yea i'm gonna fab my own drop down but it looks like I need to trim the original "lower restraints" off so the radiator isnt closer to the fan...I want to do an efan mod so I may leave it in the stock location for now and do that later and then it won't matter thanks for the input...I may have to take hte steering shaft off of my 95 b/c I was reading where the 87-89 has a different type shaft that may make it too short

HOW THE EFF do you get the friggin fuel tank filler extension tube to go down the filler neck...i'm thinking i'm gonna need to buy a new one b/c i've spent more time trying to get that to work than it took me to lift the damn body and get it buttoned up... alright got that...that was a PITA....old cold rubber does not like to stretch...i quit for the night so i can get up in the morning and hopefully try to get the transmission into place all I have left is to fix the lower radiator hose figure out how to fix the steering shaft b/c i dont think there is enough adjustment in it right now and definitely don't want that coming loose on the road and put the clamps on the fuel tank but it was getting cold and dark so i put the hoses on but not the clamps b/c i was having some alignment issues and rolled her back in the garage...didnt want o leave the hoses off and let the gas fumes build up in the garage...the water heater is in there and that would just suck... some images... Gangsta lean: almost there: My lifting rig...worked like a champ (i was unsure of hte 2x4 in that position but it didnt even think about moving...couldnt find the damn T bar either b/c i was going to cut it off and put it in my 18V drill so i ended up using a phillips head through the holes to turn it...worked out nicely): much better compared to earlier (no tbars): earlier: I've read a couple of installs and the TM BL seems to have an extension for the steering shaft but the PA kit doesnt and right now my shaft doesnt look like it will give me comfortable engagement...what did most other folks do to ensure they had enough spline engagement on both sides?

So I got my 3" body lift last week (thanks SteeevO and ruggedrocksoffroad.com) and now it's time to install it...I've gone through and read all the posts but one common thing is "multiple people are needed" There lies the problem and was curious if there were any others that have done this on their own? I think I can do it...I mean i've done like 3 or 4 engine swaps alone and changed 2 clutches alone so it can't be that much more difficult. my plan of attack is to get 6 cinder blocks and stack 2 in 2 places on each side then take 2 OEM bottle jacks and jack up oneside using a 4' 2x4 so i dont bend up the body too bad then place jackstands under it and take the bottle jacks to the otehr side and jack it up...I think I will have to do each side about 1" at a time then set the blocks in and get the body close to them and see if I can't get all the bolts to line up since that seems to be a problem and for safety a 4x4 will be between the frame and body in case there are any wind gusts and we have an issue..i'd rather bend up the body than loose a hand... I'm hoping I can get it done in under 3 or 4 hours but at least i didnt break any body bolts removing them...

yea you can make one or go buy one and install it. I would recommend buying the fiberglass hood and integrate on in if you know how to work with composites

my factory fogs had a bosch relay on the pass side firewall but the factory ones always stop working and start poping fuses b/c the wiring is pretty scary if you ask me...i'll be redoing that here as this swap goes on

the timing belt had tension didnt it? and wasnt just floppy in the case? you havent pulled the distributor out have you? and if you disconnected the fuel lines you hooked them back up to the right places? heh...listening to 106.5 and it doesnt sound like the rain has or is going to slack up in the next couple days...i miss the carolina's

you're planning on throwing a relay in right? I don't think you want all the power for the lights going through the switch...

lock-rite or lok-rite I can't remember or a detroit....I know the lock rite it was incredibly easy on my buddies chevy and the detroit was pretty easy on my buddies jeep...

I'll see if my issue is gone once I get it all back together and driving...mine has been doing it for like 2 years now...but my entire trip back west with her it didnt come on but once and I think 2 more times in the few months i drove her here...guess we'll see

my 87 is open and doing burnouts in the driveway I could spin both wheels...but they would alternate back and forth and sometimes just the right one spun but there was a lot more tire right on that side but like I said i know its open but I left 2 marks but not every time

I think someone just posted they changed their O2 and it fixed it. I had the EGR function on my 95 and when i just pulled the engine i noticed the hose that goes from the top diaphram to the lower one had broken in half so you may want to check that...my SES light would come on for like a day and go away for a length of time and then come back and go away like you described so you may want to check that little hose...it was easy to swap out I just popped the 2 screws out of the top diaphram (think they were #8s) and pulled the 2 sections of hose off of each one and slid a new piece on

same here...hell i've been working on her for 3 years now...but i think we're finally getting to the short rows although i saw a leak from the FMS tonight which i'm hoping is an overflow valve b/c i dont have the tbars in and the engine is "downhill" but i'll worry about it later and if I have to pull it back out i'll do it a few months after driving her depending on how bad it is haha...my 95 had a RMS leak as soon as i did the clutch and i have a feeling its b/c of the wear mark on the crank so we'll find out after its back up and running and if its leaking again I know where my problems are

well I'm sorta sharing your pain right now...not completely but I got the front axle back in today flawlessly...which never happens i literally had it in in less than 20 mins by myself...I'm upfitting to a 95 which has different CVs well I thought it was just the bolt pattern on but it turns out its the shaft diameter too...so now I have to swap spindles over...so much for the front end being quick and easy good luck...at least yours will be drivable before mine

yea before I moved here we were banking on it making CA fall off the US...now that I'm here it'll happen for sure...

