightening as you go around... You could also have a bent/warped wheel try to spin those up on the balancer without tires on it if the wheel is out of round you probably won't be able to balance it... or a bad tire as folks have stated.
  16. oh man...you don't want to get me on that soap box...I cannot believe how much the books say my car is worth...I about cried when I looked b/c I was looking at my budget and i was like @!*% this car is killing me if I can break even on it and get out from under the loan i'll just go get an older car that I can work on and get about the same mileage (probably about 3-5 mpg less but still better than the trucks were getting by a long shot) it'll be paid for here in the next year and a half or so I guess thats a good thing and then i'll just drive it till it breaks and costs more to fix it than it would be to buy a used car which isnt far fetched with all these damn computers and electronics
  17. heh...you see i'm doing all of this and I have a $400 car + $125 insurance payment...I really wish now I would have had more than 3 days to get a car once i moved here b/c I would be driving a 95 altima or accord...ohh well it'll be a long time before I get a brand new car again...but the savings on insurance on the 95 to just the 87 is significant (been paying over $100 on the 95 per month b/c i didnt want to have liability on it with other folks driving it) but I'm working out a good budget and the pathy should soon be growing and becoming more capable while putting more $ in the bank so its a win win...I get my unique 87 back and the amount of work that goes into it I doubt many folks will follow suit at least for a while and maybe someday I can get a writeup in some magazine or something cuze that'd be cool but if not I've got all you guys to show it to... yea Ramon we'll see what I dont get sold and go from there...i will soon be listing things in the parts for sale section
  18. is the wheel countersunk for the lugs (ie lugcentric) or is it flat with no "centering devices" then it would be hubcentric wheels and yea you'd probably have some vibrations... I'm not sure what you mean by bouncy tire but if I'm with GG on you could have a bad belt or "square" tire
  19. ~URE (uwharrie) is you're best bet... hit 40 west to 85S or I think you can take 64 to get on 24/27 and get that way...should be about a 2hr ride there are some mud holes there if it's rained a good bit theres lots of rocks but its a blast...I miss URE... ~OBX if you like sand and salt water fishing, you could be to hatteras in a matter of 2 hrs or so I usually just hit the cut and found trails that werent posted or with friends on their land or easements (until they built apartments on most of it) when I was in charlotte. These guys are local to the south east and usually post events...(http://www.noas4x4club.com/)
  20. 87 frame and body are staying the way they are but I'm swapping in the wire harness, dash, engine and driveline from my 95...I've done this already but I had some issues with the speedo and some other sensors and making the ECU not too happy...then that engine took a crap (i'm assuming from the front impact it chipped a ring or something b/c I ended up with 2 dead cylinders and it was pouring fuel into the oil) and I cut some corners trying to get it done so I want to do it right this time so its like a factory install and don't have to worry about some wires chaffing through or anything like that... I hope to get the driveline dropped out and engine pulled by friday night then I can roll it out and roll the 87 in and offload all of the crap inside of it and start pulling that harness and hopefully get the interior back together by sunday but we'll see how things go Heres the writeup that i did on 4x4parts...i may go back and update it but it seems to be difficult to post images there now b/c it doesnt scale them to fit it just crops them... http://www.4x4parts.com/ubbthreads/showfla...part=1&vc=1
  21. its already MPFI...but that engine took a crap and it was an auto and i worked around that but I want to put this harness in since it'll be a MT to MT and i'll be happy with it... I'll have the MPFI harness and intake for sale here soon (in fact its already in the Parts for sale) EDIT: Here is how the recipient sits right now...eagerly awaiting her new goods...
  22. at least someone does...i've gotten a lot of "you're stupid" lectures lately well it's going back together...just not on the same chassis but if you start throwing $ at me in huge quantities...sure i'll put it back together...
  23. Alright well some of you know and may have been following my uploads on facebook through the NPORA groupe there...I moved 2 weekends ago into my own place and my NC plates expired on the 95. My plan since I came to CA was to part it out for my 87 but it took me 1.5 years to get the 95 here. I drove it here and wheeled it pretty good for about a month or 2 and now that I have gotten into my own place I have started the tear down...I still don't have heat or internet at the new place so my only access points are here at work and via my phone and posting here just takes too long to type on my phone but i have been lurking reading. So I pulled her in the garage 2 fridays ago and had the whole front end pulled off but we had to go serve an eviction notice for a friend of ours so i threw the corners back on and the fenders on to go serve that then came back and started pulling. Right now i've got probably about 12 hours of work in it but i'm being meticulous about pictures and labeling everything and carefully removing clips so the installation should go pretty smooth... about 1 hours worth of work: Found my bluetooth that I lost at Calico...it was under the ECU cover under the pass seat: I need more storage space: Harness out...inside stripped clean: I hope to get the driveline dropped out this week and roll her out and roll the 87 in and get all the crap stored in her out and get the harness out and get everything installed over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully I get internet this week and i'll try to update it more frequently
