unccpathfinder replied to RustyButTrusty's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
I've been chasing mine for about 6 months now...and before i could get the new bearing races welded on guess what...my welder broke...so the races on there right now havent broken loose so i'm ok but i need to get it fixed up soon...as far as the hole...you could weld a new piece of steel in to fill that or cut the old out and weld in a whole new square -

depending on you're experience and how many snafoo's happen i'd give yourself 3-6 hours...rebuilding the gf's rear brakes yesterday I found that the park brake cable lever in the rear drum was also tweaked...so I had to straighten it and then i broke the ring to put the clip through to hold it in place off when i was almost getting it straight so I had to drill and tap it since its a JY or dealer only item so i turned a 1-2 hr job into a 3 hr job... -

completely possible....but its not coming from the Tbars....i'd suspect compression rod bushings...go drive it on a highway and see if you get death wobble -

Thanks...I wanted the electric blue or the color you had but the problem was i didnt want to buy new b/c i had to custom order it with the 6 speed...i randomly asked while i was getting the oil changed on the camry if they had a MT tacoma...they said no...well about 30 mins later they were like yes we found one on our lot...while i was signing papers 3 days later 4 different couples came in to drive the tuck 1 was from virginia and the other was from georgia and 2 others in the charlotte area...that truck was getting sold that day whether it was to me or someone else lol...i hated my camry it needed $1000 worth of work and i had beat the hell out of it...it was less than 3 yrs old and almost had 70k miles on it...i gladly upgraded to the tacoma

Driver Side Valve Cover Gasket Installation
unccpathfinder replied to blackspawn's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
you may be able to try to get to the screws and tighten them but i found it not really helpful...so i wait until a tbelt change...we just did my gf's new ot her 95...we did valve cover gaskets, timing belt, cam seals, t-stat and water pump here's the upper intake off (note there is still one screw behind the distributor which i had to pull to get the screw out): heres with the covers off and the gf scraping the wp gasket: the worst part of the entire job is 2 little coolant lines on the back side of the upper intake...they're a pain to get off and a bigger PITFA to get back on...it took my gf's small hands and my hand strength to get the clams on...worm clams may be an intelligent upgrade here...other than that make sure to hook up the vacuum line on the back side of the intake...i'd reccomend hex head sockets if not i use alan wrenches with a box end as a torque arm...while your in there do spark plugs and maybe plug wires -
if it were me...i'd buy an axle and start preping it for a SAS... but i'd say which ever you need more b/c iwth the SL you'll need larger tires eventually check out rockcrawler's by procomp...that's what i have on my 87 and they take a beating and are pretty cheap...if u r looking at new wheels
-
nice...so how do you like hard acceleration in 1st gear from a stop? what about carrying it through 2nd 3rd and 4th...my 06 is the first vehicle to ever get away from me and on dry pavement at that...oh and don't forget where reverse is i put a dent in my bumper about 30 mins after getting it trying to do a quick 3 point to get out of people's way and missed R and went into first and bumped the back side of a guardrail DOH Couldnt resist with mine...wheelbase is way too long for any serious wheeling: anywho...love that paint...sexy truck

looking at your avatar it looks lowered...hince you're camber is out of whack...my truck has the complete opposite problem i run on the outsides...i removed some shims behind the UCA's and helped it out some...with yours you'll prob need longer UCA bolts and a good .25"-.5" of shims on the UCA...this will assist with the camber but may mess up the toe and require adjustment of TRE's and what not but just take it to an alignment shop... no tbars:

price on replacing timing belt
unccpathfinder replied to ahardb0dy's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
$200 for a timing belt is pretty cheap...i wouldn't do it for under $400 if htey supplied parts esp if its on a MPFI VG...I did timing belt, valve covers, t stat, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets and cam seals on the gf's pathy which took about 6 or 7 hours...i'd at least get $35/hr if i was doing the work myself but i did have 2 people helping off and on (the gf and my buddy whose house i was doing it at so say 2 people for 6 hrs (12 hrs) so that would a been about $400...i'm trying to think of the app that i looked it all up on and i think the timing belt was called out as a $700 job... keep in mind they need to be experienced b/c if they screw it up you're out of $200 and possibly an engine... -
check my thread....lots of people helped out with my trail gear bumper adaptation...

Swapping Cruise control from a 92
unccpathfinder replied to Kyle94's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Kyle I'm gonna kinda break down the PM here so others can give inputs 1. Anything is possible 2. Check the wiring diagram from the FSM and do a double check on vehicle to see if all the connectors are present...if so the wiring is probably good to go. What you will need: brake/clutch pedal inhibitor switches, main on/off switch to the left of the steering wheel (may be different than the 94/95 dash), switches on the steering wheel (if these were offered on other than 94/95 trucks which i hit on that are powered typically off of the same strike plate that the horn is so i don't know if the steering wheel needs to change or just add the switch and the under hood solenoid/cable assembly 3. I haven't done it but that'd be my approach...check the FSM for connectors, verify they're there and then get hte parts and hook it up and hope it works or the throttle lock i talked about in the PM -
pull a part is the @!*%!....best strip joint in town lol...the charlotte one sucks now or at least last time i went b/c he wanted me to ay $400 for an axle b/c people had picked stuff off of it but the one in columbia is nice still... i'm waiting for columbia to get a rear disk pathy so i can get the axle there instead of in CLT

front bumper build pics please
unccpathfinder replied to flyinwall's topic in Solid Axle Swaps, Hardcore Custom Fab
I wanted to do an arb or similar but weight of my truck is a concern...my front bumper with winch weighs about 80 lbs total...gave the fenders a competition cut and I'm happy...I'd suggest if you ever plan to do a winch to plan now and get good points to the frame to transfer about 12k lbs of load.. -
I trimmed my shroud and have had it on over a year and never had cooling problems including driving cross country from CA to SC with a trailer

I know you said you don't like tube bumpers but they provide plenty of protection...here is a trail gear bumper that I have made brackets to mount to my truck Beating on it a lil bit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNgbQDjG_UA -
i heard the bolts between the 94/95 are different than those of the 86.5-93 but i'm going to find out once the BL gets here for the gf's truck