IIRC its something like 135 psi...check the FSM it tells ya...and IIRC something more than like 20psi between 2 cylinders is bad...but i'm just pulling those #s out of my head right now

growing up where I did we never had to worry much with fires...now that I live in CA I have been close to several wildfires and I never understood why they couldn't control them b/c if there is a "forest" fire where i'm from it would be contained fairly quickly and out here the winds are just crazy and can move a fire incredibly which was new to me. Earthquakes are also an interesting feeling...I have only felt a small one and i honestly didnt know what was going on...i thought someone had walked up behind my chair and pushed on it and then i looked at the blinds and the coat rack and was like uhh is that an earthquake? I grew up dealing with hurricanes and sometimes tornado's and typically during hurricane season we had a good stock of food and my buddies always had enough fuel to run a generator for about a week but with hurricanes you usually have a good little warning (enough to go down and board up the house at the beach and get back) In NC they also had posted "evacuation" routes for the coast and the nuclear power plants I don't think you can really do anything with a tsunami if you are in the direct path. I havent ever lived anywhere where the winters are harsh and the reality of getting snowed in was there but I have traveled places that were and made sure to have enough food/water and means of staying warm for about a week and when i did my cross country drives I had plenty of food/water/supplies to deal with the climates I was driving through

I still think it may be possible with a custom body lift 5-6" (not talking about using blocks i'm talking about welding new body mounts to the frames) and some modifications to the fenderwells...I havent taken measurements or anything but that was my initial thought for that...it'd be cool if someone had a CAD model from nissan that gave you the engine envelope and then someone could model up the engine bay and frame...but thats a lot of work...i still dont even have the frame rails completed yet nad i've been workign on and off on that for like 3 years

heh no offense...I couldnt join...that was when i found out i'm half german and my mom and her twin were adopted. My dad's family tree is too complex to try to figure out and submit although i know I could have done it...maybe later down the road. I hear tons of great speakers though in high school b/c I went as a guest to most of their meetings agree 100% and growing up in NC where hurricanes are no stranger I saw tons of looting and what not and knew people who went down and rode out storms to protect their property b/c the island gets closed so whoever is there is there and theres like 3 cops on the island...I do understand some people could not leave NO but a majority of the ones that stayed stayed with the intention of it either "not being that bad" or i'mma steal a buncha @!*% and get rich I saw the last 20 mins or so of that history channel program and thats pretty much what it was...the economy in the US was going to take a crap then that in turn was going to affect the rest of the world (taking place already) and it was going to continue for a few years and as the population grew food became scarce and it became "everyman for themselves" and was talking about people producing their own fuels and developing their own water purification systems and power generation. This was done like 4 or more years ago and was projecting years like 2050. I wish i knew what show it was and i'd love to go back and watch the whole thing. I don't think it will happen but one thing that I do believe is if a series of events take place then it is quite possible. I think if all of these happened within a year we would be in some serious trouble: 1. Major hurricane/storm cuts oil production like it did when katrina and rita came through (gas spikes truckers stop driving so all supplies are scarce) 2. Major earthquake in long beach/san fran destroys the port or leaves it under water (stops a good number of imports and exports another leading to a shortage of goods) 3. Obama gets assassinated (I think this would set off that scenario to CW2 b/c random race crimes would spike through the roof) 4. another major terrorist attack (american people are down something like this could make them really question their "security") 5. other random occurrences to irritate the situation and like i said i don't believe all of this is going to happen but it could happen and that is where I stand...just look at gun and ammunition sales in the last 6 months...and the limits that were put on rice...so it may be paranoia but i dont think it is so much

built a still...and have enough mash...you can make fuel...I don't know how well it would burn in a pathy but I have heard some stories of "back in the day running my old car off of some white lightening b/c that's all we had to get to the next station" and go to the southeast b/c if you think it's overboard you should check what a lot of "my people" have going on...they aren't prepared for a fallout but they are prepared for "civil war 2" which my buddies grandfather has been talking about since i can remember and after watching an episode on the history channel about our evolution to chaos...right now we're about 5 years ahead of what they were projecting and right on time for what the ole man has been preaching for years. One example was last summer when the hurricane was projected to hit and almost every gas station was out of fuel and gas shot up over $5/gal down there...my cousin called me at like 6am my time on sat telling me to fuel up before it went up...prices went down here in CA that day...but they took about 2-3 months to recover from...hell you had people stealing tractor trailers and emptying stations at night stealing fuel
