well thats good then...so t belt is in tact...
-
just trying to knock things out to narrow it down...i'd do the dist cap check...it shouldnt take 5-10 mins...
-
hmm...2 ways to check that really quick...pull the dist cover and have some1 turn the truck over...if the rotor doesnt turn the belt is not on teh pullies anymore...or pull the top cover i think its like 5 or 6 10mm bolts and see if the belt is there and/or has tension...

my 87 has 230k miles on it with absolutely no issues (except when its cold but if you go from 1st towards forth and back into 2nd until it gets warm she doesnt fuss the 95 is the same way) and my 95 has is a diff story...my cuz got it with about 90k on it about 3 years ago and the syncro's were going in 1st and 4th grinding and what not) so she drove it for roughly 2 years...and now i have it and i can drive the truck without grinding for the most part...if i dont give 3rd to 4th enough time (try and quick shift) she'll bark at me... its now got 140k and still running strong...i've changed the oil 2 times now and have gotten very minimal shavings out of it and no chunks... i will say the syncro's aren't that bad tho...i can still rpm shift (shift with no clutch) without any major issues but sometimes 4th has to be exact on its rpm going in but most of the time she'll shift with no issues unlike most other on this board too...i drive both of my trucks very hard...more so the 87 (till something fell in the engine during a spark plug change and fubared #1) than my 95...

87 Pathfinder Audio Wiring Colors
unccpathfinder replied to DukeDuke's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
multimeter...and then hook up the speakers 1 at a time to see what wires go where...my truck never had a stock radio and it was ahcked from the the time i got it...ran a ground to the frontwall and a hot lead off of my fuse box from i think the clock fuse... i know this is not the safest or best way to do it but in 6 years i never had an issue... -
growing up i always heard this huge hype on pinion angles and if you lift your vehicle you need to adjust for this so you dont destroy u joints and what not... for all you lifted guys/gals have u experienced problems with this...i know theres a limit on our height but if you could go higher would it eventually put the U joints in a bind and cause some major carnage?

so i go talk to the security guard today...and he was like dammit...just the other week some1 stole a dodge truck out of the lot...and today some1 stole a bike helmet off of some1's motorcycle...i think im going to have to park my truck on the grass right out front of my window... i wish i still had access to the machine shop up on campus...i've got some scrap diamondplate that would be big enough to make 2 and i could paint them black and i think that'd be cool....

I dont know all about this...and im kinda iffy on trying it...it looks as if the door around the lock was bent from several tries of this on that red car...but it seems rather interesting...esp since i keep a tennis ball on my CB antenna... http://poststuff5.entensity.net/020507/med...edia=unlock.wmv i believe i will try this with the air compressor set on like 10 or 15 psi...and blow into the locks which leads me to think a can of comressed air for like cleaning your keyboard would work...

yea i was thinking of making some on my way home but wasnt thinking of those clips to secure it...if i cant find any thats what i'll do is make some custom...but still makes me mad
-
so yea the topic pretty much sums it up...i go into work traffic wasnt bad...have a pretty good day at work and i almost always walk around the truck to check out my truck...didnt notice the cowl missing until i hit the on ramp and i was like WTF... so needless to say i was pretty pissed the rest of the 45 min ride home...who the hell would steal my friggin cowl (besides some1 that needed1) grr if i dont find 1 it looks like the 87 will donate more parts to my 95...

a c6 vette rear ended me this afternoon on my way home from work...traffic was thick and stop and go...so im moving up when traffic is moving and i couldnt see his headlights at all hardly ever...so we get going up to 35 and hes trying to move in and out of traffic and i see traffic stopping so i just lay off the gas didnt downshift or anything and i felt a slight nudge and think nothing of it just though i hit a pot hole or something from all the ice scrapers last week...so we get moving and i see him go wizzing in and out of traffic and sure enough the hood was creased/cracked up got home and there was a slight hint of black paint on my rear bumper...prior to this i had 3 people not signal or look b4 coming into my lane and if it would have just been me and that charger with his 30 day tags on the road he would have went for a lil spin cycle but i didnt want to kill any1 so i jammed the brakes and let him over some kid sideswiped a buddy of mines wife today and was so stoned she tried to chase him down and couldnt get his attention but took pix of his car with her camera phone (damn thats a scary thought) and 4 hrs later they catch him via his mom...he doesnt remember hitting anything and they just did an exchange of insurance form no hit and run or anything...they've had the car for like a month now brand new what kinda BS is that... i hate people who dont give truck drivers enough room tho (yea some can be jackasses but most are nice) until i fried my cb i would chat it up on my trip to work and home every afternoon and always would find 1 running my speed and give them screens if they needed to get around a slow car or truck b/c its damn hard for them to move in traffic esp when u have people zipping in and out without signals...its like a 20,000+lbs truck vs your 1500-3000 lbs beer can car/truck/suv give him some room

NY to Florida to NY to Arizona in the 95 Pathy
unccpathfinder replied to John Boy's topic in General Forums
where'd u stop in NC...around fayettehell or raleigh? guess ure traveling I-95? -
i've heard of people here getting tix for slamming on brakes resulting in wrecks...if i get a jackass tailgating i usually lay off or speed up to keep them boxed in so they cant pass (im always running at least 9 over) but on the other hand i can tailgate...and tailgate hard but this usually comes after some1 is a jackass (cut me off and go slow or try to run me out of my lane and not show remorse for it)...i was coming home 1 day and had passed this stupid woman who was running 10 under the whole time ( on a 2 lane road) it went to 4 so i passed her...so we get to the light and i know the left is the straight lane and the right is right turn only...well she decides she wants to go straight...i honk my horn she speeds up and about rams into the side of and flips me the bird...when i get a rush of road rage it is not pretty for the other people and scares the @!*% out of the people im with... so i go from 3rd to 1st...spin the tires get about 2 ins off her bumper and knowing shes going to hit the brakes i had about a half a car width over toward the center line...she jams the brakes (we're going about 45 now in a 35) i once again go from 4th to 2nd jerk over pass her and now im runnin about 60 in a 45 and shes amazingly on my ass i flip her the bird grin drop it to 3rd tires yell and she jerks it over and nails the curb...i check out and never see her again...my other great story was some prick 16 year old (grew up with his brother and he was a prick too) kid cutting me off turning left i was going right...so knowing he was driving his bro's car got on his ass and once again anticipating the brakes he jams them on into a lock i go around he tailgates me i downshift and kick the tires...he about @!*%s a brick and comes up next ot me and my ex gf at the light...he makes some smart ass remark...she gets out grabs him by the collar and lets him have it...truck gets egged that night so i go pay his rents a lil visit and explain the entire event to them and holy @!*% they took his license for a week... but a side note...i really hate those people when ure like 5 feet back and they feel ure too close and hit the brakes just to make u back off...that usually makes me get closer too...just drive and dont worry about me being behind u im not tailgating unless u cut me off and went slow...if it was that important to get in front of me hit the damn gas and go

swapping an auto out for a manual...Worth it?
unccpathfinder replied to Jmax5000's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
you just gave the definition of a jumper and i wasnt sure about the lockout in the ign...i kept my manual steering column and ign so i still have the push button release -
master is on the firewall right next to the driver side hood hinge...slave is on the tranny on the pass side above a cross member...

sounds like the throwout bearing is growling at ya...mine growled for a while and then i finally had to change the clutch it was toast... another good way to test it is if you have a highway or long stretch of road you can put it in the highest gear (5th) and while going up hill put the pedal to the floor and if it slips then the clutch is starting to go... i noticed mine starting to do that on my way to work some mornings...then i went to spin the tires and the RPMs hit 4k but my truck didnt move....rpm shifted all the way back to my hometown (120 miles away) until i got to town then i had to use the clutch and she smelled horrible... but i'd say if shes not slipping yet and not growling all the time at ya i'd let it go till it needs replacing...but once it starts all the time it'll be time b/c the bearing would have a good chance of seizing up and that might not be too pretty you would just need to replace the clutch, flywheel, throw out bearing, rear main seal and prob change your fluids, and while the tranny is out you could change the rear cam seals pretty easily

unccpathfinder replied to Jmax5000's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
you will also need to create a jumper on the transmission lockout that goes to the auto shifter (so the truck will start) and i believe you will need to pull the lockout switch out of the steering column (or change the IGN) check how the transmissions send their speedo controls (electric or mechanical) that might be the biggest hang up -
same here with some stainless hardware...i had to use cardboard to make templates tho since mine were MIA...i got the some pretty thick stuff and i think i got maybe 4 feet worth of it and i have a ton left over...they've been going strong for about 4 or so years without any issues and we actually just made some for my roommates grandprix
